  • I moved to J town in 1956,first on 26th ave & 11th st..then two blocks over across from the church on 9 st..lived there till i moved in 63,,,was a great place to grow up, in them days..everyone got along and no crime...wish the whole world could of been like Jtown...really missed those days

  • @bravedavemusic As real a s a busted fire hydrant! Google: Jingletown. Canneries, factories & mills formed an industrial cluster along the railroad line between 1880 & 1940. Turn of the cent small working class homes 4 workers employed by these cos. A mix of German, Italian & Portuguese immigrants, settled in Fruitvale. Paid good wages by the canneries & mills, workers were said to jingle coins in their pockets as they strolled home on payday--signifying their prosperity. Hence: "Jingletown".

  • @bravedavemusic yea Jingletown is a real place in East Oakland it used to be a portuguese neighborhood but since the late 50s till now it's a predominatly Mexican laltino neighborhood . i grew up near there on E7th st .
