  • I would overpay to see a Bill Hicks comedic performance and I would overpay right afterward to see a Bill Hicks music show.

Ils reviendront.

  • He was so much more than a comedian, and god could me have used him over the last 20 years. Please do you have this for download, I'm having trouble finding it.

  • Did Bill Hicks sing this?

  • @link6065

    Yes he did.

  • Derrière cette beauté diaphane, comme en suspension, on sent une telle richesse, une telle humanité... C'est splendide!

  • Hicks himself believed there is no such things as death. Life is only a dream. He is still with us ans always will be.

  • Thanks Bill.Nice soundtrack for the "movie" XX's 4ever ^_^

  • It's too bad that anybody feels like they should mock one another because someone else may have different opinions than you....I think if Bill had one message to you & I its that in reality, in death, we are all one and i think this song really expresses that. Thanks Bill

  • Sounds like Jon Lennon or Valdimir Lenin you decide. Free market economies are the freedom of the strong to feed upon the weak.

  • I actually don't understand the guy who said he sings bad. His voice sounds fucking beautiful in this!

  • What a wonderful song...Bill was such a conscious and sensitive human. His rough comedy acts were to wake people up

  • Great comedian for a singer

  • not to offend anyone or anything but am i the only one who has a belief the government gave him his illness?

  • @JonGazsi

No you wouldn't be the only one. But the fact he died from stomach cancer in my opinion reflects on the way he digested life.

  • Man we need a Bill for our fucking generation man wtf has happened. Musics got worse. tv's got worse and lives getting worse. He told us this would all happen but our mindless society never wants to listen to the ones who actually wanna help the world, instead people are to self caring and don't care for anyone except them self. I can happily say if every celeb at the moment, bar a very small percent died right now they wouldn't be missed nor remembered, I still feel sad to know he's dead.x RIP

  • Ow and I've talked to his Spirit and he agrees. :) He sends his love! (Yes, also love for all trolls, haters and zomboids)

  • I logged on just to comment on this one... I LOVE billy, but let's all thank God Herself that he became a comedian, because DAMN.. Moon is smiling and dogs are howling.

    Face it; It's pure crap

    CRAP! but pure crap

  • @kroese1870 I think its pretty great myself, and the fact that its Bill makes it all the more listenable because you know he actually "PLAYED FROM HIS FUCKKKINNGGGG HEART!!!!' haha

  • @mymentor Hahahahah, fucking idiot. Bill is probably laughing at you right now. This is a Bill Hicks video - let's face it, the majority of people here are Hicks fans. Why would you come here and start insulting Bill? I can GUARANTEE he's got a fuck-load more talent than you.

  • Typical Hicks haters, "let me be a condescending asshole so that I get a couple direct responses from passionate people to make it seem like I'm more articulate". Bill Hicks may have never intended for this to be heard. If you heard a shitty piano track played by Albert Einstein, or a shitty techno song by Stephen Hawking, would it somehow discredit their intelligence? Does it really matter? oh and @IndigoWarrior12, nice use of a thesaurus. Did you get a new one for highschool?

  • @IndigoWarrior12

Total bellicose, unlettered, semi-coherent Hicks-fan fail.

  • @mymentor

Jesus you're still here. I guess I respect your tenacity but you have to have no life to keep returning to a video of twenty-odd year old song that was half-released and lambaste it over and over.

  • Bill Hicks is one of the most amazing people to ever grace this planet; He was not a messiah he was just an ordinary guy who happened to accidently clear his third eye chakra of its blockages which then allowed him to clearly see the truth as it really is. He bravely stepped up and through comedic means, informed many many people of what he came to learn. Anyone can clear their third eye, there are many ways to go about it. Anyone can learn what Hicks learnd. He deserves out thx and respect.

  • Am i the only one raping replay button ?

  • this song is good..if you disagree "I want you to go find a fucking soul"

  • I was pissed off at something but, now it's gone after I listened to this. I got lost listening to it.

  • that instrumental makes me tear up <3

  • I want this to be played at my funeral. Anyone who has a soul will bring a tear to those eyes.

  • I honestly believe mymentor is not from the U.S. ,so therefore he would not know of anything of what Bill Hicks believes. All he has done was watch a couple of videos on Bill Hicks. He just will not understand it completely until one day he is put into these situations. You cannot look from the outside of the box and think you understand what goes on inside, in order to know what is going on while you're outside is if you yourself came from inside of that box. Leave him be.

  • love bill hicks, one of my idols for sure, but the rhythm guitars blatantly out of tune... sorry guys.

