Nice Job Isaac, Is your tab for this available anywhere yet? I would be interested in buying it if it were for sale somewhere. I don't yet have the equipment (or skills?) you mentioned to break it down myself.
Hey thanks man! I haven't actually tried playing this song in over a year now. I bet I could do a bit more justice. I have the tab lying around somewhere. It's just handwritten. I can scan it and e-mail it to you if you like. Send me a personal message via YouTube mail and give me an e-mail address where I can send it...
Hi there Isaac, great stuff there. Whats that bit you play at the beginning of the third bar. I cant get that bit right and you and your tuner hold the secret to that honk. Cheers man. Luke
Hi Luke, I think you are probably refering to the "Honk" that comes after the long, sustained note on the 4draw? The note that sounds really nasty? That is a 2-5 split draw (tongue blocked)! It took me a while to figure it out... You go from that long 4draw (which warbles a bit to the 5 in the middle) to a short 1-4 draw octave, then you just HONK that 2-5 draw! It sounds GREAT when you get it! Hope that helps! Good luck!
Oh yeah, I forgot to mention one really important thing. In order to get the sound just right, you HAVE to "snore" when drawing that split! Make a sound just like you are about to hock a gigantic lugi! That's where 80% of the nastiness of that note comes from!
Thanks! The tuner I used is the Korg CA-30. It's a small digital deal that has 1/4" input in addition to it's internal mic. It's pretty much perfect for this kind of stuff (not to mention for practicing bends!), and I think I paid about $10 for it off Amazon...
Sorry, I misread what you asked... I'm slowing the track down , and then sending the sound to the tuner (via my computer's headphone jack). The tuner then tells me the notes that are being played, and then I figure out the hole and/or bend that I've got to do to get that note from a chart of all the notes possible on a Bb harp. Then I just tab it out, figure out the groove and timing, and PRACTICE!
Thanks Adam, I really appreciate that you take the time to do this. I just sent you a PM regarding the tab I worked up when learning this... Let me know if you want it, and I'd be more than happy to donate it to the cause!

Good playing but it sounds like just a little too much reverb or delay

Great job! A question: what is the chromatic tuner doing for you?

Not bad! You've definitely got the groove and a bunch of the licks. You've had a good year!
