  • but canada would still be in the british empire, strange but if catherine of aragon and henry viii sons had survived in 1516 spain would become part of uk, so spain would be english and the americas would be a funny mixter of english and french and portuguese, but in the america's mexico usa and south america except from brazil would be 100% english, but canada would still be french and english, and brazil would be portuguese,

  • And if catherine of aragon and henry 8 sons had survived, and in 1516 spain became part of the uk, and south america and mexico would be speaking english instead of spanish and the usa would be english with out any spanish speaking areas and in 1776 there would still be american revolution but no 7 year war , and in the american revolution the american's would win it easy because mexico and south america would side with them and then also break away from the british empire, continue ,

  • If catherine of aragon and henry 8 sons had survived, by 1516 spain would be part of the uk,and that mean's south armerica and mexico would be speaking english instead of spanish and the usa would be 100% english without any spanish speaking areas but brazil would still be portuguese anyway and canada would still be english and french anyway, no elizabeth and no spanish armada in 1588, and no 7 year war with france in 1700s and england would be powerfulest empire in the 16 centray up to today.>

  • Catherine of Aragon was one of the greatest and powerfulest women in history,

she even had more power than her sister joanna the mad, henry viii was better of with the Catherine of Aragon and there sons should of survived.

  • @8:29, Mitchell looks like the Michelin Man in that costume.

  • lol terrible spanish

  • If Catherine of aragon and henry VIII sons had survived, by 1516 spain would become part of the uk, and that mean's south america and mexico would be speaking english and the usa would be english without any spanish speaking areas and canada would still be english and french and brazil would still be portuguese anyway, a catholic england, and Elizabeth 1 would not exist and no spanish armada, and england would have been the world powerfulest empire in the 16 century and still this very day.

  • katherine of aragon was a victim of a thing called karma she had to pay for the crimes of her parents as it says in the bible the sins of the fathers are visited upon the children

  • Anne Bolyen and Jane Seymour use to be henry viii and catherine of aragon ladies in waiting.

  • Catherine of aragon is my favourite wife out all 6 wifes ,

catherine and henry viii should have not lost those three sons they should have

survived and lived, I think henry viii was better of with catherine of aragon.

  • he was the best henry... and charlton heston came close.

interesting keith carries the part off ... as a young man and the older monstrous despotic

    henry.

  • 07:09 LMAO!!!!!!! did anyone NOT laugh when she started to get hysterical? me and my mom were watching this after renting it from netflix and after henry tells her the marriage isnt holy she goes NUTS but in the most hysterical way!! LOL IT WAS SO FUNNY!! shes like AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHH HAAAAAHHH, *BREATHES* AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHAAAAAAAAAAHHHHAAAAAAAAA! talk about over the top!

  • @burtonrules123 You and your mother are pair of sad ignorants, that particular scene won her a BAFTA award. Maybe you should stick to something more fitted to your intellect like Fast and Furious or Hard to Die.

  • @burtonrules123 Seriously, is one thing to be an ignorant and another to show it off. That scene won her a BAFTA award, go watch fast and furious if you don't have enough intellect to appreciate a master piece performance.

  • @mcmlxvi yep, your an idiot.

  • Any chance you could ul the whole episode?

  • I saw this production when it first came on back in the 70's on PBS its by far the best telling of Henry viii and his wives. Keith Mitchell was brilliant and won an Emmy for the part. Another brilliant production is Elizabeth R with Glenda Jackson. Henry was married to Catherine for close to 24 yrs. and she endured not only losing children but had to deal with his infidelities and two illigitimate children who he flaunted in his court. Through it all she maintained her dignity.

  • @raydio60 Henry the VIII was a complete mother fucking retard, it is believed today that the reason why most of his offspring were stillborns is because due to his promiscuity he suffered from syphilis for most of his life. The simple fact that 6 perfectly healthy women weren't able to bare him a child did not hint him that it was his fault and not hers.

  • Annette Crosbie portrays Catherine wonderfully, however, they could have had a younger woman portray the Queen in her earlier years. Crosbie was in her mid-thirties when she appeared in this episode, and the opening scene in which she is introduced to Prince Arthur (the actor portraying him was clearly a teenager) is a bit off key. Crosbie looks old enough to be his mother, and all the make up in the world could not hide that fact.

  • the david starkey documentary of the same name is well worth watching andtells the real story. is this a film?

  • Did they only have one take to do this? I ask because the boom mike just suddenly appears at 7:11 I mean how could anyone miss that? Did they just go "damn we got no more film...screw it, print it."

  • @GeraldLassaline Haha, I didn't even notice until I read your comment!

  • Dear Bullen, I am certainly grateful for the time and effort your took to upload these wonderful videos. May I ask why they are so heavily edited? Would you consider loading them unedited? Thank you!!

  • what did the fruitcake grab? his matching backpack to go with that absurd outfit? near the last minute

  • I saw this serie in 1998, in the People+Arts, and I never forget it. It`s a gift to see this again ! Congratulations.

