All this money being thrown around will be payed off with taxpayer money. That means us, the working class of America. One problem though, there arent any jobs for us to do in order to pay taxes. I disagree, pay the man his respects. In addition, the debate took place on MLK Jr. Day. . . how can you not acknowledge his impact on america during the debate?
i'm very torn between these two candidates, Obama and Clinton, bcause, it's a minory race though Hillary does know what shes's talking about, and Barack it's sometimes vague and redundant, also pulls the sentimental part of his campaign, well idk but hillary should run 4 the white house
You will notice that Obama attempts to stay very clear on specifics, while Hillary throws around deliberately twisted accusations. Yes, they are both critical of one another. However, she is pure politics, while he is attempting to clarify his record and make legitimate distinctions between them. I don't think Edwards smells like a rose, either. He is chuckling at his lack of time in the cross-hairs.
Hillary and Obama are much more similar than either of their supporters seem to think. The only real differences in their plans are "and how many dollars will that be?", "what date do you plan to pull out?"
It's funny because out of all the candidates, Hillary has lied and flip-flopped the most yet once someone else does it, it's like all her wrong-doings disappear. Luckily Repubicans do an excellent job at making people like her look even worse. Hillary will have hell in the General especially if she starts to talk about her "experience" vs. the GOP candidates.

They all talk like they're our bosses. Saying things like they're going to be sure average workers are getting a square deal. That's not their job and they couldn't do that if they wanted to. There's a market for labor and people have to work out what a square deal is with the people the work for. A big help is if we imagine we work WITH people, not work "for" people. We all do what's in our best interest. That's fair if we're not kidding ourselves that its otherwise.
Hmm. I'm not totally sure what you mean by a square deal, but I'm assuming that you're referring to the tax rebates and stimuli. I agree that not any single president or politician can make sure that "average workers are getting a square deal," but it is in each politician's best interest to appeal to the majority, in this case the average worker, by supporting its cause.
Its certainly true that these candidates talk like bosses, but they have to appear like leaders in order to show that they have the ability to lead the people of the United States.
Well here's where I'm coming from. We don't need more leadership. I think it's a primitive concept that we need to get beyond. Mankind is at a point where we each need to lead ourselves and cut ties to government. We've had the wealth and technology to do this for a couple of centuries now, but haven't even tried. A libertarian society makes more sense now than ever.
I think that what you're proposing is a great idea--in theory. People have the need to be lead and be lead. Notice that every single revolution in the history of the world has ended with either a dictatorship or, in the case of the United States, a Democratic Republic. If a true libertarian society was to be obtained at any time (Marx hypothesized that many types of government would be cycled before arriving at an inevitable classless society), I believe now is certainly not the right time.
With the weakening of the global economy and the common American in distress, a sudden transition into a wholly different structure of government would be disastrous. Crime would run rampant and the quality of life would deteriorate greatly. In fact, any sudden change in government at any time would result in mass panic, something that nobody really wants. It may be true that every man should lead himself, but it would fail in practice and cause widespread panic and destruction.
I agree that most people are not ready for a big change. But I feel it's never too soon to spread the idea so that enough people are prepared for self-determination, enough to willingly vote themselves off of either dictatorship or majority rule. We may not be ready for it. But I do believe we are capable.
Obams is pretending to be qualified because he speaks well,is black and Oprah says so.
Hilldabeast because her experience as first lady and 6 yrs as a senator. They are both products of the liberal media and guilty white people who want to feel better about themselves by voting for a minority.
Our country will be in grave danger if either of these empty suits and pants suit gets in office.
It's the same ole, same ole. The Mexican peso was 1.25 to the American dollar circa 1920's. They borrowed and cut interest rates and now look at the peso. The American dollar is the new peso. Viva La America!
Absolutely no talk about encouraging personal responsibility. How about a plan that calls for people live within their means! Homes are being foreclosed because folks borrowed more money than they could afford. Taking money from those who didn't borrow too much to pay for those who did is not right. I've stayed in a home I could afford. Why should I pay because others didn't. Its stealing. 66% of every dollar in taxes is spent distributing the other 34%. We Can't afford a Democrat in office!
All this bogus lending has been happening under Bush's watch, with the aid and abetting of a Republican congress. But of course you'll find a way to blame Clinton and the Dems. Bush has been president the last 8 years!
In what way is offering a loan to someone who wants to borrow with clearly defined terms "bogus"? People who can't understand an agreement shouldn't sign one. Did President Bush force people to borrow too much money? The Dems have controlled both houses for the last year and a half...just before and during the current housing crisis. As hard as it is for Dems to believe government interference is not the answer. Hillary/Barak/John would only make things worse by meddling.
I don't blame Democrats, I blame Bush, but I think that what we need is a TRUE Republican in office rather than a Democrat. The fact that Bush failed us so badly in office has nothing to do with the fact that he's a Republican, it has more to do with his being a crooked, corporate-whore sonofabitch. Don't blame conservative ideologies for the economic issues we've been having, 'cause let me tell you something: Bush was NOT a fiscal conservative!
Oh but I would love to see all those banks and their loan officers, who put together all those creative "interest only" loans (especially for clueless under 25 year olds) be held personally responsible for each loan that carries their signature.
Socialization is a bastardization of the way this country was founded and intended. Republican policies are the much more intelligent decision, especially given our country's already weakened economic situation. Univeral health care is a great idea, but we're in no position to enact it without crippling our financial standing even further than it is. Vote RON PAUL for conservative fiscal policies that will help to revive the economy, not just hand out assistance through a rampant depression.
You fucking ididot! It happened on the Cons' watch.just like every other recession and depression. They all start when Cons are in the White House. It's always the Dems that have to come in and clean up after your morons.
2nd, PAUL is a Republican as Republicans SHOULD be. The problems that are killing the value of the dollar are not just home market, but the willingness of other countries to invest in the American dollar. The reason they are no longer interested in the dollar is because of our government's rampant debt and a foreign policy that borders on bullying. If we were to pull out of our irresponsible foreign policy and address our debt, confidence in the dollar would rise.

