Beethoven did not "compose" this piece the way he did his other ones. This was one he sat down and played at some poor blind girl's house at night, during full moon, hence the name. He played all three movements back to back as he invented them. Then he went home and wrote them down on paper.
@pelvicthrusta Hmm... I read a story about this in a history book, cannot remember which book. But I think you're right. I just looked it up and could find no other sources regarding the story. Bummer, would have been a good story!
@arooobine I just read about it and he composed it for his 17 year old pupil Countess Giulietta Gucciardi with whom he was madly in love... and the inspiration for the name apparently came from a poet i think
@arooobine I read it somewhere else on some music website but wikipedia is usually right anyway. I think the common misconception about wikipedia is that since it could be edited by anyone people don't consider it to be a reliable source. But I've only seen one thing that makes no sense and it was changed about 20 minutes after it was posted
@arooobine LOL. Sorry for breaking it to You, but all those stories about 'pianist closing his eyes and composing a piece in one breath in some heart touching circumstances' are nothing more than silly fanciful stories which one would like to believe in...but truth is that, most piano masterpieces took at least months, sometimes years to be completed...and very often were dedicated to the person of the same sex...
@levaslevas Have you seen the movie The Gray? Imagine if the survivors all had pianos and the wolves were interested in them. That's what 250% speed sounds like.
Dude, AllI know about pianos is that you push a key and it makes noise. This kinda snapped my brain in half then stomped on it a little. Then it bought it a drink and two tickets to Paris. I'm confused.
@ChristyEmanuelson Dont say that, i saw someone play this in person and i didnt think i was that good after all, now i know about a minute of it and ive only been playing for about 8 months self taught
i'm not an expert in piano but i think in some parts of the piece you are supposed to play softer and some parts louder—i don't think you've got that down...
I saw Shroder playing this song last night on "Happiness is a warm blanket" after the Peanuts Thanksgiving special... Then I thought in the comics the black keys aren't real...
Beethoven wasn't deaf at the time he wrote this Sonata. Further more, when Beethoven was deaf writing this 9th Symphony, he knew exactly how it would sound like because he composed it and heard it all in his head.
@Twiggy286 Yeah it's just patterns really. I can play the first 30 seconds well and at the right speed, after I've finished Pathetique I'll move onto this and hopefully get it finished.
@IQKZZZ Oh I knew it was a joke I was just trying to play a long, mastering the piece is very very difficult. I can only play up to 0.28 well and I'll tell you 0.17-0.24 is an absolute finger twister, playing that part 3 times in a row really makes my hands hurt.
@TheYO064 ChrisKogos, just incase you read this, your video is flashing because you made the video at a different framerate than what you recorded it at, so it fills the extra frames with flashes.

why does it seem so easy now i looked at this song when i first started playing 3 years ago and thought impossible... but now it looks easy enough i might learn it this weekend
This is not EXACTLY how you would want to play the moonlight sonata. You would want to keep the left/right hand accompanies much much softer than what the computer is doing. You would also use rubato. You would use more dynamics. Everything sounds forte. It's still pretty slow tbh. play it how horowitz plays it the 1960 something version. or the barenboim version. sorry bro, but i must troll. please respond :)
This just proves that Beethoven is a disciple of Chuck Norris. BTW, Chuck Norris died 10 years before Beethoven died. Death just hasn't got the courage to tell him that.
few years ago two parents went out for dinner. A few hours later, the babysitter was calling to see if she could cover up the clown statue in the kids' room, the father said "Get the kids and get out of the house, we'll call the police we don't have a clown statue". funny thing is, for a genius composer and player, this would be played by his hands naturaly and instictively
"lesser" players (the average piano player) have trouble because the music (and the movements made to play it) are not natural to them
I imagine the great composers had more trouble writting all this stuff down than actually imagining it
