can you add an extra crash to the kit? is it possible? like as in some other brands, u cant add cause there's a maximum number of holes to plug in the brain.
wait , ur talkin about that latency , but do you have a midi-in then? my 505 has only a midi out, so i cant send other sounds to my module...(from my pc) any expierience or knowledge bout what is possible? exept buyin a completer new module, cheerss
The bass drum doesn't respond well to fast notes, so there is no point in buying a double bass pedal for this kit. If you want to use double bass with this kit, just change the hi-hat control pedal to a double bass sound. It may be hard to use at first but you get used to it and it works fine :)
can this set be used for like hardcore stuff? and can you download sounds for it? cuz i want a set that you can make for bands like born of osiris and i bought this one lol please get back to me if you have the time i know this video is old but i gotta know lol thanks great vid to.

Thanks for this honest and in depth review! I'm happy I watched this since I was about to buy this kit before hearing about some of its limitations I hadn't known about before (like not being able to use mesh covers).
the only problem i have had out of this kit is the bass drum pad SUCKS. you have to hit it really hard for it to pick up but i took it apart and cut the rubber in between the head and the censer and that helped some but not much over all not bad. i got mine new in the box for 250$ and i am very happy with it other then the bass pad.
So what you're saying essentially is "this kit's shite". You've repaired each pad once, replaced the original heads with Remos, shoved bricks in front of the bass module to stop it from moving, the latency of the brain module is far from responsive (to the point that you have it still in the bag it came in) and it's loud enough when you strike it without an amp to wake the dead (which really kinda destroys the ambience when you're jamming at low volumes). What's good about it again?
@thebishop72 upon my search for a great electric set, ive found that for EVERY DECENT Set in the 500 range has the need for repairs :/ the next level is the 1500 range until they dont if ever need repairs
im 14 and i am looking to buy a cheap(ish) electric drumkit i have previously had a pearl xp and other regular drumkits . i am pretty good on drums and am looking to find a quieter alternative to playing loud . so i figured i should get one . would you reccomend this dd502 or a different one . tap back cheers :P
@SShireto Yes nearly every electric set allows you to change any sound to anything so you could have a weird double base with the smashing of the hihat pedal - just buy double bass pedals dude
so would you say that the Alesis Trigger and BFD sound and perform better than the OSP module? I plan on getting a set like this but if there is latency with the MIDI out of the DD-502 module it'd be kinda useless to me..
I've had my DD 502 from OSP for 2 years now and it is very good. I put Evans G1 clear heads on the kit and they are great. I get very good rebound from the pads. The pads are velocity sensitive from the edge to the center for natural dynamics. I agree the pads are'nt very quiet, but for the price of this kit it is a very good product. In my experience it is best to use jazz weight sticks like 7A. If you use to heavy of a stick I think you are asking for trouble with the triggers coming apart.
Oh thanks man, i have S2 but i cant get it to make good sounds, i like addictive drums better but this module wont change midi mapping so i have to get alesis trigger io.
I'm getting this kit for Christmas. It's in my garage. The only difference is the pads, I switched the plastic pads for rubber ;P I'm only a beginner with drums and my parents said i had to buy electrics or nothing at all. The noise....But anyway I'd probably rather electrics for some reason...Just find the acoustics a little loud..XD Merry Christmas!
anyone looking to buy good electric kit for very low price g]dont buy this save up and buy a dd 506 pro session kit such a good kit it has rim shot dual triggers on all cymbals and supports double bass peadl
hey, im considering a trade for my ludwig 5pc for one of these with a guy i know, my question is if i want to add more cymbals to i need to add onother brain? thanks
No I have not tried the MKII version, so I don't know the differences. All it cost me was the price of new mesh heads, which were about nine euro each.
They get power from a socket, like any electrical appliance. All the pads are plugged into a drum brain which the sounds come out of (headphones or line out). You record with a laptop or any device that can record line in.
hello did you say that the midioutput was useless becuse im goning to buy the milleniumkit and that the same kit like this, and i have Nuendo softwere and Ezdrummer do you know if that gone to work? or do i need to buy special midi harwere?
I got a DD-502 about 8 months ago, and have been useing my brothers bass amp with it. I really need to get my own amp but ive had people tell me i need a bass and some say i need a keyboard amp, what do you think? Also ive been wanting to get a double bass for it, do you think it would work good on it?
hey im going to be getting one of these soon and i was wondering like how do i set up a double bass pedle do i just buy one and also can i like assign the hit hat pedle to bass and make it a double that way?
Setting up a double pedal on it is easy, you just do it the same way as you would on an acoustic kit. And yeah, you can assign the hihat pedal to a kickdrum sound if you want.
I replaced the heads with mesh heads, you can see how to do it in stratocaster539's. The instruction booklet you get with the kit shows you how to assign different sounds to different pads, it's simple.
You can use remo heads but you have to modify the plastic ring so that it'll tighten. That or you can do the mesh head modification which you can find a video for on youtube by the user stratocaster539
if u have broke the skins tht many times then hit way to hard.but fair review on them i have this kit also and its fine ive had it for 1 and a half years and their still fine
There's no point lightly hitting the drums just to conserve them, because when you go onto a real kit you'll be playing too quietly, electric drums should be able to take the same hits as acoustic drums.
If you look up a user called "stratocaster539" he has a video detailing the modification. I changed it slightly in that I shaved the screw holes down rather than using builders tape.
The Brain is replacable. So are the drum heads, and thats is the most important! replace with oil heads Pronto! the sticks will break too.. lol Get good ones!
