Nurse-practitioners and physicians-assistants aren’t part of a “team”. They are either physician extenders, or in the case of nurse-practitioners, nurses who try to play doctor on their own.
But in most cases, they aren’t necessary entities. They are helpful...kinda like having an extra set of hands.
If physicians would stop being so money hungry, nurses wouldnt have to pick up your slack. Do you know the pay cut they take being an NP, and most of the time they provide quality care that is equal to or above that of a physician. Not to mention that theyre willing to relocate to an area in which a physician would frown upon! Also, he called her "Doctor" because she has a DNP, just as if you where to call a Ph.D "Doctor".
See? This reporter is confused as well. Refers to her as “doctor”, the way he’d refer to a physician as “doctor”. That is exactly what the nursing profession wants.

Nurse-practitioner week? Is there also a lab-tech week? And a garbage-collector week?
Or how about a guy-who-adjusts-the-alignment-on-my-car week?

@DrSandmann PAs and NPs are valuable to the healthcare TEAM... Why don't you stop dumping on them and get over yourself...
