I have the song by the Louisiana Five and a short chorus by Billy Murray on a Columbia from 1919. This is excellent, but the recorded version is at a faster tempo. Nevertheless, 6/5!!!!
Fantastic performance! You picked a GREAT tempo for this one!!!
certain parts, such as from 2:28 to 2:34, have obviously had extra notes added by the editor (notice how the melody is played in THREE OCTAVES at once, while the regular low bass continues in the left hand!).
However, having heard audio recordings of Robinson actually playing (as well as Clarence Jones, who had a similar style) I have no doubt that he could definitely have played all the rest himself.
Yeah, they don't write 'em like they used to, thats for sure! The rebuild was an intensive process, but luckily as this was my first restoration, I found a knowledgable friend to help me out & provide a watchful eye over every step of the way. One thing we are not satisfied yet, the pumping unit/reservior.. I only get around 10-15 seconds of suction, whereas 30-45 is more common with Aeolian units. We are planning on rebuilding this portion very soon with higher quality bellows cloth!
Rebuilt the pump and it gets 35 seconds :D I'm happy as a clam and it makes pumping a bit more leisurely! Now I just need the time to post a few more vids lol.

Nice piece of music, and the piano sounds so good and plays so well.

@AAErikCO Good job! I would be interested in knowing what cloth you used and where you got it. Thanks JIM
