I never managed to reach "space" using the keyboard, but back in the day we played this with a joystick, that worked every time.

I was owning my friend once then she mashed some buttons and her skier jumped super high off the aerial, so high you couldn't see the ground, giving her time to do a crazy number of tricks

It's sooo funny when you try to do great and it gets stuck and he like flies in mid-air and their is no control...lol
