From what I've seen, this battery is hard to get, has to be ordered from China, and is very expensive. Looks out of reach of most. Would I be able to use a Dewalt 36v battery pack and simply attach the pos and neg outputs to the two unused battery terminals on the Currie? The Dewalt pack is also lithium-ion cells and advertises 2000 charges and no charge memory problems. And weighs 2.4 lbs. Do you think this would work?
What do you think about using a Dewalt 36v battery? Only 2.4 lbs., 2000 charges. My bike only has one battery and I could hook it to the unused battery connector on other side. Cost's more than a matching Currie battery but the Currie battery weighs at least 18 lbs. and is a lead acid, which has a shorter life.
The Dewalt batteries will run powerful, high torque power tools for quite some time and it looks like those duties would equal a few miles on an electric bike. Maybe one battery would power a bike about as long as the lead acid batteries that come on a Currie bike, which are good for maybe 10 miles. But then, I wouldn't want to spend $200 or more to find out.
Can you please link me a site where i can get another battery that would fit on the rack. And i wanna know if it comes with the Currie electro drive removable case. Thx
did you have to change the controller?

Get a 36v10ah from Ping and you can fit it in the stock battery box (looks MUCH better). Only $250!

Where can you get this battery? I'd love to try the DeWalt idea - plus I know where I can get one of those!

I just bought one of these Currie bikes and was wondering why you use the K&N filter over the motor - dust problems with the motor?
Thanks

Wow, someone else asked the exact same question as me. Maybe I'm on the right track. The Dewalt battery is about $169.00 not including the charger.

The Dewalt a123 batteries are awesome but are very low ah so they don't last long. That is why you see people with 8 of them hooked up to there bike.

See my other video on how to keep the motor cool when running it at 36v.

Correction on instructions:
Use 10AWG multi strand wires not 20AWG.
