  • Bad stances. Cannot perform kick-up without hands. Not a good performance at all.

  • what i mean by modern wushu forms are the ones you see in competition now a days. Like where they do gainers and 720's. Even tho its not well performed, im pretty sure he can kick any of those wushu athletes ass lol.

  • @AK41 Most of what you see in competition these days are Chanquan where as this is Changquan. Different styles but both are still wushu at modern competitions. Nanquan just isn't as common.

  • @Master0fspaceandtime How is this changquan? Maybe i dont understand what you mean. And I agree nanquan isnt that popular. And the stuff they do now in nan quan forms are retarded

  • @AK41 My bad, I misstyped. I thought Nanquan and typed Chanquan. I meant to say that this is modern nanquan. And the nanquan I've seen has been pretty cool, although idk where you are/who you see doing wushu.

  • i agree.. Im not criticizing shaolin monks or there work ethic but seeing nan quan from other practitioners this wasn't well performed well at all. Im not comparing this to any of the modern wushu forms cuz those have absolutely no meaning. But watching this it doesnt seem like he has spirit in doing this form. Like the last part of the form his arms are so low in swinging them. How is that gonna hurt anyone? Hes quick tho and props for tornado falling on cement. haha

  • @AK41 Not sure what do you mean by "Im not comparing this to any of the modern wushu forms". Because this is in fact a modern wushu form. This is the modern nanquan international compulsory routine. Other than that, I agree the performance is not up to par.

  • Anyone who has ever studied any style of southern shaolin kung fu can tell you this bares little resemblance, whether from a stylistic perspective, power generation perspective, application perspective, or artistic perspective.

The beginning and the end of his form tell you just about everything you need to know about it. It's modern wushu parading around as nanquan. It doesn't matter how good this guy is at other performances---this is not a good nanquan performance.

  • I find it odd that people will criticize a Shaolin monk, the original source of the Nan Quan form because a guy at an Olympic tournament won a tournament for it.. Nan Quan is an internal form, it's not supposed to be randomly explosive.. 0:10 is the key factor of his form.

  • Also this form has been made by a woman. So u wanna see how its supposed to be done with emphasis on southern style movements, look for

Nanquan - International Wushu Routine - Chen LiHong. She's the person who developed this form

  • obviously u dont know anything about nanquan. First of all this form of nanquan is a modern form of southern styles.

Nanquan is known for a lot of power and deep stances. I dont see this bald head making deep gong bu stances, no power at all in his Gua Gai Quan just rushing movements.

u wanna c nice nanquan? search for he qiang or yang shi wen, those are real masters who know how to do nanquan and focussed purely on southern style as u can clearly see in their videos.

  • This bald head is a 32nd generation monk of the shaolin temple, currently ranked at a level 6. He is in fact a real master, and the applications of those movements were intended to break arms not dazzle competition judges.

  • @nanhuazhenren

then ur crazy if u think this is a good nanquan -__-

  • sloppy