  • Keith Mitchell was magnificient as Henry!

  • i don't know... she still doesn't quite germane into the shoes of katherine of Aragon rather this actress reminds of lady margaret pole for some random reason. That's just my opinion maybe because i haven't really seen this episode (i am from india BBC is not so avid in showing us television shows based upon british history... ironically )

  • Just a observation- boy these women of Henry's seem to be somewhat flat-chested.

  • THE FIRST FEW MINUTES OF ME WATCHING the show the tudors.. i have been reading and watching every thing i can find... i am hooked ... on the history, and when i read or watch anything about catherine, i can't imagine the awful ending of a very loved queen and how she must have been so broken hearted, but she kept her faith... where can i find this docu/story you have here. connie

  • long live Queen Catherine of Aragon

  • A marvellous performance. I hadn't seen it before. She looks like Katherine and, while we have no way of knowing, this is may well be the way Katherine acted. It is historically accurate. A terrible tragedy. Henry fell in love with Anne Boleyn and left his wife. It wasn't anyone's fault. We are all the victims of our emotions.

  • yuck!

  • he was so sweet back then! ugh what happened??

  • I wish Arthur had never died.

  • @evaperonfan me 2

  • Henry never should have divorced Catherine. SHe was the best of his wives.

  • im trying to make a political cartoon about this. n e ideas?

  • what's the name of the song being played at the very begging with the picture of Catherine and the actress is shown?

  • Henry the 8th really loved her at first.

  • IMO this series was the most realistic portrayal of the Tudors, on film. I loved Annette Crosbie and especially Dorothy Tutin.

  • Anne of Cleves was not killed by Henry. She was divorced from him, given a generous settlement, and was from then on called the King's Beloved Sister, and revered above all women save the Queen and the King's own daughters. Henry and Anne became quite good friends after the divorce.

  • I have to laugh reading that! Did you ever see the old movie w/Charles Loughton and Elsa Lanchester in a story about Henry 8? It had some parts that were really funny!

In that one, Henry the 8th (CL) goes to see AofC (Elsa L.) to settle terms of the divorce. In a very funny scene, they began to play a friendly game of cards. They sit there and haggle over the divorce terms while they're playing and she makes out like a bandit!

  • Catherine of Aragon has to be one of the most tragic figures in history. Poor lady.

  • I think Catherine Parr had a worse fate-- she survived Henry only to die in childbirth.

  • @citybeat60 - She was one of the greatest women in history - even Cromwell her arch enemy said that " nature played her false for had she been born a man she was strong enough to put all the heroes of history to shame" Henry feared her ability to weild power for herself and Mary , she was truly her mother isabella's daughter.

  • Hi, is it possible for you to upload the entire Katherine of Aragon segment from 'The Six Wives of Henry VIII'?

  • in case you haven't found it yet summerofmysmile posted all 6 episodes & the Elizabeth R series

  • Thanks for the tip!

  • It made me soooo happy that I found both series on the site. They also have Henry VIII and his Six Wives (Again staring Keith Mitchell as Henry VIII) on the site. Excellent movie!

  • Littlemissboleyn AKA littlemisssunnydale posted Henry VIII & his 6 wives as well, summerofmysmile has a lot of great stuff, right now I'm watching the Edward VII series, staring the same actress who plays Katherine, Annette Crosbie she plays Queen Victoria It's pretty good so far.

  • I'll have to check it out. I'm glad to be able to watch some really good British drama!

  • @justlooking213 do you know where I can find the prequel to this?

  • Sorry I didn't know there was one, but Zeusbark posted I Claudius, that was really good.

  • I'm sure glad I didn't live back in those days...the sheer injustice and sexism!

  • this is the worst thing ever to happen to a woman... a husband to say that their marriage was based on a lie... then, don't marry in the first place...

  • Henry VIII was a rat bastard!

  • Comment removed

  • i have downloaded this episode and now i was wondering, i have read that Catherine always conducts herself very well even in the most worse of circumstances...in the scene that henry VIII told her that their marriage is unlawful and that they have to separate, she suddenly gave this really awful wail! not the catherine i have read about...can someone clarify if she has indeed had bouts of wailing and screaming? thanks :)

  • In that moment, yes, she lost her usual self control and wept.

  • thanks for clearing that up... :)

  • Of all the things Henry the VIII did in his life, the one I hate him most for is he made sure Catherine NEVER saw her daughter Mary again ! That is pure evil ! 6 YEARS of her life without her child. What a Monster !!!!

  • I think what he did to Catherine Howard was worse. She wasn't even 20 and he killed her!

  • True ! But if you remember that Catherine Howard was only 15/16 and Henry was over 50 when they married !, he probably did her a favour, but at that age she was sleeping with men twice her age anyway ! Yuck !

  • well, it wasn't uncommon back then. But the men she was sleeping with were men she at least LOVED!

  • Catherine Howard knew what she was getting into. He's the king with a reputation of killing his second wife for false charges on adultery and yet she goes and sleeps with other men anyway?? yes she was young, but at that age she must have been a twat for undermining the ruthlessness and empathy of henry.

