@hiiimcat I agree. I heard the other one before, but that one just explained the story in the perspective of another person. This one explains it in Cassie and Rachel (her friend who got shot too) perspective and has much more of a bittersweet atmosphere to it and a better moral/atmosphere is created, I love this song both ways anyway
so many people will always remember your story cassie...i have the book about you and you were such a strong person when it came to loving god....flyleaf loves you too and they make sure everyone will remember just by listening to this song.
I've loved music my whole life, and women. But the two never seem to connect. I've never been so inspired by a woman in music, who makes me feel my own honesty and love of God, and Life, and Love. For the last year or so you (and Flyleaf) have been not only inspiring my love of music, but you have brought me back to my roots, loving God, and for the first time ever I've found passion for a singer that is not base. You are so beautiful inside, thank you, Lacey. You are one in a billion.
Beautiful song with a lot of meaning. Though anyone who's shown an interest in this story has likely stumbled upon a sobering fact. The question "Do you believe in God?" was actually posed to another student whom was never harmed. In fact she's still alive today.
Initially the story was told by a student not even present in the class room based on what he was told by his sister. As knowledge travels by word of mouth in the heat of the moment a lot of facts are lost.
The exchange of words between Cassie and her killer, who still wasn't yet identified as being Eric or Dylan, wasn't really witnessed well. The report said that two people heard it froma distance and the closer one said that they had continued asking "Do you believe in God?" . If I remember correctly the furhter observer said that the killer simply said "Peek-a-boo" to her while she was praying. But you're right, either way the story is very compelling.
it is sad what this song really mean even though i wasn't there that day i fell so sad for those kids who died at that high school hopefully nothing happens like that ever again : (
I love this song, You guys are so amazing! Keep singing songs of faith in Jesus Christ it is so inspiring. May God keep guide you and inspire your music through the Holy Spirit.
@sammyvip123 no, cassie is not her sister! at first i didn't understand, but now I'm sure she means "sister in-Christ" i dont know if you're a christian or not so I'll explain that when someone is a christian, their other christian friends are considered brothers/ sisters in-Christ, because they are all children of God =) a big happy family! lol.
This version has much more feeling put into it than the Original Version. If you don't pay attention to the lyric you will think Flyleaf is in such a Rage but that's the same with any other Rock band as well and seriously most people will not pay attention to the lyrics and think it is a Rage song but if you careful listen to what they are singing their songs are full with meaningful Lyrics and feelings ;)
@iAmThePrettyGirl A girl killed in the Columbine high shootings. Apparantly her shooter asked her if she believed in God, and she said yes, and died for that. Look it up.
I really like this version because it gets the point of the original song across much better. I don't think the idea that they went for was communicated as well as they had desired, but I still think the original is amazing.
@mollygator24 there are actually three versions (so far as ive seen) the original, an acoustic that performed for The Rolling Stone that is more like the original, and this song which is personally my favorite...it adds a whole new meaning of emotions to the song
This song is so powerful and meaningful I believe that Cassie is an amazing person for standing up in what she believes in but it is so devastating that people cant just except the fact that we all have different belieefs and leave people like Cassie alone she had no reason to die and I will pray that this will stop even thoughits unlikely to,and I know God is treating Cassie amazingly and I am so grateful for that I love you God and R.I.P Cassie I want my soul to rest with you and my savior God
i love flyleaf but gettins tiered of all the religious comments. So what of their a Christian band. Their successfully because you can apply their songs to wider subjects or personal issues. How many people have suffered because of their beliefs Nelson mandala to name 1. How many people have a disability enjoy life more than most millions (fully alive), how many of us have felt hated for not fitting in, all of us (so sick). Just listen to the music for what it is and enjoy
@lelaxx12 I wanted to know as well, but Cassie was actually a victim from the Columbine High School Massacre. The song is based off the idea of her being asked if she believed in God, then answering yes and being killed for it. This was found out to be wrong, as HydiestFaith so crudely says. But the idea is a powerful one, and just because the story is false, doesn't mean the faith is. If you're still curious, look up the Massacre. It's sad though.
@HydiestFaith Funny you have a username with the word Faith in it when you obviously don't get the meaning. Faith is following what you believe in blindly only on your trust in it before seeing it with your own eyes, touching it with your own hands. I can't think of a more dignified way to enter the kingdom of heaven, using my last breath as a leap of faith. Reminds me of another person who didn't refuse to be a child of God and was put to death because of it. I know Cassie is beside him.
Two guys came to there school and where shooting people, they shot quite a few people just to shoot them, then asked some people if they believed in God, if they said yes, they got shot. R.I.P.
uuuh, whos this dedicated to? some shootings thingo? sorry if i sound disrespectful but i dont get it. anywho LOVE THIS SONG! love her, love the guitar looooooooooooove flyleaf :) xxx
@MrFirestorm102 i heard some kid(s) brought a gun to school and the guy pulled the gun on her and asked her if she believed in God and she said Yes and he shot her.
oh i never knew this song was about that girl in that shooting. although i only learned about the shooting recently and the last time i heard this was a rly long time ago.
@0777Productions Judas didn't deny Jesus. Peter was the one who denied him three times to save his own skin. Judas turned Jesus over to the 'law' and then, depending on which translation and teaching you go by, went insane and saw demons everywhere and killed himself, or was overcome with grief over what he had done and then killed himself.
OMG yes thank you. I have been trying to find this song in a good quality for a while and I'm so glad you put it up here for me to stumble over. I wish I could buy the CD's but as a broke college student I can't at this time. :( I do have one of their CD's, I just wish I could have all of them (already out and out in the future).
Thing is though.... this song is meant to be all about how she died for God because she loved him. But it just marks the fact that religion can hurt people, like the song 'Tina'.
I agree with kamii0428. It's sad that people believe that if you're different from other people they should kill them. They need to find something to devote themselves to so they have at least a few people to call brothers and sisters.
its about the columbine shooting tards. as i have heard it the kids shot up the school, took hostages and asked if this girl belived in god she said yes so in their eyes they killed her to be with her god, and they shot themselves.
Okay from what I understand the story is that someone put a gun to Cassie's head and said, "Do you believe in god?" She answered yes. A girl named Rachel was standing nearby and knowing what would happen said she also believed in god and she was killed as well.
Ok so the real deal is Cassie never said anything. The shooter bent down, said peak-a-boo, then shot her, this was an eye witness report from the girl sitting next to her under the table she was hiding. The real girl asked the question was Valeen Schnurr. She was asked, after she asked God to help her, if she believed in God. After saying yes and no she finally said yes because thats what her family believed. That was another eye witness report. Just giving the facts, don't shot the messanger.
These girls are heroes. Im not even christian and I think that they're inspirational. Imagine being young and beautiful and have your whole life ahead of you and sacrifice yourself for something you love? These girls were lucky because they had a connection with God so strong they were willing to end their life for him. They're amazing and brave, God bless them.
@FreeLanceWarrior hmmm yeah it is quite overdramatic and yeah there its not really very noble to choose to end your own life. If i was to ever be in a situation like this(God forbid it to ever happen of course) i would be grateful for having saved my own life by lieing but then i would feel very guilty for having denied God's presence to anyone because that is something i just cant ever do.just how i feel.and im not saying that anyone who believes in God should feel this way.just how i feel.
@FreeLanceWarrior ok well i see where u might think that statement is crazy cause i read it and frowned at first but what he meant by "dignified manner" is that if it ever came to a time where it was life or death and u had to make a choice between standing up for wat u believe in or not, then he would be strong and stand for wat he believes in. it is a bold statement but for us who believe in God, we know that God will ultimately take us home.
@RozuHime Getting your face blown off isn't very dignified to be honest. And, I hate to break the myth, but Cassie was NEVER asked if she believed in God. Eric Harris tapped the table said, 'Peek a boo' and then shot her.
Do you believe in God?' Written on the bullet Say yes to pull the trigger And my Sister Cassie pulled it They didn't love their live so much As to shrink from death Inspired in their footsteps We will march ahead Don't be shocked that people die Be surprised you're still alive
All heads are bowed in silent reverence The floor is wet with tears of sorrowful remembrance The alter is filled with hearts of repentance Perfect love kills all fear, rejoice in this deliverance They didn't love their live so much As to shrink from death Inspired in their footsteps We will march ahead Don't be shocked that people die Be surprised you're still alive

