That barracuda is nowhere close to 38kg, the All-Tackle world record for Great barracuda is 38.5kg and is a tie between two fish, one caught in Kiribati and the other in the Phillipines. (85pounds if I am correct) that fish weighed maybe 50 pounds at the most, the head is big, but the body is too narrrow and there is not enough girth to be anywhere near 85 pounds...

It's more than 50lb. I can hold a 50lb fish with one hand (with dificulties) , but I know when I need two hands is more than 60lb. Believe me, I needed the two hands to hold this fish. I don't discuss if it's 38kg or it's 35kg, I only know it's more than 30kg. If you have fished >50lb fishes, you undestand me.

Barracuda is actually a very very tasty fish, I heard cutting the back of the head and letting the blood drain after u reel him in reduces the chance of ciguatera poisoning...so far I havent gotten sick, but even so I always keep that in mind, and I only eat them b/c my friends who catch them do, if it were up to me I would let them go cuz theyre so majestic.

A Barracuda that big is NOT going to be tasty at all . Large Barracuda like that have very nasty meat. Draining them or not, youre still going to have a very irony and fishy tasting meat. Not to mention the massive amount of bacteria in the large ones. The usual rule of thumb for Barracuda's is toss anything back thats over 3 foot or its just a bad eating fish. I personally never keep them, way better fish out there to eat.

No, dont get me wrong, small barracuda is tasty and good for eatting. But those real big guys, like in this video, tend to have very irony tasting meat. Ive had small barracuda that was so delicious you couldnt eat eat slow enough, then Ive had someone who cooks a huge one and the meat was some bad tasting I coulnt even swallow.

I agree. We don't have barracudas in the Mediterranean so I cannot tell you because we don't have it in our diet. But it happens in other speaces. One thing is BIG and another is OLD. I think this cuda is old. OLD trouts, old marlins, old lemonfish are not as good as young or big ones. All we now every fish have a perfect age (size) to be eaten.
