@notnamedjohn. I completely agree man I heard them for the first time a few years ago and I thought they were older like late 70s to the 90s and with all the stuff they play on the radio today I just assumed that they had broken up like all the other good bands but now that I know they still make music I'm just like any other #1 fan stalking their albums
@NotNamedJohn i think the best description of their sound is how one of the band members (can't remember which one) described angles as a sound that mixes the 1970s with the future. 1970's rock + the future = The Strokes
@gXKarma Well Juicebox is different, and the Strokes are all about having totally different sounding songs, personally Juicebox is one of my favorites.
@peterismazin The Killers are extremely american and proud of their roots in Las Vegas, It is true that their music caught on in the UK first, but to say that the UK owns them is completely untrue. Most of their inspiration comes from Las Vegas, such as the Sam's Town and Day & Age albums. Even Brandon's solo album was dedicated to the street he grew up on in Vegas. They also have said in interviews that they don't like being labelled British, so stop trying to claim bands for the UK
Nearly a decade after the release of this album, it still sounds fresh and modern. The Strokes were so revolutionary. New bands which are emerging now, in 2010, are STILL trying to copy the Strokes and capture that "garage rock revival" sound. So many people try but nobody does it as well as Julian and the boys.
yes this album is still fresh, probably one of my favorite in the decade. i also love i want to be forgotten on their second album. but i think the raveonettes can do it better check hallucinations and dead sound those songs are master pieces of garage rock
@KidBk313 Couldnt agree with you more. The strokes....Is this it....Is the best album i've herd in the last 20 years of music. Certainly the most iconic. The truly did save Rock 'n' Roll and played the biggest part in reviving the Punk/Gargae movement. All hale these musical Gods. They truly are amazing
@KidBk313 Im just now being exposed to this band becasue I saw them with Pearl Jam last night. And I dug them, but mainly because they sound so much like Queens of the Stone Age, who acutually played right before them. Being that Queens came out before them, IMO you might wanna revise your "revolutinary" statement. Because alot of older Queens sounds just like The Strokes to a fucking tee.
actually going to force my children to listen to the strokes!!!

I say the right things, but act the wrong way,
I like it right here, but I can not stay.
I watch the TV, forget what I'm told,
well Iam too young and they are too old.
Oh man, can't you see, I'm nervous, so please,
pretend to be nice, so I can be mean!
I missed the last bus, we'll take the next train,
I try, but you see, it's hard to explain.