this song is not bad. lacey didnt use cassie's death to further her carrer, she wrote this song because she has an enormous heart, and she felt for her, and her friends and family, this is a genuine song written out of love and compassion, not greed.

This song, however, is abuot a person who stood up for their faith and died for it.
It doesn't matter if the story is true or not. That doesn't change the fact that two kids got very sad and killed a lot of people.

its about the columbine shooting tards. as i have heard it the kids shot up the school, took hostages and asked if this girl belived in god she said yes so in their eyes they killed her to be with her god, and they shot themselves.
partygirl801 10 months ago
Okay from what I understand the story is that someone put a gun to Cassie's head and said, "Do you believe in god?" She answered yes. A girl named Rachel was standing nearby and knowing what would happen said she also believed in god and she was killed as well.

edwardishot25 10 months ago
@edwardishot25
Ok but if they say "Do you believe in God..... Say yes to pull the trigger" means saying yes would make the shooter pull the trigger.

she's my idol. her voice is so...idek. it's amazing.
cravenraven1901 10 months ago

If i was to ever be in a situation like this(God forbid it to ever happen of course) i would be grateful for having saved my own life by lieing but then i would feel very guilty for having denied God's presence to anyone because that is something i just cant ever do.just how i feel.and im not saying that anyone who believes in God should feel this way.just how i feel.
kikigirlxox 10 months ago
@FreeLanceWarrior ok well i see where u might think that statement is crazy cause i read it and frowned at first but what he meant by "dignified manner" is that if it ever came to a time where it was life or death and u had to make a choice between standing up for wat u believe in or not, then he would be strong and stand for wat he believes in. it is a bold statement but for us who believe in God, we know that God will ultimately take us home.

this is amazing.

@RozuHime Getting your face blown off isn't very dignified to be honest. And, I hate to break the myth, but Cassie was NEVER asked if she believed in God. Eric Harris tapped the table said, 'Peek a boo' and then shot her.

@RozuHime I'd rather not die at all, but maybe that's just me

It's not even completely about being a Christian, guys. It's about standing up up for what you believe in, no matter what.

this makes me happy 2 be a fan of flyleaf and lacey, she rites not bout love andbreak ups but real things like tina and cassie
RockMosherParaWhore 1 year ago
this song is not bad. lacey didnt use cassie's death to further her carrer, she wrote this song because she has an enormous heart, and she felt for her, and her friends and family, this is a genuine song written out of love and compassion, not greed.
