Thank you for your beautiful video message to all the Youth and Grown ups out here. Yes, I honestly confirm it got much better. And, today, I am more than ever happy and glad about who I really am. Yes, we are all beautiful the way we are. And, so are you. Dare to be yourself! Be happy. You deserve it.
This video makes me so proud to be a student at Carleton University! <3
My dad stayed in the closet for almost 40 years of his life, because he was scared to be who he was and wanted the life that everyone had expected of him. When he came out his life changed, he lost friends and family relationships changed, but my dad is now happier than ever and has realized that he has amazing friends and family that he can count on and who will love him no matter what. It really does get better! <3
@AsSomedayItMayHappen well, if it makes a difference, CUSA had nothing to do with this video except providing the table we set up our equipment on. Rob and I did this on our own, we promoted it ourselves, and we dedicated our time to the project.
@deschanellove Well, the title and the "on behalf of" comments were misleading then. Also, it doesn't really get better, if anything it gets worse. The same bigots and bullies grow up and find more nuanced ways to discriminate. Thanks for promoting false promises.
I'm not part of the GLBTQ community, but I was bullied for being who I am from Grade 1-Grade 8, and I am still dealing with those issues today. But I have to admit - it DOES get better! I'm so happy I didn't take my life, because there is so much I wouldn't have gotten to experience. Just remember you are you, stay true to yourself, and IT GETS BETTER
I couldn't make it that day but my message would've been: Like Billy Talent wrote in one of their songs, " There is life beyond these walls." <---And after high school, it gets better!
I would just like to add that I am so proud of my school (Kennedy) because the majority of students and teachers were wearing purple to recognize the people who have died, are going through or have gone through bullying because of homophobia. This was a wonderful video and I virtually applaud Carleton for hosting this event.
I couldn't be there due to class conflicts but I'm so proud of my fellow Carleton Students (especially you two) for taking the initiative in something so fundamentally needed in society. A message of Hope, pure and simple.
Wow, Rob and Melanie, amazing work on this video. Its so great to hear from College/University students that it really does get better after high school. High school is such a tough time, you should never be afraid to be who you are!
Don't forget, all the wonderful gifts you have to offer the world are important - the fact that you are gay or not is of no consequence - you are you and the world needs you! During rough times, just keep saying, this too will pass! It gets better.
Awesome job everyone.

Exactly, it definitely does not get better. The same bullies when you're little grow up and bully other adults.

The same university that locks people up for peaceful protests. Yeah...real proud to be a part of this fascist university.

@dja1062 It's ok, you don't have to put gay in parentheses after Canadian; It's understood.
