Whats awesome about Re4 is that it is RELENTLESS. The game just wants you dead, and wil ldo anything to do it. Terrible mantis men, electric acid bugs, FIRE BREATHING DEMON DRAGON STATUES. The game is awesome, because no matter how hard you try, the second you start the game, you are a wanted man.

5 at least did things that actually mattered and took things seriously. 4 was just embarrassing, turned Leon into an ass, and had a story that had NOTHING to do with ANYTHING else in the entire series. Added to that 4's the game that changed the genre of the main games.

@edward18517 i'm pretty sure that wasn't there intention at first to change the genre. 4 was a nice little break away from fighting generic brainless zombies, a sort of sidequest that can still work with the story but no Crapcom was like "omg 4 is so overwhelmingly badass why not live up to its hype and rehash the same shit to the fans again". I say 4 was better because it was original, the whole plagas thing should have died when Leon killed Saddler.

Then there was no reason at all for 4 to be called 4. It isn't a main game with how irrelevant it was.

And it didn't need to do what it did to not have zombies in it. Zombies have never been needed for Resident Evil. But all the viral agents in each game aside from 4 at least connected together.

As for rehashing, EVERY game after the first was was a rehash until 4. Didn't make them any worse than the first game.