Democrats running for the office have plans for socialized medicine. Don't you realize how far we are in debt right now? We can't afford to begin a policy like that. I would like to see medicine socialized at some point in the future, but we need to figure out our debt first. Also: how to develop a government program without it becoming a beurocratic quagmire. Ron Paul will return us to basics from which we can build more progressive policies once we're ready.
If Dennis does not make it I am voting for Mcensy I think her name was. from the green party. Ron Paul is not a bad guy but there are allot of things I disagree with him with, like state regulated nuclear power.
But I am fighting hard for Dennis, he will be here in NY on the 29th at the 92st Y, ill go out there to support him.
Stop being idealistic; our government's never going to be perfect but Ron Paul is the closest chance we've got. Voting for some grn party NO NAME is truly wasting your vote. Why don't you help someone help all of us in a real way? Mcensy has 0 chance of being voted in. The government's out of control spending and wasted war effort in Iraq is killing America and ROn Paul is the closest chance we have to repair that. Alternative energy is great, but our economy comes first.
where did you get these facts from? i haven't heard anything on Paul being a biggot. he seems to be one of the few logical thinkers in the race now who really has a good idea of how to deal with America's true issues.
Stop being idealistic? Never. and if I vote for a noname, I am not wasting my vote. Even if she does not have a chance at wining, my vote says "this is who I agree with" not "I think this guy can win" so I will always vote for the person I believe in, I am not bind to social validation. I can think for myself. If you agree with RP, More power to you, I dont think he is a bad guy, I just dont agree with him on some points, so I am not voting for him.
Just like in grade school: Everyone pays for the mistakes of a few. What happens to those that followed the rules?
Interestingly, this whole mortgage problem stems from people biting off more than they could chew and not understanding how ARMs work or properly spending and saving money.
It's sad that Clinton's plan is to bail out people who were irresponsible. And it's unfortunately a trend by Dems to give a handout.
are you saying that it's a stupid idea to help the poor and suffering because it'll take money away from everyone else who are rich and could afford to help? I've been poor and it sucks and it wasn't because my parents were irresponsible, some people just dont have the opportunities to make it.
not at all. b/c of the 500 character limit, i couldn't post everything. The majority of people hit hardest by the subprime were people in the middle- upper middle class that didn't read the fine print. I've worked with the poor and blue collar during this crisis and they have undersatood their limitations in terms of finances. It's those that got greedy and looked for a half assed financing deal that are in the most trouble
Helping the boor and suffering is a great idea, I encourage everyone to do so OF THEIR OWN FREE WILL! When the government steals from others and then inefficiently distributes it, THAT is a stupid idea! The Salvation Army is much more effective! Personal responsibility. We are the result of OUR choices. I'm so tired of class warfare, and I'm lower middle class. I own where I am and you should too. Life is not fair and to try to make it so through the police powers of the state is communism.
Also, if you watch this muted, at certain (ok, most) moments it looks as though they're all comparing penis length and girth. "It's this big around, while his is this small. Plus, mine reaches over to that side of the room. Vote for me."
Democrats need to take a serious look at who can win the National Election in November. Republicans aren't going to cross party lines and vote for someone like Hillary. Obama is the clear choice for Democrats to bridge the divide and to win the presidency.
The rich are getting richer, because they live in America. Capitalism is one of the things this nation was founded on. The last I checked, I have never been employed by a poor person. John is standing up there with his $1000 suit and millions of dollars in campaign funds. Why doesn't he distribute that money to the poor? He's not going to change anything; he's had enough time to do so. John is a power hungry hypocrite.
they all keep blaming bush for his mistakes but never mention that they are the ones who give bush authorization. Hilary voted to authorize bush and now claming that this is gerorge bushs war. what a liar!
Oh come on, she APOLOGIZED. You should know by now that that makes EVERYTHING all better! So.. now we know their voting strategy: vote for things keeping the Elite in power, and then apologize when the people are unjustly served, and then blame someone else. Now that we know this is how they work, we need to get them the F outta here. VOTE RON PAUL!!!
no they have not,,, however you just asking that question is what CNN and NBC both hope would happen. go to the description section where there is a link telling you why kucinich was not there. he is being screwed by cnn and nbc and has filed complaints with the FCC. gravel has also received the shaft.
Everything she says rings so not true to me I cant take it. Were the hell is Dennis I could not watch this crap!Dennis and/or Ron gives us a real DEBATE!
if you look in the description section, you will see a link to read why Kucinich was not there along with info of how to contact CNN if you wish to share your thoughts of how good this debate was, or how biased and bought they are.