  • @NasEscobar1 i dont think so, hes picking chords which sound fine to me, mabey its hicks voice that cant reach them harmonys

  • 33,321 brothers and sisters...:) Peace n belly laughs to u all.

  • "Bill Hicks-blowtorch,excavator, truthsayer, and brain specialist, like a reverend waving a gun around. He will correct your vision. Others will drive on the road he built"-Tom Waits

  • did anyone else read where that apparently misguided person said "the lyrics are laughably bad"? uhhhh..... NO.

    when the night is falling

and the sky is so deep

    i can hear you calling

    from beyond your sleep

that there is enough.... that there is enough...

  • "your original argument is that anyone who likes this song is a sheep"

Source, please. I never said any such thing. I simply dislike the song, and said as much. I've not made any comment pertaining to the character of people who do like it.

  • Uh huh...

  • Lol @ people having to discuss absolutely everything. Just sit back and soak in the song for Bill's sake.

  • There is something that artists do that speaks to whom they need to speak to. It is a price we pay and a gift at the same time. If you do not hear the intended message, well then you are not meant to. Your heart leads you as it should, but if it does that correctly, it will not steer you to deride anyone. I can always be wrong.

  • whoa...I think its a great song...leave it there...kiss

  • This song was clearly strummed and sung from his heart. Is that not all that matters?

  • great song ,thanks for posting I never knew he was in to this shit, just another of his talents

  • @mymentor Oh fuck off you cunt.

  • @mymentor I don't make Bill out to be a 'messiah'. He was an insightful, talented, funny man. But I do not make him out to be a divine prophet.

And frankly, I don't give a goddamn if his singing is 'good' or not. At least Bill didn't use a fucking computerized-robot voice like so many 'artists' use.

And as I said before, he 'played from his fucking heart', that's all that matters.

Now piss off, twat, thank you.

  • @superALable

Seems to me you have a more sensible attitude about him than his more ardent fans.

"he 'played from his fucking heart', that's all that matters"

I personally disagree. You need talent, and judging from this, he had none.

    Each to their own.

BTW, are you able to compose a reply to someone without an insult? It would be sad not to think so.

  • @mymentor and by the way, buddy, lay off your articulate vocabulary, it does not make you look anymore intellectual than a grasshopper. Bill is talented, and sure, he does not have an outstanding voice, but there are several classic bands that sport smooth composition and "talent", but their song writing is breath taking. I can tell you're not a musician because you don't grasp the concept of a melody. Melodies carry songs, my friend. You trolling a Bill Hicks song proves how empty you are.

  • @9ne

I am a musician, actually, and wouldn't mind betting my musical taste is just as 'branched out' as yours. If you like Hicks's music, that's fine. I think it borders on a joke.

Insult noted. Why do so many Hicks fans have no recourse other than foul-mouthed attacks? I'm not having a go at you - why so worked up?

  • @mymentor Why do you care when someone swears? Its not a big deal. I swear when I'm happy, bored, annoyed, angry, sad, jubilant, etc.

  • @9ner

Each to their own. I tend to think swearing too much is a sign of limited vocab and intellect/imagination. Believe me, I'm guilty of this myself.

It's more being called an 'ignorant cunt' that I consider - well, a little unneccessary.

  • @mymentor You know who else swore a lot? Lenny Bruce. One of the greatest comedic minds and social philosophers of that time. Swearing does not indicate ones intellect...you should focus more on their rhetorical patterns and sentence structure. Even then, not every bright individual is a sound verbal communicator. Oh, and I'm sure Lenny Bruce would call you an ignorant cunt for calling this the worst music you've ever heard. I've heard everything, and this is far from the worst.

  • @9ner

I said it was one of the worst songs I've heard - that was actually recorded, anyway.

Yes, I've heard worse. The Shaggs and Beat Happening produce worse music than Hicks.

I'm not particularly concerned about whatever Lenny Bruce would or would not have called me. Of course cussing doesn't invalidate someone's opinion - it's just unneccessary.

  • @mymentor This song has a GREAT melody, objectively speaking. The guitar playing sets a dreamy lullaby kind of mood, and it fits this song perfectly. It's a perfect song for staring at the moon, thinking about the past present and future.. His voice is obviously not perfect, even the greatest singer's voices weren't perfect. If you hate this guy's voice, I don't even want to know what you think of Neil Young's voice, or Tom Wait's voice.. Or even Wayne Coyne's voice.. Clean your ears out, son.

  • @TheSunAndAntarctica I'm glad you like it, and I always say each to their own.

    I think it's atrocious.

  • @mymentor It's cool, but I'd like to know what you like, because even if I happen to enjoy it, I'd still post several pages worth of petty insults because that's obviously what every fan of that music wants to hear.

