Anubis the coolest badguy the stargate series ever spits out at first you think he is only a cliche cloak wearing dude then in this episode you see that just under that cloak lurks a very evil fat man named Jim
why couldn't she win.. he isn't ascended they kicked him out ? now it was different with Adria she was ascended Morgan LeFay waited till Adria lost her extra powers so she could fight her
@isal3 Daniel chose it. Oma wasn't there to do it, she was there to guide Daniel in his choice. In Atlantis and later in SG-1 it makes it sound like its a conscious decision by the Ascended to remake themselves in human form.
@Finalzero Strictly speaking... Anubis was allow to do what he did because it still fit into the grand scheme of things by the powers that be... When Ba'al change the timeline... either they decide not to let him run loose or Ba'al future knowledge took him out so he doesn't become a threat. Anubis is something you don't want around when you have future knowledge... he cannot be control.
@DungeonCodex and that would go against the fact that the ancients cannot travel instantly when ascended which is why morgan le fay had to follow the odyssey through the supergate to the ori galaxy where she could act freely because there were no ascended ancients there
@DungeonCodex the other ancients didnt stop Anubis because Oma helped Anubis ascend, and as punishment, they half way threw him out of ascension. all the death and suffering is suppose to be punishment for Oma, her knowing it was her fault. If she wants to stop it, she must eternally battle with Anubis
@Finalzero Not necessarily. Since the Ancients live at a higher plane of existence than everyone else, they're probably unaffected by the rules of time as they affect us. So, it's entirely possible that Anubis was still fighting Oma in that reality, even though the "real-time" events leading up to that hadn't actually occurred.
@Cyberhamon that's just stupid that would mean that the Alteraans or the Ancients were always ascended and how would a body exist if it turns into pure energy once you ascend since they were always ascended? So they must experience time as we do.
@isal3 Nerus is probably who you are thinking of, the Goa'uld inventor and token glutton. Formerly a servitor of Ba'al, probably named after the Greek titan Nereus.
Anubis was my favorite character in Sg-1 and I'm so sad how they got rid of him. I was always hoping that there would be an episode in Atlantis where Anubis escaped his battle with oma and was now trying to regain his power via Atlantis, it would have been so cool. I doubt that Universe will include any gou'ald (although I have a beef with that series preimere)
Actually, the idea of believers giving ascended beings energy came later, however, you would have been right if they had came up with the idea sooner.
Anubis being half ascended meant that technically Oma couldn't interfere with him (since he still partially resided in our realm of existence). She had to fully ascend him in order to fight them but since their power is roughly equal the battle would be a perpetual stalemate.
@traitor0837 Well, that doesn't make sense, Anubis should win. He has worshipers, so he should be stronger. When the Ori get worshiped, they gain power, so Anubis should have more power than Oma. I say it doesn't make sense because he should have more power and he should win and he should be plotting to kill all life again.
Hes only half-ascended. Part of the deal was that he can only do things that he could do as a regular old Goa'uld, so no energy-draining like the Ori.
Milky Way replicators are even worse, their human forms are a lot stronger than the Asurans and they can copy any technology, theoretically surpassing the Ancients.
the asurans can also copy technology. they just love ancient tech, thats all. and they arnt as powerful as the ancients cos they abandoned them halfway, and the ancients wernt so powefu then.
They should make a new film where Anubis returns once again. The story line could be he destroyed Omah instead of Omah destroyed him. I don't have a good idea of what the film could be about but they should definately make one!!!
Anubis is such an awesome character. I mean tell me any TV guy who is MORE EVIL THAN HIM. I mean it is already impossible to be more evil than the Goa'uld themselves, but Anubis was considered too evil even in the eyes of the Goa'uld, which is probably impossible anyway.
His goal was not to rule the galaxy. No he wanted to ERASE ALL LIFE IN THE GALAXY. jesus
And this "Jim" also was awesome. I mean first you think Mr. Nice Guy and then its Anubis. It was made so cool.
Well the prophet of truth had acces to the info on the dreadnaught and he had guilty spark in his possesion for some time. It is hinted several times especially in halo 3 that truth in fact knows what he is doing but nobody really knows why for sure. And Yeah Anubis is freaking evil.
But that was a total copy of Anubis' last scene... anyway, Anubis wanted to ascend, and now he suffers the ironic fate of being trapped in that realm. Adria's death pales by comparison.
