  • Wow, with Annette there regardless, (Im sure she didnt mind) the intimacy in that tribute. She's amazing as well as Warren!

  • She's awesome

  • AFI give this woman her own award!!!!!! She deserves it, com'n La-dee-da!!

  • Moving speech, Diane Keaton!

  • i didnt manage to make friends like that in my life.

  • what kind of face is that? 1:22

  • Stephen Sondheim's music makes it even more moving.

  • @tamerswan ,

    I quite agree!

  • Ultimately, Diane was too good for Warren. An original spirit like her has no place on the arm of a lothario.

  • @Messylin yes he is crying because, well life is not fair and he will never look like that again in the arms of a woman like that. love his work..and there is nothing like filmmaking...ah the industry......if you like trains in movies go see HUGO in 3-D......

  • @Messylin It's interesting that both Diane Keaton and Julie Christie, the two great loves of his life before Annette were both original spirits.

  • She is one 'classy broad, aint she?! I aint seen Reds in,like,an age but I think it was the 1st movie I saw her in,& thought she was ace.I adored her in First Wives Club, with Middler & Hawn,& thought her character stole the show. She does slightly neurotic, ditzy middle-years dame really well.A very pleasant tribute to Beatty. Not too saccharine or smaltzy!

  • Classiness all around--Diane for remembering their great love without bitterness, Warren for allowing himself to be moved by those memories, and Annette for being secure enough to smile and not to begrudge them that moment (very different from Catherine Zeta-Jones's expression during Annette's completely non-threatening reminiscences about "The American President").

  • OMG Diane, you brought tears to my eyes. Without a doubt, one of the classiest women in Hollywood.

  • I super love this. Thank you! As for thinking that what she said was rather inappropriate, come on, they're all adults here.

  • Diane Keaton looks so beautiful and has obviously made the wise decision to resist the desire to look plastic and phoney. I'm sure she's had some tweaking done. Like so many other actresses, with the pulled faces, duck lips, fake this and that, she looks genuine and has kept true to her self...I mean look at Faye Dunaway...once beautiful, now scary...

  • he's married and loves his wife, period.

  • @Melissa954 Sure he loves his wife and settled down with the right person. That doesn't mean he doesn't still have feelings for Diane and their time together.

  • She was never fat god that's crazy

  • That was damn skippy.....

  • I love what she says because you can read so much into it - or not.. Is she talking about the love of her life, or the greatest creative experience of her career? It's up to you. Beautifully , Warren gets the message.

  • Wow! I'm confused :-)

  • holy fuck....that was phenomenal....

  • Is it just me or warren seems always about going to cry

  • What is she talking about????

  • He was & probably always be in love w/her...& she would`ve married him. But.......

  • but he has a penis.

    We know, we know.

  • @haroof ..whats yr point?

  • what she is not straight?

  • Wow, Diane Keaton looks awesome and I would totally wear that. That was very emotional and even RDJ and Spielberg were tearing up!

  • whos the girl at 1:03???

  • Ameri she is a singer who sang 'one thing'

  • Warren looks constipated.

  • @contact1araya

That's because he is holding it in: Tears. :)

    Cause that was pretty emotional.

  • i didnt get it

  • She slept with everyone who was anyone...

like they slept with everyone, period.

  • Comment removed

  • This is pure and honest and beautiful. Even Robert Downey jr and Speilberg are totally captivated by her; sweet and to the point it's quite clear they still have the utmost affection and respect for each other. Diane has always been shy and reserved but when the time and the occasion are right: WOW!

  • well now i see what Al Pacino and Warren Beatty have in common they both dated Diane Keaton

  • has she ? or way hasnt she been given this award

  • I have to agree, you can see the love in there eyes, and when he was clapping you could see he was about to cry, simply bc of the memory of Diane and Warren. I think if they would have kept it going, they would have been married today. I seriously do believe they still love eachother. but i agree you can see it in both of there eyes in this clip. its beautiful i think.

  • when he's clapping warren looks as if he's going to cry

  • @wannabeangusyoung There are special women (no not THOSE women) in Warren's illustrious career....Diane's definitely on that list.

  • this was 2008?!

Diane Keaton is suprising all the time, and what Tigerlily21 said is true, she never really opens up, because she is a really private actress, but she is super honest.

  • Warren Beatty and Diane Keaton were an item for many years and the relationship ended with end of that film "REDS".

You can see on BOTH their EYES and EMOTIONS that they BOTH were remembering a GREAT LOVE from 25 - 30 years earlier...."As the One that Got Away..."

Even while his wife is sitting right there next to him...

  • i love it too! it`s dfferent but special.

  • I like this speech... but everyone says it's ballshit. To me is truthful and honest. And I love her anyway

  • who says it's bullshit? This is Keaton at her purest most honest. She never opens up like this. And it made me and almost everyone in there tear up.