Do you understand what I'm getting at? It's cool that you have your opinion and other people have theirs, but why bother? You're not getting any head nods around these parts. Find an anti-hicks video to complain in, although I doubt you'll be that lucky, with your fringe opinions..

  • @TheSunAndAntarctica

Who do I like? Well, too many to mention. Perhaps an apposite example would be John Coltrane, who I've seen referred to as making ugly, indecipherable noise. Well, I don't agree personally, but I don't take any offence personally. Each to their own.

If you want to express your negative opinion on any artist I like, I can't imagine caring at all. I'm not as thin-skinned as apparently many Hicks fans are (I'm not talking about you necessarily).

    And...

  • @mymentor Touche. Neither am I sensitive in regards to artists that I particularly enjoy. I actually like Coltrane. Actually, seems I like a lot of free jazz more than I do regular jazz.. That could certainly match the description given - but that person just doesn't hear what you or I hear. You just happen to not hear what I hear in this song, and it's all good. It's just bad mojo to go out of your way to have something bad to say, honestly, and you seem like a cool guy..

  • @superALable To this I've never been reduced to tears by a song... but this... beautiful. Thank you for posting :-)

  • @superALable Did he play this guitar himself as well?

  • @mymentor And honestly, I don't feel the need to defend any artist I like, because there's ALWAYS going to be people that dislike that artist.. Hell, before I started to love music, the first style I'd really gotten into was seattle's "grunge" scene.. But two years before I got into those bands, I'd heard one or two songs by bands that I'd later love, that I never heard of and absolutely hated.. It was a Mad Season song, and a Mudhoney song.. Tastes and perceptions change with the seasons.

  • @TheSunAndAntarctica

The bottom line, to me, is that an artist (much like a politician) puts themselves out to judgement, especially one who is abrasive as Hicks. I don't like him, period - but I respect the fact that others do, and I respect that. I also respect that people won't like artists of my preference.

I tend to agree that mindless bashing of an artist is a pointless exercise. I may be guilty of that with Hicks (the word limit on YT doesn't allow for great amount of exegesis...)

  • @mymentor I can dig it, man. No biggie, really.

  • @TheSunAndAntarctica

...but all but the most base criticism can only be as hurtful as one allows it to be. I'm bewildered by the vehemence of certain Hicks' fans to criticism of the man's work; it seems to be a semi-religious devotion in some cases, and I've been told to kill myself on various occasions for expressing a derisive attitude. I don't recall similar reactions from fans of other artists.

This clearly doesn't apply to you, and that you for your measured and thoughtful response.

  • @mymentor And I agree that some of these comments were a little harsh, considering it's just a song.

  • @mymentor Perhaps if you were an American you would understand. I would suggest not criticizing so much. Is that so difficult?

  • @pdxberit

"I would suggest not criticizing so much. Is that so difficult?"

Bill Hicks entire career was built on criticising things, including music. What's sauce for the goose...

  • @mymentor You apparently miss the point. Go listen to Mr.Mister you slug!

  • @pdxberit

I must have. Didn't miss the insult, though. Par for the course with Hicks fans.

But I'll wish you a good day.

  • @mymentor don't act like you're the civilized one, you provoked him. You act like you're fine with having a difference of opinion, but your original argument is that anyone who likes this song is a sheep, so i think it's well without the bounds of reason to tell you to please, fuck off.

  • @mymentor

It has a typical 60s/70s sound to me, which seems to be the sort of music he loved. sounds more like a demo than an actual finished track to me.

  • Comment removed

  • @mymentor I won't refrain from using any of the words available to me. FUCK YOU. Bill Hicks was about soul. If you had one maybe you could feel this.

  • @newrealization12

How very well considered and articulate. About what I've come to expect from a Hicks fan.

  • @mymentor You're such a twat.

  • @mymentor to be honest, bill knew he was a bad singer, knew he wasn't the best musician but he loved doing it and you can tell that in his voice.

  • @mymentor if this is one of the worst songs you have ever heard, then you're musically inept. Thats not opinion; its fact. Branch out your musical taste, you ignorant cunt.

  • @mymentor dumb ass with a holier than thou attitude

    espece de pontif pontifiant

  • @mymentor I'll disregard the other bullshit comments you made (without backing them up very much, mind you), and go for the one about the lyrics:

I believe you are terribly mistaken. The lyrics are not some shallow, wannabe-deep lyrics whose purpose is to entice listeners with easy, catchy, tunes and text, but the way I see it, they describe his personal experiences in life- case in point being his trips. Again, this is my personal interpretation. Nonetheless, his songs are not shallow.

  • @mymentor that's too bad, I'm so grateful for this song.

