  • the 100th like by me.. see how much ive liked!! :P

  • thumbs up if you think dilshan has dental insurance

  • rspect dilshan and mcullum for being great innovators of cricket. stop finding who is better. it is irritating. thumbs up if you agree

  • for some reason, dil-scoop reminds me of an ice cream scoop and makes me feel hungry!!

  • B McCullum> Dilshan

  • who wwas the firzt person to ply dis shot

  • I do not think this is the Dilscoop. Dilscoop goes right over the wicketkeeper's head.

  • Not a good as brendon mccullum

  • u must expect dilshan to do that to dem stupid west indies players

  • i first remember seeing gareth breese play a similar shot back in 05 or 06 and he seemed to play it well then

  • dil scoop is unique..itsda shot dat goes directly over the keepers head....not lyk any other scoop....ashraful plays its leg side version..i dunno ny other way to explain dat..but its just dat the bowl goes on top of the fineleg fielder..so dils coop is my dear fellas a dil scoop..and hell yeah he made it famous !!!!!

  • dont stop till u get enough

  • I saw this shot first played by Ashraful, thats y Commentator called this shot that time as a Ashrafuls special shot

  • go afridiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii

  • Brendon McCullum plays it pretty well.

  • dilshan made that shot

  • @MrLukespook123 actually the first guy to play that shot was zimbabwean douglas marillier. however, it was dilshan who made the shot famous.

  • this style of shot always fails in pressure situations misbah ul haq in the first T20 world cup final gave away the game as this shot failed and ofcourse the most consitent guy dilshan failed against mohammed amir pace trying to play this shot in a pressure situation. Both leading to losses.

  • wtf crickest is soo gay, every1 can do that shit. i play baseball and i think it is wayyyy chalanging and entertaining than stupid criket.

  • @skillaze215

    poor troll. really poor.

  • @skillaze215 well, not everyone can actually dude, it is a very talented game, it's a completely different ball game and if you don't like it, don't follow it, you could argue that baseball is a crap game, all you need to do is run around in a diamond but of course, I know there is more to it than that.. seriously..

  • Englan are test !st not sure bout ODI

  • This shot has offically been approved by the ICC in the 2009 Awards. It is in the batsman shots books and has been written under the name Dilscoop. Which makes it a real cricket shot.

  • first time brendon mcclum played that shot agains australia 2008...2 sixes in 2 balls...shaun tait was bowling.....fuk tait...

  • Adds another dimension to batting to say the least.

  • What a troll.

  • It's not a paddle sweep you retarded mong

  • It's called the Paddle Sweep :L

  • ammense how do you bowl to inative shots like this

  • His "dilscoop" got fuked over by mohammed amir in the final bitch try again ha ha

  • DilScoop is a Dilshan Special.....no argument in that......McCullum plays a good scoop shot too.....actually his shot also deserves some credits....cus' he too plays it so consistently.....may be we can name it as a McScoop or something.....but for me Dilshan's shot is the most stylish one.....anyway, these two are the bests in playing this vertical scoop shot in modern day Cricket...... ;)

  • that takes balls the size of grapefruits. otherwise its a 85 mph ball flush to the face. not glancing. flush.

  • McCallum cannot play the Dilsoop properly!!!!

  • Mccullum does it way better

  • u shuda watched da video 1st..mccullum is scared of da ball n he even fell..y cnt he stay in one place n scoop it over da keepers head lyk dilshan?? even murali plays mccullums scoop, its o big deal

  • fell because bowler chased him and was forced 2 go far outside offstump still controlled the shot he goes across so he can watch the ball onto the bat dilshan turns his head at the end mculum plays this better than ne1 because he has far more control than ne1 else

  • ryan campbell was the first to play this shot

  • McCullum can hit 100 dilscoop in a match...Dilshan invented it no doubt but Mccullum does it better

  • mcculum moves away from the ball, he's scared of da ball..Dilshan is fearless dats wat makes him beta than da rest...

