If you don't play this game go to the EQOA website and order a copy, the price is nothing compared to the value of the game and community. It's much more relaxing to play this game than warcraft or everquest 2, it doesn't require you to be at the controller/keyboard 24/7 to get stuff done. If you're not already playing it try it out, it's one of the best out there.

Brad "The Vision" Mcquaid was main guy behind EQ1, EQ2, and Vanguard. He was responsible for all of the really bad ideas such as "sit here for 4-5 minutes after each fight while your mana regenerates."

Legend has it that he was too addicted to opiates and Heroclix to do any actual work on Vanguard.

Ahhh, EQOA isn't the sit here for 4-5 minutes and wait to regenerate type of MMO though, it is more fast paced.

Yeah but they still didn't exactly make xp grinding fun. Monsters did respawn faster but it was more practical for your group to just stand in one spot and kill the same two or three respawning enemies over and over for eight hours than to run around and do it the fun but less efficient way -- so you rarely found groups that wanted to do it the non-boring way.

It was a good game, but like many online games -- other people's attitudes ruin the experience.
