This one explains it in Cassie and Rachel (her friend who got shot too) perspective and has much more of a bittersweet atmosphere to it and a better moral/atmosphere is created, I love this song both ways anyway

Beautiful song with a lot of meaning. Though anyone who's shown an interest in this story has likely stumbled upon a sobering fact. The question "Do you believe in God?" was actually posed to another student whom was never harmed. In fact she's still alive today.

Initially the story was told by a student not even present in the class room based on what he was told by his sister. As knowledge travels by word of mouth in the heat of the moment a lot of facts are lost.

The exchange of words between Cassie and her killer, who still wasn't yet identified as being Eric or Dylan, wasn't really witnessed well. The report said that two people heard it froma distance and the closer one said that they had continued asking "Do you believe in God?" . If I remember correctly the furhter observer said that the killer simply said "Peek-a-boo" to her while she was praying. But you're right, either way the story is very compelling.

This version has much more feeling put into it than the Original Version. If you don't pay attention to the lyric you will think Flyleaf is in such a Rage but that's the same with any other Rock band as well and seriously most people will not pay attention to the lyrics and think it is a Rage song but if you careful listen to what they are singing their songs are full with meaningful Lyrics and feelings ;)

@lelaxx12 I wanted to know as well, but Cassie was actually a victim from the Columbine High School Massacre. The song is based off the idea of her being asked if she believed in God, then answering yes and being killed for it. This was found out to be wrong, as HydiestFaith so crudely says. But the idea is a powerful one, and just because the story is false, doesn't mean the faith is. If you're still curious, look up the Massacre. It's sad though.

Ok so the real deal is Cassie never said anything. The shooter bent down, said peak-a-boo, then shot her, this was an eye witness report from the girl sitting next to her under the table she was hiding. The real girl asked the question was Valeen Schnurr. She was asked, after she asked God to help her, if she believed in God. After saying yes and no she finally said yes because thats what her family believed. That was another eye witness report. Just giving the facts, don't shot the messanger.
