  • Star Wars blows now. Lucas ruined it. I no longer conjure images of Empire when I think of Star Wars. Instead, I think of this tripe. Oh well, at least there's still Star Trek... Oh, yeah. Nevermind.

  • 10 years ago, George Lucas made and ate a sandwich. To this day, he is still shoving mayonnaise and pepper down his throat.

  • They should digitally add General Grievous and Count Dooku to PM so people know who the fuck they are in the prequel sequels.

  • @Beaverduck

you're talking out your ass dude, everyone else knows who they are except you lmao.

  • @WoWrelentless

I'm not talking out of my ass, good sir, and I didn't say that I don't know who they are. The point I was trying to make is that those characters were introduced to the series in the clunkiest ways possible. Would it really have been all that hard to introduce Dooku in Episode one as part of the Jedi Council? No. Would it have been difficult to introduce Grievous in Episode two? No.

    Now go suck a dick.

  • @Beaverduck

Okay, I don't want to get in to a twenty comment arguement, so I'll just apologise for being so abrupt and basically being an ass, but they don't need to be introduced then because they aren't the main story, if loads of scenes were taken up by finding out how Dooku turned to the dark side it would draw away from the main plot, which as Lucas has said in interviews, the point of the prequels was to tell the story of how Anakin Skywalker becomes Darth vader. Sorry for being a dick.

  • I liked the CGI better than the puppet in Phantom Menace... however.. DO NOT TOUCH THE PUPPET IN THE ORIGINAL TRILLOGY. That puppet was awesome.

  • I was excited for the CGI at first but this looks EXTREMELY cheaply done.

  • Lucas isn't dumb enough to change Yoda's puppet in ESB and ROTJ to CGI. The puppet just works there as it looks decent in it's surroundings and it makes Yoda look older and closer to death than the CGI one who leaps around, which makes chronological sense.

  • Omg I hope they change episode 1 yoda to CGI. It looked like shit. But they should keep 5-6 yoda a puppet.

  • @kwloy I be pissed if puppet yoda from the original trilogy is replace by the cgi yoda 'cause i grew up with puppet yoda from the empire strikes back and return of the jedi. puppet yoda is for the original trilogy. cgi yoda is for the prequals. and yes puppet yoda from episode 1 is awful and he better be replaced by cgi yoda 'cause star wars blu ray is ready to be in stores by september 16

  • I can't wait to get my hands on this version when released. The E1 Yoda as it is now is just horrible. Doesn't fit in with any of the films, just looks like a different type of Yoda-being.

  • Hey looks better...Quit bitchin fanboys.lol

  • Chicken leads to egg, egg leads to omelet, omelet leads to fecal urgency.

  • @ShinePink16 Yes, if they just erased Jar Jar, my life would be complete! As much as i like the prequels, Jar Jar is just.... Awfull!

  • is this for reals????

  • @arcyfatale yes

  • @arcyfatale Yes, for at least the last 6 years. It will probably, inevitably be on the Blu-ray coming out this September with, hopefully, more improvements to PTs. Not so much to the Originals

  • @scottb3034

Lucas should just leave it alone. Please don't tell me yoda will be digital in the original trilogy.

  • @arcyfatale I don't think he will do that. Even he probably recognizes the iconic nature of that puppet and the outcry if he did switch it out. Chances are the PT will be CGI and the OT puppet. I don't think he expressed much displeasure about the puppet anyway.

  • When you say it's just a test, you mean they're going to work on it more to make it look more real, right? I hope so.

  • Enough with the fucking bitching! I knew about this ever since the release of "Episode 3 on DVD. If you click on the making-of Doc you see the new and thankfully improved Yoda. I can't beleive you idiots are actually bitching about that crappy puppet. Old news morons.

  • He looks soooooo good! <3

  • The Phantom Menace in 3d? WHAAAAAAAAAAT????

  • there is no cgi version of yoda in episode one! it was just a test how it would look like! thats why the cgi of yoda here looks so '99!

  • @Z3R00NE actually, there is a CGI yoda in The Phantom Menace. the scene at the end where yoda is talking to obi-wan about training anakin. when the scene opens, yoda is shown walking, and is full CGI.

  • I actually did kind of hope they'd switch TPM yoda for CG, because the puppet didn't exactly hold up well under the bright lights they used in that chamber. This render isn't very good though, as it doesn't carry the right emotions.

  • Is this version out yet?

  • @KeithPsychosis No, it won't be out until it goes to theatres in February of 2012.

  • @AceProductions91 It COULD be in the Blu-Ray release though. You never know.

  • Chicken leads to egg, egg leads to omelette, omelette leads to fecal urgency.

  • If Lucas wants to replace the TPM Yoda, it's fine, because the puppet there looked like SHIT! But please, George, leave the puppet in the original trilogy alone, PLEEEEASE!

  • @SpyengoEen That's one adjustment i can agree with, I like every change he has made but please leave puppet Yoda! It really helps as it shows how old he is!

  • @Busher50 he's supposed to be young here. younger that any other film!

  • This is much better than the original one in Phantom Menace. Oy. That was painful.