  • but she didn't deserve to die!

  • well so didn't Anne Bolyne and all the other subjects and advisors of Henry who were decapitated of their heads for the littlest things dat upset the king. Henry was a merciless bastard and Catherine should have known better to be sleeping around whether in love or not, espeacially in those times where punishment of death was lauded and highly acceptable for any 'treason" (aka actions against the king). Catherine, though she didnt deserve to die, practically brang it upon herself.

  • I always felt very sorry for her. Who wouldn't but more so I admire her for fighting against the world when Anne Boleyn came along. She was the best Queen of Henry's rein, he didn't deserve any of them.

  • I feel sorry for the first 5 of his wives!

  • yes, you are right, she was a great fighter. The real queen. The daugther of great kings. Proud, strong and worthy woman

  • I find it kind of funny she speaks Spanish with an English accnet, but Englsh with a Spansih accent, and in the second episode she suddenly looses any trace of a Spanish lilt, however her acting was amazing and the colouring correct, although she looks too old to play the young catherine

  • excellent video. what's the name of the piece used in the opening?

  • Catherine of Aragon was a brillant woman though troubles came upon her she still stood strong. That's why she was the true queen of england

  • yes, you are right. She was the only true queen to Henry VIII.

  • Well Jane Seymour and Catherine Parr were true to him. Anne of Cleves would've been, but never had a chance. Because he divorced after the wedding, she never had a chance to be queen, either true or untrue!

  • As always, well done Bullen1. However I missed your well written narrations. But her acting touched me to my soul. Your country is blessed with such a beautiful acting tradition.

  • We did a medievil banquet in middle school, and I got Catherine of Aragon. She was a very fascinating character to learn about, and portray.

  • Annette Crosbie is one of my favorite Katharines her acting is wonderful and she looks so muck like the queen she could be queen Katharine reincarnated.

  • She was pretty amazing wasnt she? Loved her portrayal and she told Katherines story really well. Cheers for watching x

  • @TudorRose85

Agreed, for once a redhead, as you have stated like the true Katherine.

  • Keith Mitchell ages amazingly through the series- he always looks the proper age, and just like the paintings of Henry VIII

  • Your info is wrong. Henry didn't marry Catherine right after his death. It was seven years later in fact.

  • This is actually a BBC production from the 1970's, but thanks for your comment

  • What difference does it make when this production was made? I am commenting that the information in your video description is inaccurate.

  • I think you have miss read it. I have written that Catherine married Arthur in 1501, and that he died shortly after. She then married Henry shortly after the death of Henry VII in 1509. I hope that makes things a bit clearer for you, and thanks again for the comment!

  • Yup, I'm a goof. I did read it wrong. Sorry about that. Take Care.

  • I think you could be right! She had to wait until Henry was old enough to marry, and to rule in his own right as king; which I believe in those days was 18 (maybe it still is, I don't know).

He was 6 years younger, so it made her 24 by that time. So yeah, I guess it was about 7 or 8 years! I do know that there were other issues; there was something about her dowry, I believe.

But I had no idea that that there was some conniving going on with her sister Juana! Was that Juana "the mad"?

  • Good point, but Henry VII mad it so that the mariage would not happen in his lifetime

  • @loveoldsongs Yes the people called her "Juana la loca" Juana the mad.

  • @AmazingAesa

that was her sister was called that, she is Cathrine her sister in Joanna of Castile.

    xxx

  • @ericalouise2008

I know it was her sister.. I was referring to Juana, not Catherine.

  • yes it was juana the mad

  • Bravo! WEll done.

  • crosbie is a very good catherine

  • Katherine was a strong woman, cold and calculate but very strong in many ways ahead of her times. It is so bad that she and anne were in the wrong place and time, and that they turned bitter enemies in the end.

  • i love this one. this is the only film ive seen with catherine having red hair live ive read about in all the books

  • poor, poor girl and woman! all that humilitation ... and then her babies! poor babies! and the divorce and everything ... she is more tragic for me than Anne or Catherine Howard, they were somehow responsible for their own downfall , but catherine never was

  • thanks so much for uploading this! I've not seen it for years! thanks again :D

  • "It is also one of the only performances to show Catherine with her correct colourings" Its like the other film makers never picked up a history book or they just went with the Spanish Stereotype

  • justlooking213

there is one more production ive seen with the correct colouring, she was portrayed by Frances Cuka, who looks very much like Catherine

  • Littlemissboleyn AKA littlemissunnydale was kind enough to post that movie on her channel

  • Queen Catherine = THE QUEEN OF HEARTS

  • I agree

  • She truly is,much like Diana!

  • can you explain please?

  • AndromedaMariaCarmen - Explain what?

  • how she reminds you of Diana. I don't know much about Diana, so I'd love to learn.

  • can you post the whole movie?

  • serious copyright issues...don't want to push it too far....unfortunately. =[