  • @mymentor I'm going to try to discuss this on your terms. Art isn't always about the end result in a vacuum. Sometimes when you really appreciate a person's heart and mind, however they choose to express themselves resonates. Bill was honestly trying to enlighten every person he came into contact with. I can feel that, even when listening to him speak/sing.

So, what is one of the BEST songs you've ever heard? Just so we can get a feel for your level of expertise here.

  • Purely sublime, ethereal

  • i miss bill ... seriously :(

  • I hate when people call Bill a misanthrope. If you actually watch his standup, you can tell he genuinely cared about people and he was just frustrated at how we are forced to live in a world ruled by corruption, greed, and gratuitous hate. He loved everybody - he just hated the fact that we're brainwashed into becoming stupid assholes the minute we are born. No one with a thoroughly squeegeed third eye hates other human beings. And if that's not enough, listen to this beautiful fucking song.

  • @MrMackeyMmmkay But he was cynical as FUCK.

  • @rockyrigby Aaaaand that's why we love him :')

  • @rockyrigby so? Thats no crime lol

  • @COMMUNISTPHILOSOPHY That was a compliment to Bill, actually.

  • @MrMackeyMmmkay well said mate

  • @MrMackeyMmmkay haha im sorry man, but listen to rant in e minor, he blatantly says that he hates people :P but he has his reasons, and i dont think that he believes that we're inherently bad.

  • @MrMackeyMmmkay

I was surprised to hear that he was heavily into spiritual ideas, considering a lot of his jokes/pieces I've heard kind of went against a belief in that sort of thing and laughed it the stupidity of it all.

Been dead for almost twenty years, and he still has the power to make open people's eyes and minds :D

  • @MrMackeyMmmkay actualy he call himself a misanthrope humanistic

    he love too much people

    he hate people.

  • bill hicks and kurt cobain died in 1994. justin bieber and i were born in 1994. justin bieber thinks he's the cobain of our generation. does that make me the bill hicks of our generation?

fuck that shit, i would die to bring those two back.

  • @Gladiator2155 uhm, kurt cashed in. you'd be dying in vain for that one. Bill, he's probably happier where he is, at the evolution bell curve, waiting for us to catch up.

  • @Gladiator2155 do you think for one second that your life is much less important than any of those that have come to pass and have yet to be born.

Remember we all have something special that we are meant to do and inspire.

Take into consideration what is more important. 1) watching the Idiot Box = Brainwash into thinking and understanding things that are total lies. 2) Gaining experiences with others that have yet to awaken or has awakened. 3) just think about the changes that are coming. :P

  • @calmperson101 i agree with everything except us having something we were meant to. individually, no, but collectively, yes. we are meant to live in harmony with ourselves and our earth. thats it. its really that simple

  • enough to make you cry with the images. a beautiful song, R.I.P

  • I only registered here for this song and him. How funny, huh? When I feel outside too much...and I kinda get down. I remember him...and now this song. :)

  • I would kill for the guitar tabs to this song.

  • @senorpancakes use ur ear sonny

  • Consciousness does not exist..only "God".

  • @PerceptualStructure Consciousness is "God"

  • my god ... Bills voice sounds just like John Lennon's , the irony !

  • Happy I found this..

  • I love this sooooooooo much! Thank you for sharing.

  • i had been listening to this song for a little while, discovering bills music after his genius comedy. and then one night while high in the attic with my best friend we thought we would invite bill over as you do, and stuck this on. if you havent listened to the whole way through before, save it for a special moment. its unbelievable. pure bliss.

  • best comedian in my opinion and probably the most enlightened person ever

  • How sickly sweet.

I wasnt old enough, or aware enough, to mourn him then. This is what it must have felt like when his fans heard the news.

I hope he's enjoying the ride.

  • Taking a step back and looking at what we have done to the world is a dornting thing. i just wish we all got along, lay back, looked at the stars and beyond. R.i.p Bill hicks )':

  • Why?? He was too talented! Bill Hicks is my hero!

  • Why?? He was too talented!

  • comforting to my soul and mind

  • Who ever disliked this, please give me your address. I am going to kill you!

  • all it takes for bad to happen is for the good to stand by and say nothing

speak your mind and fuck the masses

  • Comment removed

  • bill hicks moon is shining for christmas no 1 2011 '"give them the finger".

  • this is good. has he sung any other songs?

  • @winggoddess search for "CincinnatusSPQR Bill Hicks" , CincinnatusSPQR has uploaded a lot of bill hicks music.

