Misinterpreted...or perhaps just injected my own spin. At coffee houses, my most commonly played original is written from the perspective of someone bemoaning the fact that the object of his affections wandered away from him to "go further than he wishes to go" "with some boy she does not even know," and that he'd like to know who decided, years ago, acts of affection he craves (such as cheek-kisses) do not "count." None of this takes away from the fact that you're musically talented...

Hmm...these lyrics appear to be about the loss of innocence. When the characters were younger, a kiss on the cheek meant "I really love you" and was so exciting and welcomed, but later when the characters are more interested in sex, the kiss on the cheek is (unfairly, in my opinion) treated as unimportant or, worse, as a gesture meaning "I think of you only as a friend." The trick, then, is to revive the cheek-kiss as something exciting and meaningful, rather than to minimize it.
