  • those chicks are doing the jerk hah

  • Some are wondering where are the men!Let me help you out.In this particular region region of senegal Tambacounda, Casamance , guinée bisseau(Gabou) and Gambia, the Mandinka men prefer listening to Kora(string) , than dancing to Djembe in wedings or naming ceremonies.Men do dance but its most of time for Jambadong, or jomboyo, thats the initiation of manhood.Mostly in weding men do the legal rituals and women and young people do the party.ITS ALL ABOUT ETHICS

  • LA ALEGRIA DEL PUEBLO AFRICANO ES INCOMPARABLE :)

  • Go to a Pentecostal church and you see African American women dance like this too....when the music is pumping...

  • OLEEEEEEEEEEEE !

  • vive la espanol !

  • culture Linda

  • Sincere respects for the african culture!beautiful dances and djembe music.Gives me thrills when I see that some nations never lost their customs.

  • fun fun fun! .... thx for posting!!

  • this looks so fun <3

  • senegal and other african countries looks very nice, people there still didnt lose their smile, their vivacity, and they still know how to enjoy life... people are always together, what a great thing. I currently live in Australia and here everything is so gloomy, people look so lonely and sad, even tho they all have a lot of money, cars, and so on..

    ahh well!

  • @wakold You are so right! People in places like these still know what life is about. They haven't lost their orientation like the socalled developed.

  • this is an amazing video. thanks for sharing!

  • beautiful i enjoyed this dance and drums

  • what are those things coming off the top of the skinny man's Djembe?

  • its small rings that make the tamborine noise, or how should you explain it :D theyre like small bells, cymbals...wtvr :P

  • Baby at 2:36.

  • video owner/uploader you need to block hazarianl154

  • LOVE IT ^^

  • The dancing looks more like from the Gambia with the hands and the feet. When the senegalese performs sabar, they usually kick their feet in the air with their hands, and they jump sometimes as well... if you understand what I mean... it is kind of hard to explain it.

  • i dont think its segenal, the song is from ivory coast.

  • This is a wedding not an organized "Sabar", made specificly for sabar dancing, Sabar dancing has become an event in and of itself at least nowadays.

  • This isn't sabar, it's djembe. this dance originates from a Mali tribe, it's not traditionally Senegalese, and anyhow we have remember that Africa is really tribal, it' the Europeans that came over and split the land into their own territories.

  • @cdcsamira You are talking about Wolod Sabar dance. This is happening in Southern Senegal , TAMBACOUNDA, and 75% OF the people IN THIS PARTICULAR REGION OF SENEGAL are mandinka , malinké,and bambara, same people as the mandinka in the gambia , and also a part of Guiné beasseau and Conakry.Thats why they share the same intruments, Djembe ,Kora etc .Remember its not about nations , but its all about ethnic groups. If you know west africa , then you know what i mean!

  • @WitnessTheDevine Cool Bro. Thanks for the information. It is amazing how tribes travel across nations.

  • Uauuu :)

    100% Africa!

    Love It

  • their sick man nuff respect

  • I think it's ineresting that the rhythm and tempo seem to be determined by the dancer. I'm sure each player has an idea in mind of what type of person each dancer is, and they contour their playing to try to match it (while challenging the dancer). If you just heard a recording, it really wouldn't make as much sense.

  • midesti,

The tempo of the music is determined by the player,if you noticed, it goes from slow to fast,it is not meant for out of shape people there are no fatty's,and no one what hart problem. You have to be an African to dance to it.There is no-booty shaking. That is music and dancing that comes dexterity.

  • great dancers, great fun, i love those mamas enjoying themselves with so much energy.

i just wonder: a wedding without men? where are they? what are they doing while the women are having fun? they can't dance? they're not allowed in? a mystery to me....

  • @wolf1951: Generally in Muslim weddings, men and women guests would remain segregated. This area would officially be off-limits to the guys (except of course the drummers :D). The men would at that particular time be engaging in somber prayers and looooooooong guilt-inducing lectures by local Islamic clerics, while the ladies would waste no time in having fun.

  • thank you for your explanations!

but i still wonder: men and women will not dance together? they do it everywhere in westafrica, or is it just because of the wedding?

    greetings from hamburg

    yours wolfgang

and it's always fun to watch the dancers have so much fun dancing while the drummers have fun drumming

  • I love watching the connection between dancers and drummers.

  • lol so cool! i was expecting just purely ceremonial traditional drumming, then at the 30 mark they broke into jazz rythyms! (or is it jazz using djembe rythym?=P) nice vid!

  • awesome, loved it x

  • dude...awesome....i love djembes...
