i met with them backstage, and Jonsi was chewing on something. gum, i thought, and as an avid gum chewer, i was curious to know what he liked to chew. i asked him, he then proceeded to pull out a white, plastic "film" and he told me it was something called a Fentanyl Patch. i said, "oh.. what's it do?" and he told me that it, "helps the pain and struggles of doing so many tours." so i looked it up online to find out exactly what it was. just google it!

The patches are to stick on the skin and release the drug slowly over three days. If you chewed them you would absorb it way too fast and get a massive (likely fatal) overdose.

So that story would be unlikely at best.

google: "chewing fentanyl patches" - it's not uncommon. plus, with logic, all you'd have to do is cut the patch into little pieces rather than stuffing the whole thing in your mouth. srsly, think about it. and don't call me a liar while you're at it, swear to god i'm not lying.

Fair enough, but googling I found the majority of stories were either people who had lost a relative doing this, or had become dangerously ill themselves. Also basically all of them were people with chronic pain who had the patches prescribed but got desperaste when the dose wasn't enough. I would assume that they have an above average knowledge of that particular drug...

I won't claim to know much about Jonsi, nor about recreational use of prescription drugs (though I am a med student), but unless he does have them prescribed for pain issues already it seems a bit like playing with fire given the doses involved.

Also seems bizarre to be so open about it, though equally I don't see why he would joke about it.
