@Olva1994 yes, i used the mouse in this video to select some notes and deleted them with a right click (ctl + click on mac) you have access to most all functionality. They did a good job with the software, but nothing is as good as the touch pads and knobs.
I"ve been trying to decide rather to invest in the MPC 5000 or Maschine and for what I've seen Maschine do and the price range, you just convinced me to go with Maschine.
@lvngdead its pretty easy to change octaves but not as easy as a piano, for example.. If you wanted to move up and down octaves switching a lead or bass it wouldn't be hard but I don't expect to transpose real time to play a live piano part... maybe if you practiced, but for live stage play you could easily move to another octave range.
can you make a tutorial vid to explain exactly what you did at each step? This was some pretty sick music and a nice live performance. Thinking about getting maschine instead of an mpc500 and wanted to see it's abilities. Thanks so much
That my man, is fucking awesome! Sound like something that could be publish for real! Amazing job.. The sounds your working with, they all come from the Maschine software?
@alixwesterhoff 95% of those sounds are from the Maschine ROMs that come with the unit. The Siren, the classic break loop that I chopped up at the end and the word "break" are my own samples. The pianos, kits, drums, snares, bass lines, and other sounds are built in... same with all the onboard FX.
I got maschine the other day did you get these samples from maschine or are they yours i love freestyle old schol dance music and trance and synth pop Will Dale toronto canada
You can get 4x16 patterns, groups, its plenty for a song for sure, in 2 to 3 days i pretty much learned it all, reading the manual as i go along a track!!
ive never used these machines before and i do a lot of editing on my synth heavy sounds but im unable to perform them so im looking for something to use live where i can store preedits while i improvise on top of the edits. i take it that it's possible to do this on this machine, but how easy is it to learn all the functions? will i be swamped with all the controls? there a steep learning curve? thanks
top man, thats a good demo, Iv'e been thinking of getting one of these for a few weeks, having read this months demo review in Computer Music.. think seeing this has just crystallized my decision...cheers matey
Schweeet! I just purchased Maschine after alot of research! I am happy to see your video made me feel confident of my purchase. Now I can't wait for it to arrive!
This was filmed with an Apple iSight (1st Gen) the silver one with firewire connectors, 640x480. I used ScreenFlow to record the maschine interface and the camera for my hands. I then used Audio Hijack to record the App and then combined the live recorded sound with the live recorded video (so I don't have crappy camera audio but instead have direct line from my mac). The Picture in picture is handled by ScreenFlow.
Maschine has its own sequencer which requires a PC. Other grooveboxes do not. Thats the big difference. Other groove boxes also use a ROM chip (most of the time) to pull samples. (kick, snare, etc, etc)
Maschine doesn't have a ROM.. it uses Direct From Disk Samples (.wav, .aiff, etc) so any sample you have on your PC can be used as a pad.
Grooveboxes have a linear playhead, from start to finish. Maschine has 8 independent playheads for each of the 8 groups.
16 tracks per group. 8 groups per song. each track can be a single sample like a bass kick or it can span the keyboard length like a piano. 2 FX per sound, 2 FX per group, 2FX master (limiter / maximizer). There is global quantization as of patch 1.02 as well as scene quantization. Which will be nice so you can pretrigger a scene 8 bars away and then freestyle for the remaining bars and it auto switches. My video didn't have this as I did all my switches live and had no realtime quantize.
This is awesome and i cant wait to get my maschine. Memo to myself - never ever buy from the ni onlineshop. You pay the most and are the last one to get maschine. Grrrrr

How many instruments/sounds can you have per track? Its look like 16, can you have more?
Is the quantize global? Can you quantize just one instrument and leave the others? Please let me know. Thx
