I'll bet Dan Tyminski's guitar mike is not even turned on !!!! Dan's a great guitarist but with Tony Rice playing who needs another guitar. If I were Dan,...I'd say leave my mike turned off and let Tony Shine !!!!! Great Music ! Tony is the best.
Why would you say something like that. Dan is a world class guitar player. To say that his mike isn't even turned on is insulting. Dan's only problem is that he is too humble. He is more apt to stand back and let other people take the spot light when he could just as easily do so himself.
I agree. Dan has one of the cleanest lead guitar styles in blugrass. I think Tony is more jazz than bluegrass, so in my opinion Dan is the best of the two
I'm a huge fan of Tony, who is one of the biggest reasons for me being attracted to this music in the first place, but something is not right in later years. His fantastic tone and signature licks has taken the upper hand over the improvisation and I find that he seems to have some problems "riding the wave". Might be all the iconic pressure. For me, his playing on "The New South" was great, but when you go more towards playing licks rather than the song...i don't know.
I used to think that Doc Watson was sort of the early, but certainly not as good as, predecessor to Tony. Now I am more and more discovering his flow and his way to always play true.
The thing about Dan is that everything he does is solid as a rock.
Great to hear TONY play some of his earlier stuff the way he played it when he was younger-smooth as silk. This is a great band-are they playing any other gigs. jonlari
And that's why these guys make the 'Big Bucks' .. nicely done!

Well, lead work yeah, but I don't really like Tony's rhythm. He trys to do to many fills and he has since his days with JD.
Dan is a monster rhythm player, but Tony is a better leader. So it all works, I guess.

I have heard that Tony Rice will tour with Allison Krause & Union Station, which is who most of these guys play for now, in 2007.

I think Jerry played on the cut Ricky Skaggs had on the album "Comin' Home To Stay". Jerry is the best dobro player around!
