  • Amazing song i just wish the ending was longer lol it gets uplifting then ends lol

  • Incredible lyrics, voices, instruments, music - SONG

  • Incredible lyrics, voices, instruments, music - SONG

  • Put this on repeat and sprinkle with Punch Brothers liberally for the tastiest musical nightcap ever.

  • @doubtmachine I frakking love this song, especially 3:00 to the end.

  • dannybva and @mecofield it isnt a six string violin its a gamba :) look it up

  • Very good. I'm at a loss for descriptive phrases. Definitely very impressive.

  • @Snagglefratz -did this get any recognition at the Grammys?..probably not,

  • i'm in heaven.......this is glorious music.

  • Did anyone catch the Fathom Events simulcast of The House of Blues show last week or was lucky enough to actually be there?

  • Oh, Edward Meyer, Chris Thile and Stuart Duncan (along with Aoife O'Donovan on this song) wrote all of the music on the CD.

  • I went to the theater on Jan 31st and watched the live telecast of their concert at House of Blues. Absolutely AMAZING! Chris' mandolin sounded awesome on a Bach sonata and it was totally cool to see Yo-Yo Ma rock out with Stuart Duncan on some old tyme Mountain Music.

  • I really like this song and I'm only 10!

  • what instrument is Chris playing in the intro?

  • @mecofield I'm pretty sure that it is a 6 string violin.

  • This is simply.... sublime

  • Very Cool .... Not sure how I got here but I'm glad I found it

  • Some of the masters of their respective instruments right here.

  • these people are ridiculously good.

  • anyone have a link for "the Colbert Report?"

  • did YoYo say "squeel, sucker?" wry guy

  • Reminiscent of "Hands", but way beyond where you think it's going. Really wonderful lyrics; love this sound so much! Do another album, guys. Keep a good thing going.

  • At 0:29, just after Chris says, "three," you can hear Edgar whisper, "Don't fuck up." Classic. Stuart is still smiling about it at 0:37.

  • @U2BRTOO Impressive ears. Listened to this a thousand times and never heard that before.

  • Performances like this one restore my faith in humanity.

  • Is it weird that I love heavy metal, but find this just as good as any metal song I have come across recently?

  • @NoobBrood1 Not weird at all. I'm in the same boat. Like a good metal song, it well-composed and builds in intensity. Edgar Meyer and Bela Fleck (on their 'Music for Two' live album) did a bass/banjo duet called "Wooly Mammoth" that's mindblowingly heavy and shines in its virtuosity. I can't find it for free to listen to, but it's an epic composition, Metallica's "The Call of Ktulu."

  • For any of you who want to see more of Aoife singing, and watch a nice interview of her and her band, search YouTube:

"Crooked Still: Building Songs Old & New"

This interview/song is one of five segments filmed by secondcousincurly - well done and enlightening...

  • My Head Exploded?

  • Please post the lyrics! This is awesome!!!

  • @mckenziered7 - The lyrics can be found by googling the following:

Thy grace is sufficient: "Here and Heaven"

The lyrics are below the video...

  • No sé si es amor. De lo que no tengo duda es que sí es obsesión. Seducida por esos giros enloquecidos, por esas sensuales vueltas, por esos rodeos tan sugerentes.

  • Awesome. Power and passion. Who can dislike this?

  • how does it get any better than this?! totally obsessed with this song/video

  • Thanks for a fabulous tune, beautifully performed. Viola da gamba - come on, guys, pick up the bow and see what this baby can really do!

  • what wa yo yo ma tuning in the beginning lol...

  • Someone asked what instruments they were playing. Fiddle, Cello, viol, banjo. What a wonderful blend of instruments and voices.

  • chills! This is beautiful!

  • What instruments are they playing? Amazing!?

  • This is album is what America sounds like. It's a new age Copland.

  • Goats, Look on the liner note on the back of every album and movie you have loved for the past 20 years and you will find them. Goats have been making music sound great for everyone else. Now listen as the goats shine. I love Nashville. They may be stars, We call them neighbors. Cross bows.

  • imo interesting instrumentals are the basis for a lot of good music and this is definitely a great example.

  • Yeah, I love the goat rodeo sessons... I think they need more songs with singing though.... it fits perfectly.

  • these guys rock it, love it! keep it up yall!

  • This song is one of the greatest things I've ever heard.

  • such a great song

  • Thank you Colbert.. we love you

  • I can hardly breathe.... my favorite music is Celtic.. my favorite cellist is Yo-Yo I also love goats..haha You have been able to reach my heartstrings and when played loud you have reached my inner rhythm.. I thank you for honoring my Celtic roots.. excellence.. pure and simple. From Hawaii I say Mahalo Nui Loa.

  • i cant get this song outta my head it's so infectious. i love the twists and turns.

if i were a DJ i would remix those vocals to a trippy deep house beat (don't puke)

  • These guys are extremely talented. Kinda reminds me of Iron and Wine

  • You wanna hear Aiofe swear??

    Talk about SEXY!!

youtube search - Sometymes Why Too Repressed live

  • I'm from southern Louisiana where bluegrass is common, But this is unbelievable.

  • @Tahoevoe Totally unbelievable. I'm covered in goosebumps and completely speechless.

  • I would not have looked for this if it weren't for the bit on "The Cobert Report". I love it.

  • This is far away from my niche as far as music is concerned, but these instruments and styles combine so beautifully. This entire album takes me to a place I haven't been before.

  • The soulful energy and passion in this piece is astonishing! I am blown away!

  • what does yo-yo say at the end? Also, just unreal how good this group is

  • @MicrophoneAssassin13 "He swears like a..." I suspect propriety kept him from finishing it with, "mother****er."

  • @miguelitopobrecito he was probably gonna say "he swears like an Irishman" but then realized that the guy is probably Irish.... so decided motherfucker was more PC.

  • @miguelitopobrecito I think he said "that is how you hit the GD note right there!

  • cant stop hearing it...sounds soooo goood

  • This is what beauty sounds like.

  • what a great combination of musicians amazing! (a bit disappointed to see Thile is a ranger fan but hey nobody is perfect)

  • beautiful!

  • East meets West in beautiful synchronicity. A masterpiece.

  • Amazing!

  • Wow!

  • Hard-charging Celtic-American chamber music with just a hint of the far east in the cello solo -- the combination of passion and precision is simply breathtaking! The changes recall the Punch Brothers' "Rye Whiskey" and the approach reminds me of Abigail Washburn's "Sparrow Quartet" project. I pre-ordered the CD from Amazon along with Andy Statman's "old Brooklyn" -- and boy am I glad I did!

  • wow....such precise and beautiful sounds...so amazing!!

  • Simply beautiful! Great to see a master like Yo-Yo Ma continuing to expand his eclectic sound. I get goosebumps every time I hear this song. Thanks for the post!

  • chill bumps

  • theyre so good

  • The sound that reverberates from the coming together of voice and instrument is incredible, completely satisfying and you just don't want it to end.

  • "That's how you hit a g0dd@mn not right there..."

Incredible. I can't believe this video only has 132 views. This is the coolest thing I've heard in awhile. Incredible.

  • AMAZING.
