  • Just download SharpEnviro windows shell. Works for Windows XP, Vista and 7 and functions better. Can be customized to your heart's content. No flashy gimmicks like circle dock or macdock.

  • Do you even know where you are talking about?

Mac OS X is even more copying their older versions.

Only some color schemes have been changed.

Windows did way more over the editions.

  • Did you honestly think It would look exactly like vista? You really SHouldn't believe everything you see on wikipeidea.

  • ok I left of at auto hiding the task bar then I installed circle dock and it has all of the necessities.

  • The people who say vista is slow probably don't have a computer that can run vista. For example my PC has 8 gigs of ram and four processors and vista works fine. My brother computer has 2 gigs of ram and a dual core processor and has problems. Well, to me UI is a different story. Before I had vista I had Xp. I had millions of apps that look just like this from deviant art. With vista I auto hide the task read next comment youtube is to cheap to allow my character count over 500!

  • not everybody has 8 gigs of ram and a quad core o-o

aero is shit and takes alot of resources , typical ms software

  • indeed. RAM is expensive

  • The Alpha builds of Win 7 did indeed look like Vista. Windows 7 is based off the Vista. You can see various Alpha build which look like Vista and heck, the first time 7 was officially released - it still featured the Vista taskbar.

    Whos the noob now?

  • this video was made more then a year ago,so things were bound to change. and why do you call it "se7en"?

  • WOHOO. GO WoW!!!

  • I will still be using XP, even when it gets crowned the "new windows 95 of our time." I don't care how outdated it becomes..

  • all a load of crap and windows always will be...... playing catch up.

  • not true. apple started the 'home pc' generation. but the windows came out and overtook apple. then loads of ppl decided to move over to microsoft and then apple where trying to beta microsoft. apple where behind for ages. while microsoft was still getting beta, apple where trying to catch up. now apple has over taken microsoft because they have recently stept up to the game.cheak out this vid and plz just watch the whol lot watch?v=6rtHDAPbkeQ and then this one watch?v=ldk7OR3nnAE

  • Already on the Windows 7 feedback forum there's a huge thread complaining about the new taskbar (some love some hate) and a few outcries for the return of the classic start menu (akin to Windows 95).

  • As for your video, there are a lot of great concepts for user interfaces created by the various visual style communities. I think Microsoft knows, however, that people do complain about change. With various applications (you already know about them) you can make Windows look gorgeous, but for a default installation, it's very important to keep things the same or as similar as possible. I'm shocked at how much people cried out when Microsoft does something as little as rearranges Control Panel.

  • It's pronounced "OS Ten." Vista search for documents is terrible, but Start Search for the start menu alone is a godsend.

  • I said "O S EX" by mistake. thank you for repeating that for like the fifth time. Start Search is more accurate but Vista search has a better idea. Put the two together and you have what Apple's had since 2005 called "spotlight" which is built into Finder.

  • Noone else here corrected you on OS X's pronunciation. I didn't mean to tell you what you already knew, but I didn't think I'd be the 5th person to tell you.

  • OH SEX!

  • Windows7 doesn't look the same as Vista, perhaps a little similar, but the UI and quick-access features are improved nicely. Seriously, I recommend that you download the free open beta and try it yourself, rather than listening to what other people say. The new features are great.

It's still in beta though, so expect a couple of small issues, etc. But it's a nice indication of where Windows is headed.

  • and brotip: That pic you have at the start isn't of Windows 7, lol. Look a little harder for screenshots of next time. ;)

My personal preference is for the windows desktop, for the further customization that is possible, and the range of customization utilities. Samuraize, Rainmeter & Rainlendar, etc.

Before someone says I'm a biased Windows user, I grew up using Macs more than PCs, thanks to school networks, and recently I've booted Linux distros on a couple of my computers.

  • Im going to try and get the Windows 7 beta tonight. Ill run it in VM Ware Fusion in the morning and test it out for a few hours. That pic I had of Windows 7 was actually the first screenshot ever of Windows 7. Everyone was making videos saying that it looked like Vista. They probably had stuff under the hood that we couldnt see and changed the UI last. Which is great. I had Linux for a little while after my PC crashed last year. But it was too complex for me. I didnt know how to install a thing.

  • Which distro did you try?

    Ubuntu is ideal for beginners.

If you can, don't do a virtual install, just use a HD parition to dual-boot or something.