  • u can checkout da videos urself...Da scoop which mccullum plays is not da dilscoop,...

  • mccullum loses his balance and falls down and he risks it too much but dilshan's scoop s very controlled

  • nice

  • nice

  • Take a gud look..Wen mccullum plays da scoop he moves away from da ball, evenif he misses, he'll be safe...But look at dilshans scoop...HE DUSNT EVEN MOVE AND DA BALL IS RIGHT IN FRONT OF HIS FACE!! DATS WAT U CALL TALENT...MCCULLUM CANT MATCH DAT N HE CANT BE DILSHAN..........

  • Mccullum owns this chump mccullums scoops got 20 meters over the rope for six

  • McCallum = cheap copy :P

  • @pubuman mccullum i think youll find plays the shot alot differently and hits it alot cleaner. i was at the game where he was scooping tait for 6, and i think if you were there you wouldnt be saying its a cheap copy...

  • @mattdaddybling I was there....

  • Dilshan plays it beta than ny other playr in da world..Dats y they call it da "dilscoop"...Taite is no challenge 2 dilshan, i've seen him beating da holy hell outa evry1..Dats y he's one of da best in da world..

  • McCullum did way better scoop shots then this

  • haha might b called the dilscoop but lets see him smash tate for massive 6s playing it like mccullum did and not the first or last time hes hit these shots for huge 6s

  • haha dilshan has smackd the holy hell outta tait b4 and he can still easily do it

  • Comment removed

  • lol my friend tried doing this shot at the nets against my fast balling and the ball hit him nicely on the helmet lololol

  • THATS MA NIGGGA

  • my fav t20 plyr

  • He may not be the first person to play that shot. But he deserves to have been given all the credits for it because he is the only one who executed that shot very well and he keeps on playing it.

No other batsmen have had the courage to do it.

there may be people who plays that shot every now and then but this man is the bravest to do that more often.he has got the consistency.

    So please don't be jealous.

    SO...............IT IS DILSCOOP.......

    GO DILSHAN GO............

  • my son occassionally practices this shot at nets. one of the fathers shouted that he should be practicing proper shots . I said it was the Dilshan . he just said something like he will get out. I felt like saying get a life . No wonder the English dont have many flair players

  • @minchi279 Have you ever heard of Brendon McCullum???

  • @minchi279 he invented some thing new of his own i hope it goes down in the books as a GOD knows what lol i cant stop laughing at that cux u hardly see that and da way he does it it went right over the keepers head

  • @minchi279 It is only a type of "Marillier effect". Douglas Marillier made it popular. In 2002 he "Marilliered" Zimbabwe to a famous win in India with a unbeaten 56 runs.

  • @minchi279 Well said.

  • @minchi279 he palyed that shot only a couple of times,he hasnt played that shot since that world cup,no body is jealous of dilshan fuck off

  • @minchi279 Two words...Brendon McCullum

  • THIS IS CALLED DIL SCOOP!!! Srilanka Fucked All team I Love Srilanka!!!! UMWAAHA

  • @shan7522 same here!

  • it isn't called a vertical sweep, its called the dipsey shot

  • the official name is DILSCOOP...! endoff

Dilshan is the best batsman in the world at the present moment along with Sehwag

  • @mcdelive Who Told He Is Best BATSMAN with SEHWAG???(DONT MIND)Where DILSHAN and Sehwag were vs ENGLAND.

  • wow wtf lol, hes got balls to play such a cheeky and innovative shot, kudos man!

  • Dilshan Love you Yar!!!! And Keep It up!!!

  • No one can play it consistantly as Dilshan does, he pulls it off almost everytime he tries it, so I think he should get the honour.

I haven't seen McCullum play it again, plus he was off balance n looked crap the only time he did play it.

  • well said mate....!

  • @rockermaniac88

Assuming you saw the innings the other day, McCullum played it at least half a dozen times and half of them went for 6.

  • dilshan didnt invent it!

    it was ryan campbell!

