1 more thing, Garrus wanted to shoot down Dr. Hart's vessel on the citadel, while hostages were on board. If that isn't a renegade, idk what the hell is. Mercy is not the Garrus way.
For all the people who feel bad that were worried that saving sidonis would ruin the loyalty. Don't be sad you let Garrus kill Sidonis, its a lot better than having Garrus become a whiny bitch. Mass 1 garrus confesses that saren needs to die absolutely do not let it go to court, killing dr. hart, no trial, garrus is the executioner, (mass 1 again for our ps3 friends) the turian is a RENEGADE not a paragon, saving sidonis for garrus is changing him. (unlike what femshep here was saying)
Awwwe man, this is the only time I didn't do something good, I didn't even bother to warn him cause I thought I would lose Garrus' loyalty. Fuck it, gives me a new reason to start a new game before ME3 :P
Sure. In real life, most people would do the same as Sidonis, try to save themselves. But that doesn't make it right. You make a choice, you face the consequences. End of story
After the talk with Sidonnis I let him live just because he has extreme survivors guilt. Person like that is pretty much a walking corpse unless they get some help.
Listen to the Citadel News Net with Emily Wang and you'll hear that Sidonis came to C-Sec and told 'em about his crime. As I remember, he was arrested.
hardest decision i made in ME2. I wanted my female Shepard to sorta change Garrus' life since i planned to pursue romance with him, but at the same time, i wanted that guy dead. In the end i let Sidonis go... and the dialogue afterwards was sorta rewarding.
Wow look this video has all good 102 views and no dislikes. Oh well I guess I will have to break the record and vote this video down just to be a scum bag.
@CashFlow4595 *too. And frankly, the fact that you need to mock me about feeling strongly about something- even something in a game- says more about /you/ then me.
@CashFlow4595 And if you choose to reply, perhaps you can summon up the brain cells to /reply to my comment/. I knew you have few enough to spare, but you can do it. I believe in you.
@Vincentiusify Yes, because being merciful is 'being a pussy'. In NO way is the paragon option any less 'bad ass' then the renegade one...it's often just so in a different way. A way, that is, anyone with more intelligence and depth then /you/ can comprehend. Paragon is actually, in fact, often the /harder/ choice, resulting in needing /more/ balls to deal with then the renegade option, which bullies their way through everything. And it also makes for a more challenging game
@Vincentiusify for the /player/, and very often /far/ more rewarding pay-off. And in the end, with all the connections and allies paragon Shep can make by NOT being a renegade me-first bully actually gives MORE leverage and leeway to tell anyone you want to fuck off, Alliance, Cerberus, or other. I did this BOTH ways, and letting Garrus shoot Sidonis felt so /wrong/. You're not solving anything, you're not making anything better, you're not even /punishing anyone/. You're getting
@Vincentiusify a few minutes of feel-good shallow 'revenge' and a 'take that' that /isn't even badass/. There is NOTHING badass about letting Garrus shoot him. Nothing. You're pegging off an unarmed, frightened, lied to, husk of a person who doesn't even get the chance to defend himself. Bravo, bad ass, would you like to go punch babies now, really confirm that 'manly' image? Taking the other option- the /harder/, more /dangerous/ option- gets a /proper/ vengeance.
@Vincentiusify Sidonis gets taken into custody. Granted, who knows what will happen to him, but better then turning into him. Which is essentially what you're doing by letting Garrus take the shot...if you pursue all dialogue options, you quickly realize just how bad it is for Garrus to let him get revenge this way. Game makes it /really/ obvious. So you just go ahead with your 'bad ass' renegade Shep, and I'll continue with my 'pussy' paragon, and in the end, we'll see who actually is
It just seems this would give Garrus even more emotional turmoil which would just further distract him from the final mission, better just let him plug one backstabbing Turian and get the relief of revenge, Everyone wins?
I had to watch this to see what happens before I did this, and I think I'll be continue letting him shoot Sidonis until I decide to make a female character, cuz Male Shepard and Garrus are bros so doing this as a guy would seem...weird...
@X9TerrorfireX9 I felt that way too for some reason. In the renegade path (which I do for this mission) it is just "lets kill this bastard and get back to saving the galaxy" followed by an epic brofist! lol
Anyone else get a vibe from this that there's going to be a big betrayal in ME3? The way that line is said at :33 just really makes me think that this is foreshadowing. Plus, Garrus is very much ME2's Ashley (Both are the sarcastic pessimistic jokers with possibly the most baggage of your team, which is saying a lot), and Ashley foreshadowed Shepherd's death by quoting from a poem that Shepherd mentions the Captain died in. So, if Bioware keeps that...
i warned him and said dont move then i said i just wanted to let u know...im with garrus on this one then steped to the side and garrus blew the fuck outta him
@SRSLYlolWTF Snipers are supposed to be inconspicuous. Garrus was aiming from a dark location, hundreds of metres away. Not to mention Shepard was also obstructing his view.
If there was a renegade/paragon act while Garrus was talking if he let sidonis go, it would go like this:
Paragon (if he spared sidonis): Shepard: trust me Garrus, it's for the better that you let him go, you don't want the burden of a murder on you'r shoulders?
Garrus: I guess you're right, thanks Shepard.
Renegade: (if he killed sidonis): Shepard:I've had enough of you pissing in my ear with all this sidonis bullcrap! All you did was piss me & C-Sec off, and be warned Garrus, that's where you
@XenosRex Not from what I've seen. By what I mean is that he hasn't done anything diabolical as of yet. Yes he sent Shepard into the collector ship even though he may have though it was a trap. But remember it's commander fucking shepard he can handle it. Yeah he wanted the collector base but....hey Cerberus doesn't know how to make reapers and they don't really commit genocide as Mitch as make sure humans are on the top rung
I let Sidonis live only for the fact that killing him didn't really seem like Garrus to me.It was more of an empty shell obsessed with revenge than actually having Garrus there.Plus,I want Garrus to grow up into a smart badass, not some turian who thinks being a Spectre (or at least not part of C-Sec) means killing somebody who even looks at him the wrong way and knowing he won't gain anything from it.
The whole live a guilty life crap is such a cliche. I've always believed that just because its paragon and its good, doesn't mean its purely the right choice. I've always felt like constantly telling Garrus what to do was like mommying him around and holding him back from his potential to become a specter. Thats how I handle most of my loyalty missions. I see it as they're mission not mine.
My version on ME2 on the PC also had those strange glitchy effects when getting out of the car etc. I'm gona make sure i choose this option in my playthrough for ME3
As much as Sidonis is an asshole, i didnt shoot him for two reasons:
1. He fells sorry for what he done. Not to mention his live was on stake, its understantable.
2. I dont want Garrus to turn into some crazy lunatic and goes on killing spree. I want him to understand that revenge doesnt solve the pain. And who knows maybe if you let Sidonis live, he will sacrifice himself to save Garrus in ME3.
P.S If you were on Sidonis place, you would also betray your team to save your skin ADMIT IT!
@Chester1004 Couldn't say I completely agree about Sidonis, but I did stop Garrus from killing him - mostly because I didn't like the idea of letting Garrus do that (I have a feeling he wouldn't stop there or learn anything from it) but also because it is kinda sadistic to force Sidonis to live the rest of his life burdened with the guilt of knowing that ten people are dead because of his selfish actions. (Pity you can't tell Garrus that...but Paragon isn't meant to be evil I guess.)
@markinator123 The reason I didn't allow Garrus to blow that fucker's head-off, is because I believe it might lead Garrus into a dark path. I don't give a shit about Sidonis's well-being, I care about Garrus. He might become the next Saren (They even hinted it throughout the series) if he kills his old-friend in cold blood. By letting him go, it allows Garrus to see the world in shades of grey instead of black & White. I'm a Paragade player BTW,
@uadfa Your decision is fine. However, I really don't see Garrus becoming another Saren if you let him kill Sidonis. Would he be a bit more ruthless and merciless? Yes. Next Saren? Not quite.
@markinator123 I think he would be, considering his scars allude to it and having him mention his father thinking he would become like Saren. His voice also sounds eerily reminiscent of Saren's in this mission. I don't think he would be just as bad or worse than Saren, but very close, and close isn't good. But here's how I see it.
Renegade Outcome: Garrus goes into a darker path.
Nuetral Outcome: Garrus will be his same old self.
@markinator123 But it /starts/ with that. Just a little bit more ruthless and merciless...then a little more...little more...little more. Most people become dark by degrees.
Despite the fact that Zaeed's revenge mission seems much more realistic, this is still a good mission because it's a chance to see Garrus battle his demons. Or so I feel. Anyways, how great would it be if you did shoot Sidonis and then came the patented: "SCOPED AND DROPPED!"
@Bloopersdude1 LOL! I thought I was the only one who did that. It's ridiculous how many squad combinations there are in this game... so hard to decide who to take!
I'm curious to see the repercussions of this. But in all of my playthroughs, Garrus takes the shot. He's a badass, simple as!

