  • I cammed my A6 back in '01 or '02 with a Bill Gude "Bullfrog" semi-race camshaft. I did the bolt-ons and threw on a Jun lighweight flywheel for a ZC and I had a BLAST delivering pizzas in that thing from '01-'04!

    At the time I had the Honda "IPC" parts catalog that broke down serial numbers and my '88 A6 was the 343rd ever made! It even had the same 22mm crank used in the JDM ZC motors!

    Most A6's have 24mm cranks.

    Mine was still never as fast as this one tho....Props 2 you!

  • What cam are you using? Revving past 7K would be pointless If it still the stock cam. I was running a stg 2 Crane cam in my A6 and it made power to around 7500rpm then dropped off.

  • Thing sounds like a bike engine untill you shift then you get that known Honda sound. I'm putting a ZC D16A6 boosted in a Mini cooper wagon. hoping to reach 200-220hp and hit low 13s on the 1/4

  • u can do it all for less then 2000 and have an easy 300 daily. and walk all over shitty h swaps and b swaps.

  • for all the wiring and hassle of an h swap it is not worth it. the mounts alone will set u back like 400 bucks. then finding a decent h22 for a good price is unlikly. put down 500 bucks, build the block with forged rods and some low compression pistons and do the turbo kit. the a6 block and head are more then capable of 400 hp with proper tuning. a t3/t4 57 trim would do the job with a cheap log mani. convert to obd1 get a crome chipped ecu and your good to go.

  • H22 weighs 40 lbs more than a B-series, and makes ~25 whp more than ITR, ~35 whp more than GSR, ~55 whp more than faggot B16, and has a lot more towque as well as actual midrange power.

  • Dyno sheets for all the various Honda engines stretch back for over a decade. If you are unfamiliar with them, perhaps you should educate yourself.

    H22 drivetrain weighs ~110 lbs more than a D-series drivetrain. It's an aluminum block 4 cylinder, kid, it's not exactly heavy nor at 2.2 liters is it remotely massive.

  • 160 hp advertised, maybe. Works out to around 135 whp and 109 wtq. My stock HX camshaft, all OE-part, cost less than $800 to assemble fresh engine and trans , D16 makes 140 whp and 125 wtq.

    Also, B16's leak oil from the pass front corner of the block, and are the first B-series to break a sleeve when breathed on. They are classically the cheapest way for idiots to buy "DOHC VTEC," which is NOT a guarantee of performance for the dollar.

  • hey i am not a b series fan, i myself drive an ef d15b2 with mpfi with intake/exaust which is like the d16a6, but these dohc vtec engines deserve some respect, they were the first to have 100hp per litter stock, b16a is not a beast, but b16b is, comes stock with 187hp, the most powerfull stock d series was the jdm d15b which was like 130hp, and i dont see how a d16a6 makes 140whp with oem parts. it came brand new from the factory with 110hp which is something like 95whp or something

  • yeh one of the d16 motors is one of the only dohc d series motors for honda. its the d16 zc motor made in japan that came stock in the crx and it made 135 hp stock.