  • Who cares who invented it? If Tendulkar or Ponting or whoever plays a cover drive, we don't all start carping on about how it might be a nice shot but of course so-and-so isn't the first to play it...

  • i was replying to someone saying that dilshan was the only who could play it or something, for some reason it didnt put my comment anywhere near theres

  • the Mohican

  • its called da DIL-SCOOP

  • he's got balls

  • wow Very Nice Shot

  • unlucky didnt work in t20 final

    lmaoooooooooo

  • put ur thumbs down i dont care but dilshan scoop actually copied previous great cricketERS DONNO

  • I agree, even Brendon McCullum played this shot in IPl one, the first game infact ( v=NaA6sJparSM at 5.59), over a year before Dilshan. "The first time I played it was two months ago in the Indian Premier League IPL in South Africa" from Dilshan himself.

  • hu came up wit the doosra? saqlain mustaq,

hu made it their own n popularized it?murali, but to take this shot to the extent and consistency as it is being played can only go to dilshan

  • true, fair comment.

  • This is dilshan's findings to the cricket text book.

  • Yes and No u see brendom mccullum played this same exact shot alot in the IPL 2008 for kolkata knight riders

  • Wow it would take a lot of courage to play a shot like this....

  • there actualy now the second best in the world in the icc rankins the list is

    1. south africa

    2. sri lanka

    3. india

    4. australia

    8. west indies

    9. bangladesh

  • @mrman890 your dam right

  • @mrman890 not now

  • @mrman890 Where were you man as India are no.1 in the tests for past 2 years.. and if you are talking of ODIs then i should tell you that Aussies never down to 4 in Odis..

  • @mrman890 wtf r u retarded. Thats not even close

  • @mrman890 Sorry mate, but Sri lanka are not better than India.

  • @MrNornironfan do you still stand by this comment?

  • @tibsylad I do indeed.

  • @mrman890 i think u r motha created this rankings,that is ur dream

  • Very unique

  • He got out in the t20 final bcos of this shot.

  • no he didnt he top edged a hook straight in the air

  • no he didnt, in the final he tried to hook but got an edge

  • haha

that's what dilshan get 4 trying to be clever

  • sri lanka are the greatest team ever

  • i remember ryan campbell the ex aussie backup keeper playing this shot- got good value for it

  • RC plays in the ICL now for Ahmadabaad Rockets.

  • sri lankans aren't human. they seem to be coming up with new ways of playing cricket all the time. low arm bowlers, carrom ball flickers, jayasuriyas baseball style stance and angled bat method. this.

just to show they could do it the proper way if they wanted they gave the world jayawardene who's the most technically and aesthetically pleasing batsman in the game right now.

  • LOL!

  • hes a bad example when i go to the nets with my friends they start playing this shot and most of the time they get bowled and by the way the only reason he played this shot is he was going for the R.sweep and it came into him so he flicked it over his head because he was already on his knees.

  • well, don't tell them to play it.

  • Ur batsmen get out coz they cannot play that shot. But dilshan never got out because of this shot. If you see the ball and if you know physics, u can play this shot. I play this shot and it is always a four run shot.

  • Baseball is derived from cricket. But it is another ball game all together. There are people who like cricket and people who like baseball and some who hate both.

Stop being childish....what do you mean it has been perfected? It became another game owing it's thanks to cricket.

Don't underestimate origins, you don't have to like it. But acknowledge it :)

  • base ball is a shit nd cricket is the best

  • is Marillier shot Douglas Marillier invented it so is called Marillier shot

  • Baseball derives from Cricket.

  • Oh, indeed. It is the further developed version. Perfected, you could say.

  • thats tight!

  • If only Americans cared. Then I would be able to understand this......

  • yeah i dont understand at all

  • fuck yea sri lanka!!

  • i love this shot fuckin awesome

  • watch my videos of t20 world cup finals

  • It is not a shot you can play regulary. I have started doing it in nets and it works very effectivley against medium pacers but now they either bowl much faster or further outside off peg so i cannot play it too often. and i do this without a helmet!