  • xD im gonna laaugh if this turns out horribly wrong!!! lol :D

  • he needs to stop tweeking and make new episodes (not animation) I mean like in the movies not the Clone wars thing. He needs to show lukes kids or even beter the sith area I mean which was first Sith or Jedi. I think Sith and that the sith were good but then Dath Bane made them evil with his new order. And then the jedi will just always be the oppise of them. if they became good the jedi would problay just do the opisite and go evil.

  • The Phantom Menace's yoda, II and III's yoda, and V and VI's yoda all share very different appearances. Though I find the differences very unimportant (the saga is unaffected anyways), if Lucas wants to perfect his "yodas", the way I find best, but less efficient, is to CGI every yoda used. But the whole concept of changing the "yodas" to match is pointless. I hope Lucas won't go too far just to tweak a small, little issue nobody gives shit about.

  • no amount of cgi can counter the travesty of the prequels...the People vs George Lucas!

  • This is one of the few edits I believe is warranted to Star Wars. The puppet in Episode I looks awful, and it gives the new trilogy consistency with regards to the look of Yoda. Too bad George can't make the prequels good movies though.

  • i feel so sorry for George Lucas, he continually re-edits his films. will he ever see his films as works of the work of art they are and are perfect the way they are.

  • In all seriousness, I believe he has OCD.

I used to have it pretty bad, myself, and he exhibits some of the same symptoms, such as the need to continually tweek something until it is perfect (which it can never be to one with OCD).

  • @Skull10 Kubrick had OCD. George Lucas does not have it. Please show me the perfection when he shoots a first draft screenplay.

  • @HollowsRus

Well some artist's are just that sensibility. Some people pimp up & fine tune cars , update clothing styles and work on and revisit a drawing , fix up & redecorate houses. Restore paintings.

Then there are other Directors and Filmakers who do a movie in theathers and that's it. Neither are wrong. Just there sence & style. I for one am looking forward too getting this new set on Blu-ray disc finally. But that's just me.

  • @HollowsRus

But for instance, the emperor change for episode V was good.

  • @HollowsRus there isn´t anything you want to improve about your life or the world?

  • Thank you! Finally theyve corrected Yoda's appearence.

  • if only lucas came up with tht in the 2001 extended version instead of a 9 sec clip on ep 3 in 2005

  • Comment removed

  • What is a lie? that they Lucasfilm admitted that the clip from the EP3 DVD was a test to show the new Yoda CGI for a future release of TPM?

  • Nope This was a test for using a CGI Yoda for they can use him in Episode II & III Rick McCalum said this at Star Wars Celebration in 2007

  • @shellatella

But wait, did Adywan creat this CGI Yoda is was it LucasArts with the 2004 DVD re-release?

  • this is a lie people, this is from the Ep 3 DVD

  • puppet yoda, but from the Revisted version

  • I prefer the real puppet used in Empire Strikes Back and Return Of The Jedi, because for me that looked a lot more realistic than the CG yoda's. Now they just look like some clever CG...nothing more, no character. Some tweaking of the original puppet should have been used for the prequels,a puppet with lip syncing enhanced in post. The Phantom Menace puppet is terrible though. I know he's meant to be younger, but it looks nothing like him

  • He should cut out Jar Jar as much as possible, give Darth Maul more screen time, cut the pod race in half and it would not have hurt to show more jedi...

  • I like puppet yoda much better than CG yoda. He was more real.

  • @bassman5588 although cg yoda's movements were more lifelike

  • When will this rerelease of Episode I come out?

  • When you think about it, Yoda was 864 in The Phantom Menace. Yoda looked completely different in Attack of the Clones, which was 10 Years after The Phantom Menace. so it must have been a hell of a 10 years lol :)

  • No, no he does not. The puppet of ESB and ROTJ looks far better than any of his CGI incarnations.

And as for the trilogies flowing better, the PT should change to accomadate the OT, not th other way round. Where and why the hell would you put Sidious in ANH?

  • Putting Sidious in Episode 4 is a bad move. He's meant to be introduced in his last stand, Return Of The Jedi.

  • Introduced at the end? Hes introduced in Episode 1, so there wouldn't need to be any worrying about his ''introduction'' episode 4 because he has already been introduced. He is the central villain from the very start of Episode 1, so he can appear anytime throughout without any problems.

  • Introduced in the classic trilogy in Episode 6. Putting him in 4 would be a bad move. Episode III is a very dark film, and IV is best as it is now, taking a breather, so to speak. I don't feel it would suit.

  • Sidious was first introduced in Empire, not Jedi

  • i think they shud add scenes of sidious talking to vader in epi 4. it cud be easy as vader is wearin mask n sidous is the same actor from both the trilogy.

  • ...Oh dear lord, Lucas is raping the past (with sandpaper).

  • I'll miss "stoned yoda"... one of the few things that made Episode I watchable! :(

  • Meh, the real puppet with Adywan's touches looks better. ;)

  • and finally admitted at the recent comic con that they will be replacing it with this 'test' for the future release...

  • Did they say when that future release would be?

Or what else will be altered (prequel or OT)?

  • what? this is from a test clip they did for episode 2 to show a CG yoda

  • thank god they'll replace that ugly muppet
