  • One of my favorite performers of all time. I saw Steve Martin in a Banana Republic in L.A. He walked in the store as I was trying on a jacket. I don't know why but I turned to him with the jacket on and said, "What do you think?" He didn't say anything but smiled at me. I bought the jacket just b/c of that. I call it my 'Steve Martin' jacket.

  • turn it up

  • These two guys are at the apex of their professions.

  • Charlie Rose: fantastic

  • Psychedelic jacket.

  • banjo player man oh man he can play a banjo

  • this guy really has a plastic face. Either he wears so much make up or he's really made of plastic. And he's gay - Im sure as hell.

  • @argomax1 You're a sad idiot.

  • @loungelizard5000

so maybe I am. I have been fucking your ass for months, i should have known better.

  • @argomax1 That's a very intelligent statement. Did you go to an ivy league school? Then you bring up anal sex between men. Says a lot about you. Grow up you sick pedophile.

  • @loungelizard5000

    well you started it, mate.

  • @argomax1 No. You started by calling Steve Martin gay, and a rubber face....I mean, how 3rd grade is that? Jesus man. You're really a grown man? Seriously? Wow.

  • Somebody fix the vertical hold on Martin's jacket

  • i would follow him and let him swim over me :) he's a cool n funny man

  • Though Steve Martin seems to take out the 'punch lines...his timing tags the points of his discomforting situations beautifully. Jerry Lewis said: Comedy "is a man in trouble." Martin plays this truth repeatedly.

  • truly one of my heroes....mr martin got me through so so many dark, depressed lonely moments....then it all got reallly really small....

  • I grew up a poor black child.

  • This man hates these cans!

  • @joegrimesofcourse nicccccccccccccccccccccccce.

  • The best Oscar host ever.

  • he'll host again!

  • o melhor filme dele foi, fé demais não cheira bem(leap of faith) esse é o bom!

  • Interesting

  • one question - how old was he when his hair went white?

  • there wasnt any time measuring devices when his hair went white, so we cant really tell

  • he was in his early twenties

  • @sweetypie000 he had so much work done on his face! it was scary last time i saw him...

  • Martin looks like mcCane in this video!!

  • Martin is a comedic GENIUS! People forget how he changed comedy in the seventies, like the first rock n roll comedian!!

  • he doesnt have to be funny anymore he's loaded.

    An utter legend,

  • haha your talking about post Bowfinger Steve Martin

  • Just bought and read his book "Born Standing Up". Absolutely terrific. This man is not only the funniest man of our time, but surprisingly intellectual, introspective, and extremely intelligent. The linguistics utilized were on a par with some of the Best Authors of our time! How does one man get so much talent? He's surprisingly open about his personal life as well, when your done reading, you feel as if you've made a friend.

  • @eurobaby460

funny? where? he's rubbery, at most.

  • It's rare to see Martin candid like that. Not 'on' and just doing his job. For most of his career he's been rather guarded it seems. Cool to see him let his hair down a bit, metaphorically speaking.

"What if I never told a punchline?" There's more wisdom in that question than most people will ever know.

  • he's been letting his hair down since the early 90's

  • Steve makes me laugh uproariously! My father hates me, I'm the funniest guy I know.

  • Why are the great comedians so unhappy?? Comedy is clever = comedians are clever=audiences are stupid = so are comedians. RESULT= miserable lack of appreciation for the difficulty of getting a laugh...??

  • HuH? Haldenver, you're reading too much into it. Sometimes a cigar is just a cheeseburger.

  • No way : a cheeseburger is never a cigar..NEVER! I admit the reverse can happen sometimes.

Steve Martin needs to stop dissing "The Jerk"; and lay-off the art-collecting/play-writing intellectual pastiche. It's fart-cushions from here. Does he care about the American people? If Obama gets Oprah then Hilary needs Steve M and a lot of fart cushions. Think about it (in ZachsMind).

    Rgds HD

  • Steve Martin is one of the funniest comedians ever and he is certnaly one of the best writers along with Adam Sandler and George Carlin.

  • Adam Sandler????

  • Oh I mentioned Adam because like Steve, he co-writes the screenplays to many of his films. Does that answer your question?

  • adam sandler and steve martin in the same breath as writers? you've got to be kidding, martin is far superior as a writer than sandler, unless sandler is taking "how to write a screenplay 101" at NYU, and even that may not help. sandler's writing is shallow and juvenile. he writes for the masses and for his bank account.

  • Funny stuff. Thanks Charlie !!!!!

  • " I wannto buy a ambegga "

    hahaha

  • One of the greatest comedians of all time!!! More than just a wild and crazy guy!

  • um bosta

  • Hey... you're right!

  • i just read his autobiography Born Standing Up it was actually awesome.

  • A comedy actor.

He has`nt been in any big films for about 5-6 years..

  • A brilliant comedy writer that made himself into a fantastic standup comic in the 70's. Then he made crazy funny movies like, The Jerk,Dead Men Don't Wear Plaid, Man With Two Brains. Now he is a safe comedy standard for the Hollywood machine making more boring movies. Cycle of life...

  • and lest we forget the skit of King Tut from SNL!

  • See his film Bowfinger!

  • Where's your other hand?

  • Was Ron Paul mentioned in this segment? No. I am backing Ron Paul and this kind of non sequitur, Tourette's syndrome, attention-grabbing crap is not helping his campaign in the least.

BTW - Steve Martin's stand-up was awful. I never got him. Some movies were instant classics, however. The Jerk, Roxanne, LA Story. All faves, thanks to his wonderful comedic performances.

  • ??? I am getting sick and tired of seeing you guys advertise a person who is obviously not going to even get anywhere in the polls. Just shut up and least keep things relevant...

  • Yeah, you suck !

  • Polls are great. DEWEY DEFEATS TRUMAN

  • both seem to be very thoughtful--perhaps that they're looking at life in past tense

  • Great stuff. In the interview Steve Martin seemed so soft spoken.

  • LOVE Charlie!!!

  • I watched this. I've been a fan of Martin's for years. I was in love with him when I was in high school and he appeared on SNL alot. He never knew about the love thing. lols

    5 stars for Steve !

  • Charlie rose. Best interviewer ever. (even that French guy) :p
