@Mpftmead... I think the sound you are referring to is the gearing, as these cars have straight cut gears which are stronger but noisy. Gearing on street cars are angled for less noise. I love the noise though!

@Kochiminator2 It was fun for the fans, but he broke a shock (damper) and screwed up his back. I read he was behind and desperate to make up time. The other cars didn't jump as far because they slowed down to avoid just such an occurrence. Notice on the 6th car (the yellow car) you can hear him let off the gas considerably before the jump.

The "yellow" car is a Metro 6R4, one of the last and great Group B cars. NA engine - no turbo unit like the Audi Quattro and Ford RS200, to name but two.

hey! That's because the drivers of them keep on the gas! good little fact: Landing with al four wheels causes the springs to harmonize and makes the car to bounce its weight/traction off the wheels. Not too important in a straight line but useful in the dirt roads