I must admit, I'm impressed with win7 so far, after questioning the movement towards ZOMG GRAPHICS. :3 People just need to remember that it's a Beta, so it will have a few bugs.

  • It was Ubuntu. I and I thought it was going to be incredibly simple. I like the Linux that's put on netbooks because I can see how normal people would love the incredible ease of use and not have to worry about viruses. I just didn't like the programs for Linux either. My Macs programs like iMovie are great and I haven't seen anything that compares. What is funny though is that all those open source programs that I used on Linux were the same ones I used on Windows. Firefox, VLC, etc.

  • that wheel thing has been announced from microsoft, BUT it was meant to be in vista but it got taken out so im not sure whats happening but thats where they get the wheel thing from

  • I'm not saying your wrong but can you send me a link because I looked that up and couldn't find that anywhere.

  • ummm, windows vista trial, they had it there

  • I love windows to death but im going mac till they pull there head out there asses

  • ok to the OP of the video.

Windows vista is not XP with a new interface all the pluming under windows vista is brand new the stuff that runs windows is brand new all the old pluming from windows 95 to 2003 was changed. a whole new archtctual changes have been been under the hood of vista new display driver model new graphics sub system new network stack graphics stack new audio stack the works everything so everything ya see in vista underneath is running on new PIPES

  • vista is not xp with a better interface.

  • how is it not. The only new "innovations' are ones that MS stole from Apple. and beside the new UI, there is nothing. And why the hell are they pouring all their money into ads when they should be using it fix the OS. It's the tech reviewers they should be trying to convince because people listen to them.

  • apple marketing at it's best. you guys are sheep. apple commercials are junk. all they do is attack the competition and just say "we're better" while not explaining why.

  • We're not sheep, we're people who are smart and can see a better OS that's right in front of us. Actually, if you look at their commercials, Apple has always explained why they're better. Spyware, viruses, switching, networking, iLife, etc.

  • vista is not xp with a different interface. If it was then why would people be complaining about it? and what about program compatibility. Also If it was as solid as xp why would apple be making ads saying that it's bad? The never did it for xp

  • I'm saying it's the same because it has no new innovations beside the new UI. XP isn't solid either. Both have waaaay too many security flaws.

  • For example? Oh wait, it is impossible to download those 100s of anti-viruses available. Isn't it?

  • He forgot to say that MS was the first to use GUI, and apple don't develop anything, just get the BSD and create themes. The most important question is: What MAC can do which windows can't, and vice versa ?!

    can you answer?

  • As I recall, the Apple II was the first OS with a GUI. DOS, which came out 4 years after the Apple II didn't even have a GUI. Not till 1985 did Windows actually have a GUI. Send me a link to show me that BSD created the GUI for the Apple II. Macs can do anything PCs can do like run Windows. But PCs can't run OS X which means that can't run Final Cut Studio or the special things that OS X can do such as True SMP. The only thing Macs can't do is get viruses, spyware, adware, or malware.

  • word. i'm with vls1dragon.

  • its mac os "ten" not "x"

  • x is 10 in roman numerals

  • Mm, pie menus. That's what those wheels are called. Apparently, studies have shown that users tend to work with them faster than standard drop-down menu lists.

I think user customisation is the way forward. The current Windows situation, with all those custom docks and themes out there, is on the right track. To go further: be able to completely replace the Start menu, the notification area, etc. 3D rotating windows are fine for some. I'm currently infatuated with keystroke launching. Launchy :)

  • (continued from previous post)...Therefore have fun being a spokesperson for Steve Jobs cuz you're nothing but a follower like sheep following their master!

  • This is for your Instinct vs IPhone "review"

and I use the word "review" here very lightly.

It's pretty obvious that you're just another Apple lemming with no independent thought process of your own and you should not be "reviewing" other people's products if you do not have the maturity of providing UNBIASED facts about another product inorder to provide a fair comparison. Unfortunately it does not look like you have reached that stage in your life in order to do so...

  • OBVIOUS*

  • HEY THIS IS A COMMENT FOR THE INSTINCT VS IPHONE .... FUCK YOU.... how can you compare two things when you only know the basic facts about one

YOU SON OF A BITCH your fucken video was biased and you know it. it was obviously that you were lacking facts about the instinct you DUMBASS MOTHERFUCKER
