Yesterday marked the first All-Star Game since 2006 without the cathedral theme by Jochen Flash. It was the first ASG with the NFL theme, although the baseball theme was used to announce a FOX Sports special before the game, and during a few commercial outros with program IDs displaying the All-Star on FOX logo.
@amlnet49 actually this year's all star game marked the first one since 2007 without the Jochen Flach theme. The '07 All-Star Game just used the jazzy MLB theme; it was during the ALCS later that year that marked the debut of the Jochen Flach theme.

@tpirrules19a Actually the original MLB on FOX theme was used in 2007 for the first two months of that seasn. It wasn't until mid-May of that year that FOX started using the current jazzy-orchestral version. I personally think the current theme (2007-present) is more modern-sounding than the previous version (1996-2007).
In case you didn't know MLB on FOX started in 1996 and that's what the original theme dates back to.
@ddn4trf Correct. But it would be better if they did it the way I said in my comment. It doesn't wear out the new theme and it separates an everyday station like FSN from FOX which only airs obviously on Saturdays, the All-Star Game, and the post season.

They basically put in some instruments that played the NFL on Fox theme. Such as the bells and more brass. Especially at the very end where you hear a similar opening tune to the NFL on Fox theme. Whenever I hear it now, it's gonna remind me of football when it's really supposed to be baseball season. Time to go back to the old theme.
I've never seen any network, local, regional, or national, revert back to older graphics, talk less of Fox Sports or any of its national relatives. It would be a long stretch...although I do prefer the scoreboard from the '08 season
the FSN regional affiliates use the '08 scoreboard instead of downgrading to a bug. This is why I stopped watching MLB on FOX is because the FoxBox changed to a bug instead of remaining a top-screen banner. In my opinion, MLB on FOX went even more downhill last year than it did in 2007 and 08
The 08 scoreboard was perfect. The NFL still uses the same format for the fox games. I also liked the old scoreline from 2001-2003. The box that they used in 09 isn't as exciting.

it seems to me that they switched to this theme to change their image, thinking this is a cleaner more Americanized version of it. And if you notice is sounds much more like Fox News theme.

@tpirrules19a Actually the original MLB on FOX theme was used in 2007 for the first two months of that seasn. It wasn't until mid-May of that year that FOX started using the current jazzy-orchestral version. I personally think the current theme (2007-present) is more modern-sounding than the previous version (1996-2007).
In case you didn't know MLB on FOX started in 1996 and that's what the original theme dates back to.

@ddn4trf Correct. But it would be better if they did it the way I said in my comment. It doesn't wear out the new theme and it separates an everyday station like FSN from FOX which only airs obviously on Saturdays, the All-Star Game, and the post season.

They basically put in some instruments that played the NFL on Fox theme. Such as the bells and more brass. Especially at the very end where you hear a similar opening tune to the NFL on Fox theme. Whenever I hear it now, it's gonna remind me of football when it's really supposed to be baseball season. Time to go back to the old theme.

I've never seen any network, local, regional, or national, revert back to older graphics, talk less of Fox Sports or any of its national relatives. It would be a long stretch...although I do prefer the scoreboard from the '08 season

HEre's what I think should've happened in 09:
the FSN regional affiliates use the '08 scoreboard instead of downgrading to a bug. This is why I stopped watching MLB on FOX is because the FoxBox changed to a bug instead of remaining a top-screen banner. In my opinion, MLB on FOX went even more downhill last year than it did in 2007 and 08

The 08 scoreboard was perfect. The NFL still uses the same format for the fox games. I also liked the old scoreline from 2001-2003. The box that they used in 09 isn't as exciting.

@leadoffeohippus - hmm...i guess i forgot the point where the score bar is supposed to be exciting. I always thought it was meant to pass along information, and the new bar has the ability to pass along more information than ever before.

@leadoffeohippus I hope they switch back to the 2008 scoreboard rather than use the FSN box. And the 2001 score banner (the one with the yellow boxes) was actually used through 2004; the 2004 score banner with the flashing effects wasn't used until postseason coverage that year