  • I miss him

  • did he ever release a music album? i cant find any :(

  • @Gladiator2155 search for the album " Marble Head Johnson". has tracks sung and written by Bill Hicks

  • If everyone listens....deep inside what we call the subconscience(which is in reality Universal Conscientiousness as Bill said) we can all still listen to Bill Live if you tap into it. He understood what the moon represents in this reality that our minds create. If the moon isn't important, then why do we "perceive" it being larger then it really is? We don't do that to the Sun or any other heavenly body. It is in our brains that the Moon is enlarged beyond it's real size. Reflect!!

  • without a doubt, truly an amazing song. But why are you guys so mopey? just because he is no longer with us physically, doesn't mean he is dead. He will always be around in spirit and in all the amazing stuff he made/ said in his short run with us. Instead of being sad that he is no longer producing great works of comedy and trippy goodness, remember all the smiles, laughs and bits of wisdom this man gave to the world.

  • @lehdzeppelin that's so true man, just because he died doesn't make anything he said any less true.

  • Only 1 person disliked this.... Bill Hicks!

  • I Cried.

  • Miss you Bill

  • That's a beautiful song. Too bad he can't sing better:)

  • sounds like lenon vocally and plays as good as jimi.

why the fuck did you have to go ? was heaven that bored without you bill?

  • @guitar19904

Shut up. Who are you. God?

  • @Ch33kyB

    lol fag

  • This is such a great song

  • ;/ so beautifull

  • TABSSS WHERE ARE YOU

  • We have 1 non smoker in the room... Love you Bill...

  • He died on February 26 1994... i was born on February 26 1994... i love this guy and i hate that i never had the chance to meet him he was to me, a god among men the good die young god dammit.

  • bill wasnt just a comedian he was a fucking crusader

  • Thank you Bill very being a positive influence on my life and the rest of humanity. RIP brother.

  • Bill is one of a few people I truly look forward to talking to in the afterlife. I hope he's getting to smoke to his heart's content up there.

  • has a real pink floyd meets country vibe

  • I love Bill and the emotion is all there on this one, but there are some major pitch issues at the end. A shame.

  • @unclemeat1977 he's a real musician, none of this auto-tuned crap.

  • @Gladiator2155 I'm not talking auto-tune (which I agree with you about being a plague on music), but simply "tune." That's just something that has to be done in any type of music.

  • @unclemeat1977 some of the best music isn't polished and perfect. that's what gives it character, and soul.

  • ...most pleasing;

~the truth really does please everyone in the end my deer friend chuckles

=charlie sheen and alex jones are working on doing you justice , your deeds shall not be forgot, the truth shall see to that dear friend, rest in peace in the knowledge that your job is being done well !

  • “Because you know if you play New Kids on the Block albums backwards they sound better. "Oh come on, Bill, they're the New Kids, don't pick on them, they're so good and they're so clean cut and they're such a good image for the children." Fuck that! When did mediocrity and banality become a good image for your children? I want my children to listen to people who fucking ROCKED! I don't care if they died in puddles of their own vomit! I want someone who plays from his fucking HEART!”

    R.I.P.

  • need a copy of this

  • i think he sings good... kinda reminds me of hank williams/john lennon hybrid..thank you superAlable for the upload and thank you bill hicks for making life more tolerable.. see you at the end

  • wow i never knew bill had songs out...that was lovely lil tune...i always said bill was the best standup i evr saw

  • RIP Bill ...you are my hero!!

  • Wow, man.

I didn't expect something sweet sounding from him.

    Tears, fuh rill.

  • "I'm willing to die _S_E_V_E_N_ years before my time, as long as I'm lookin cool, each last f*ckin day"...

George Bush Jr. was elected apprx 6yrs 9 months after William passed..

  • @UnseenAdict420 William? He fucking hated that name you pretentious cunt.

  • @MUFC127 wow, you so missed the point, you cock-sucking, donkey-raping shit eater..

  • @UnseenAdict420 Wow did you think of that yourself or did you get it off the South Park movie? Think of something original and get back to me. So I'm guessing I'll see you in about 6 months.

  • I can never get sick of this song.

  • 1 dick got no moon smiling at 'em

  • Why does a genius like this have to have left us so early, with so much more left to say, while hacks like fucking andrew "dice" clay still churn out absolute crap?! RIP Bill, you Legend.

  • Wow...we could have had 17 years more of him yesterday. What a waste. FUCK CANCER.

  • bill probably thinks i'm a pussy for wanting to get choked up

  • @thSubliminalCriminal I don't think so, our friend. In fact, I hope he would be touched. Bill seemed full of all kinds of emotions and never ran from any of them. Good comedy, art and music often comes from truth and sadness. I don't just get choked up. I cry. The world misses him tremendously.