I'll drink to that, brother!

All this bogus lending has been happening under Bush's watch, with the aid and abetting of a Republican congress. But of course you'll find a way to blame Clinton and the Dems. Bush has been president the last 8 years!
pkt171 4 years ago
In what way is offering a loan to someone who wants to borrow with clearly defined terms "bogus"? People who can't understand an agreement shouldn't sign one. Did President Bush force people to borrow too much money? The Dems have controlled both houses for the last year and a half...just before and during the current housing crisis. As hard as it is for Dems to believe government interference is not the answer. Hillary/Barak/John would only make things worse by meddling.

Hooray!! Vote Ron Paul!!
audreymkell 4 years ago
I don't blame Democrats, I blame Bush, but I think that what we need is a TRUE Republican in office rather than a Democrat. The fact that Bush failed us so badly in office has nothing to do with the fact that he's a Republican, it has more to do with his being a crooked, corporate-whore sonofabitch. Don't blame conservative ideologies for the economic issues we've been having, 'cause let me tell you something: Bush was NOT a fiscal conservative!
lilkingsi 4 years ago 3
Oh but I would love to see all those banks and their loan officers, who put together all those creative "interest only" loans (especially for clueless under 25 year olds) be held personally responsible for each loan that carries their signature.

Socialization is a bastardization of the way this country was founded and intended. Republican policies are the much more intelligent decision, especially given our country's already weakened economic situation. Univeral health care is a great idea, but we're in no position to enact it without crippling our financial standing even further than it is. Vote RON PAUL for conservative fiscal policies that will help to revive the economy, not just hand out assistance through a rampant depression.
lilkingsi 4 years ago
You fucking ididot! It happened on the Cons' watch.just like every other recession and depression. They all start when Cons are in the White House. It's always the Dems that have to come in and clean up after your morons.
GoinCreekin 4 years ago
1st, I'm registered Democrat.

Stop pandering to party lines.
Ron Paul will return us to basics from which we can build more progressive policies once we're ready.

yes.. VOTE RON PAUL!! Restore the Republic!!

Want someone who actually stands for the ordinary people?....Dennis Kucinich all the way!
xblulava81x 4 years ago 2
And if Dennis doesnt make it, will all you Dems supporting him switch to RON PAUL for goodness sake??!!
audreymkell 4 years ago
If Dennis does not make it I am voting for Mcensy I think her name was. from the green party. Ron Paul is not a bad guy but there are allot of things I disagree with him with, like state regulated nuclear power.
But I am fighting hard for Dennis, he will be here in NY on the 29th at the 92st Y, ill go out there to support him.
kevinpaulharper 4 years ago
Stop being idealistic; our government's never going to be perfect but Ron Paul is the closest chance we've got. Voting for some grn party NO NAME is truly wasting your vote. Why don't you help someone help all of us in a real way? Mcensy has 0 chance of being voted in. The government's out of control spending and wasted war effort in Iraq is killing America and ROn Paul is the closest chance we have to repair that. Alternative energy is great, but our economy comes first.
audreymkell 4 years ago
Ron Paul is a libertarian running rupublican, a racist and biggot. he is NOT out to help us all.
Barbaraplease 4 years ago
where did you get these facts from? i haven't heard anything on Paul being a biggot. he seems to be one of the few logical thinkers in the race now who really has a good idea of how to deal with America's true issues.
Garretthomas47 4 years ago
Stop being idealistic? Never. and if I vote for a noname, I am not wasting my vote. Even if she does not have a chance at wining, my vote says "this is who I agree with" not "I think this guy can win" so I will always vote for the person I believe in, I am not bind to social validation. I can think for myself. If you agree with RP, More power to you, I dont think he is a bad guy, I just dont agree with him on some points, so I am not voting for him.

A bunch of rich guys sitting up there talking about what poor people need and want. How can you know what someone wants if you've never been there.

And it's unfortunately a trend by Dems to give a handout.
nfbjude14 4 years ago
are you saying that it's a stupid idea to help the poor and suffering because it'll take money away from everyone else who are rich and could afford to help? I've been poor and it sucks and it wasn't because my parents were irresponsible, some people just dont have the opportunities to make it.
flabitacrabits 4 years ago
not at all. b/c of the 500 character limit, i couldn't post everything. The majority of people hit hardest by the subprime were people in the middle- upper middle class that didn't read the fine print. I've worked with the poor and blue collar during this crisis and they have undersatood their limitations in terms of finances. It's those that got greedy and looked for a half assed financing deal that are in the most trouble
nfbjude14 4 years ago
ohhhh ok i get it
flabitacrabits 4 years ago

John is a power hungry hypocrite.

hillary voted for the greatest disaster since vietnam. She shouldn´t even run because of this failure.
