  • my father in law served as a m42 crew during vietnam. does anyone know where to find one on display???

  • The M42 was one of the most cool AA vehicles

I hoppe some day exist one model in 1/72 for my tank collection (=S)

  • I was trained on the duster in 1978. One reason I can't hear for shit. Cigarette butts for ear plugs suck.

  • They are flash suppression devices

  • What are those muzzle brake-like thingies on the muzzle? I see them a lot on AA vehicles.

  • these old anti aircraft guns have proven themselves worthy, in many wars, specially in yugoslavia where we had many russian but also american cold war era guns, and they were perfectly capable of taking down aircrafts in combat.

  • Haha I saw a parachute at the end...thats gotta suck

  • M42 dusters. The North vietnamese HATED these vehicle's to the bone, as they ripped trough anything in the jungle, and they had few weapons capable of stopping dusters (Mostly Artillery)

  • Charlie didn't have much an air-force, I asked the old man who operated these things and his response was this, Son my whole division was replaced by the guided missile and the the mini gun. I gave him a strange look and he told me that's when we threw threw rocks at the enemy lol

  • poor pilot, did he die ?

  • nope...that was an unmanned drone target

  • jou can still use this weapon. hunting assult helicopters and low flying aircraft.

  • umm, no you could not

  • It can with a radar fire control system

  • :D you can't hit a flying target with that

  • Well back then you could.

  • Was way more effective against ground targets because of its lack of radar. Mostly just luck to hit aircraft. Still a 40mm is a very powerful canon, and this has two.

  • Well that's not really true, we had conscript gunners making it a sport to shoot off the wire between the plane and the towed target so they could have a break while the plane went back to get a new one..

That's what i call a incentive =),, the better you get the less you have to work..

  • I understand and can appreciate the shooting of the wire that is towing the target. The problem still remains that it is just a slow target flying straight. I believe that with lack of radar it would be nearly impossible to hit a modern jet fighter with a well trained pilot that is trying to out maneuver the Duster.

  • cooool 40mm gun,wow i can go squirrel hunting with that.

  • if you hit one, there will be no more squirrel left. Prob no more living thing around cuz that thing prob makes a hell of a loud sound.

  • @dimputhegreat hoghunting in texas
