@taylormart1 if he is not willing to walk you can either pull his tale or have a friend walk behind u while walking also keep in mind as u r walking him to have his neck and head up high that is a big key for a showgoat(:
How do you keep the goats from ingesting plants that are considered toxic to them? Or do you just count on them naturally avoiding those plants? Also, wondering, will goats eat down trees such as fur, spruce and other evergreens? Thank you for sharing! Fred
I have a REALLY DUMB question, I live here in Florida...and there are LOTS of Boer and Boer crosses around where I live..My grandson is allergic to cow's milk..could I use a boer nanny for milking? Granted, she wasn't bred for milking...but any thoughts?
@yankeegurl62 Boer goats are bred for their meat. If the goat is not bred for milking then it's a no-go. BTW goat milk is very similar to human mother's milk.
how convenient. I wish I could gget this guys number I bet I live like 20 minutes away from him... I'm looking for a good boer goat to raise. but I don't think the maker of the video can respond to comments.
Very funny! The Boer was first brought to New Zealand with a few embyro's becuase Afiaca wouldn't let them go. THEN ONT CANADA got them and started breeding, it wasn't until then that Boers were getting big in Texas.
Nubians are a dairy breed you stupid tool! COME ON! Again IGNORANCE IS NOT ALLOWED IN MY BARN OR HERD. STOP MAKING YOURSELF LOOK & SOUND STUPID AND USE CORRECT TERMS! What a poor poor example of a Boer goat breeder. sad sad sad. So sad.
I'm sorry to say, that the boer goat did originate from south africa, he didnt say thats how they got to the US. Also nubian may be more popular as a dairy goat but is also considered a meat goat! He didnt say that the nubian was a meat goat he was simply saying the difference between a boer and nubian. You didnt make yourself look any smarter by calling him ignorant. You didnt even listen to him closely enough to know what he is talking about. You put words into his mouth
This is a very old topic, but I must say I disagree with you. Boer Goats did at some point in in the 90's come directly from Africa. They were imported by Jurgen Shulz, and another very wealther stockmen. Those boers were called CODI/PCI, which stood for Camelids Of Deleward Inc. and Pet Center International. They are the true South African boer goats, and that is what I breed toward. I have a 300lb buck that is full CODI, and many does with a good amount of CODI in them. :)
I love Boers. I have 9 100% to 95% and a 75% nanny. They are the best meat goat breed we ever had. :3

Pretty Boer. I have a Boer cross, not sure what she's mixed with, but she isn't as stout as a Boer, from what i've seen of the breed!