Its a shot to be used once a match the same goes for deft sweeps & reverse sweeps as again the spinners at my club have found me doing little flicks and fast bowlers walking down the wicket...

Fantastic shot and shows the innovation in 20/20

  • U bloody noob. you must be talking about ur dreams . I have seen u play and you never faced a fast bowler in the academy.

  • seen who play?

  • He got out of this shot in the final .Bowlers have picked his scoop shot they bowled short to him and he didn't realise the tactic. He can't play this shot regularly.

  • he didnt play this shot in the finals....

  • This is a great cricket shot....

i have seen several people played this kind of shots..but this is truly unique for dilshan.....

He won't loose his teeth cuz he can judge the phase and the length of the ball very quickly. He is a wristy player.

And sri lanka is not a terrorist nation. We have defeated fucking LTTE....

8th wonder of the modern world.

  • looks like cricket to me. Lol

  • First time i saw this shot played was by Craig White in 1999. went for an attempted sweep and flicked it over his head as it was outside off stump.

  • magnificent shot!!!

  • U all r retards... Douglas Marillier of Zimbabwe has invented this shot n this shot is known as Marillier shot.Though Dillscoop is slightly modified version of it but Marillier should have all the credit.

And All u Porki retards,u seem to litter all youtube-abusing and passing bad comments, common its not Pakistaan so that u pick fights n practice terrorism...plz be at peacethis is youtube remeber

And winning a T20 wc is not a big thing, the next one is in 9 months,u better prepare to defend it.

  • 9 months???????????u cock sucker

  • As far as I remmember, waqar younis several times play this type of shot! this isnt new shot .

  • shame pakistan won the finals and dilshan out on the a duck no runs haha shame u sti lankan s,,,,,,,,, pakistan zindabaaaad

  • watch it ...we paki consider lankans as our friends.

  • thax guys.and we consider pakis as our frends....come on whats with he hostility gys?

  • we will c wt happ in sri lanka........Pakistan will lost both the tests and one days

  • I have seen Ryan Campbell, Tatenda Taibu, Dinesh Ramdin are playing this shot, Dilshan got more chances to try this, but this is very effective in T20

  • Yes..Douglas Marillier ..was the first to play these shots back in 02!

  • I wonder how many club batsmen are having their teeth fixed today after trying this over the weekend? I'll stick to the more traditional ways of scoring and keeping my teeth! lol

  • he said that its called "the starfish" because it has no brain! lol its a stupid shot but it works!!

  • The Dilshot

  • just like with afridi in 2007

    dilshan failed

  • its called the DILSHAN

i dont want those in the final :P

  • i'd call it vertical scoop!!

though that looks hideous it pushes bowler's irritation.

  • this isn't original, ryan campbell played a very similar shot in the late overs of an odi

  • these shots all began with douglas marillier, who played it against the aussies in a tight match back in 02. everyone started adapting similar shots after that. dilshan is the first to do it directly over the wicketkeepers head though [intentionally]. cricket journalists and commentators wouldn't be going on about it praising it if it hadn't been original.

  • He isn't the first professional player to do it, its been done quite a few times intentionally in English county cricket, but he IS the first international player I've seen play the shot...

  • you got that from sky sports suggestions! :P

  • is this same as douglas marillier's shot ?

  • yes i think so

  • Dilscoop was coined by Mahendra Mapagunaratne - the Sri Lankan lawyer living in Toronto. He also coined the term Carrom Ball to describe Ajantha Mendis' finger flicking delivery.

  • The Dilscoop goes straight over the wicket keeper's head whereas the Paddle Scoop goes towards fine leg - a la Misbah ul Huq.

  • ha.. copy paste from wikipedia, huh! :)

  • The Dilscoop

  • everyone is talking about this shot! Is it a Turtle? Is it a Frying Pan? Is it a Starfish? whatever, it's the future of cricket!
