At the very beginning of Kill Bill II, there's a song that begins with the theme of the guitars at the end, but it's played on piano. It's called Silhouette of Doom, also from Navajo Joe and composed by Enrico Morricone. SoD was also used in the Elle Driver/California Mountain Snake scene. Excellent use of an excellent score.

I haven't seen Navajo Joe before, but when I hear 2:56- 4:04 I just picture this epic moment where the bad guys think they've won, and they turn around to see the protagonist approaching with the sun, a promise of death blazing from his baleful face, as well as sheer horror expressed by the bad guys....

I love tarantino and kill bill but you should give credit to the original films. Also used in kill bill is one of the main themes of "death rides a horse" starring lee van cleef, another terrific western.

The vocalist you are asking about is a lady called Gianna Spagnulo.

She also performed (for example) for this Great Master on his score for the TV epic 'MOSES' ~ anyone who hasn't heard it, try looking for it on uTube.

Very different from NAVAJO JOE, mind you!

Tarantino wanted Morricone to write some original music for 'KILL BILL', but as it was to be just a few minutes, THEE Maestro (quite rightly) declined.

'NAVAJO JOE' was released on CD in an expanded version by FSM.