@Chester1004 Sidonis knew the risks going in. In my game, betrayal is not tolerated. Like I said before, I let Garrus blow that fucker's head off.

@markinator123
Yeah great you are the xxx guy who said the same line: I let Garrus blow that fuckers head off.
Use some originality FFS!
Chester1004 10 months ago
@markinator123 The reason I didn't allow Garrus to blow that fucker's head-off, is because I believe it might lead Garrus into a dark path. I don't give a shit about Sidonis's well-being, I care about Garrus. He might become the next Saren (They even hinted it throughout the series) if he kills his old-friend in cold blood. By letting him go, it allows Garrus to see the world in shades of grey instead of black & White. I'm a Paragade player BTW,
uadfa 7 months ago
@uadfa Your decision is fine. However, I really don't see Garrus becoming another Saren if you let him kill Sidonis. Would he be a bit more ruthless and merciless? Yes. Next Saren? Not quite.
markinator123 7 months ago
@markinator123 I think he would be, considering his scars allude to it and having him mention his father thinking he would become like Saren. His voice also sounds eerily reminiscent of Saren's in this mission. I don't think he would be just as bad or worse than Saren, but very close, and close isn't good. But here's how I see it.
Renegade Outcome: Garrus goes into a darker path.
Nuetral Outcome: Garrus will be his same old self.
Paragon Outcome: Garrus becomes more forgiving.
uadfa 7 months ago
@markinator123 But it /starts/ with that. Just a little bit more ruthless and merciless...then a little more...little more...little more. Most people become dark by degrees.

@Chester1004 Honestly, Id hate myself for it but I would. I know Im not alone too.

@Chester1004 It would be interesting if you let Sidonis live in ME2, he would find his atonement in ME3 by becoming the new Archangel.

I let Garrus take the shot, watched this video, and am now playing through to let Sidonis live.

arghwoo 10 months ago
@arghwoo What's bad in letting Garrus have a little target practice?
insight1337 10 months ago
@insight1337 You're forgetting that Omega gave him a lot of target practice.

Paragons ARE really favored
Why the hell would Garrus stay loyal to you after this - it's "unrealistic"..
Skidern 11 months ago
@Skidern because a part of Garrus probably didn't really want to do it, and i think he understands you made him do the right thing
thewerdnna 11 months ago
