I have always admired Horowitz even though he did make mistakes. The piano rolls made by the great pianists were marked out in ink as they played. The roll was then hand cut by technicians. After a trial run through, any wrong notes or timing discrepancies could have been corrected on the master, and perfect copies reproduced!

I don't know if this was the case, but most certainly, it was possible. In many of today's studio recordings the best bits are pieced together. - Technician/ Tuner.

The sound is a LOT better with this mic. Sounds great - mellow tone. Horowitz also recorded for Welte before coming to the US. In later years he would become enraged when asked to autograph one of his piano rolls. This beautiful piano is certainly unique - a Chickering with a Duo-Art system with an Ampico B drawer ! Wow!

@aardvaark069 I know you're not a fan of the Duo-Art system. The Duo-ARt needs to be well maintained. The Duo-Art is capable of great expressive life-like performances - but you have to have the piano adjusted and tweaked regularly (my experience).

@bigcity233 I probably would be a Duo-Art fan if more posts of duo-art performances were done by resposible parties like yourself. The Ampico posts on youtube make it seem as though their owners actually care how their sytems perform and are percieved. Almost none of the duo-art posts are even marginally acceptable as believable music. They should be ashamed and embarassed. A terrible disservice to these wonderful machines. Thanks for your care.
