  • gähn. Mozart. Kein Wunder, dass der gut verdient hat. Würde der heute auch. Musik, die gefällt.

    gähn.

Also: Ordentlich. Da weiß man, was man bekommt.

  • Why do they both put on the brakes at both their entrances?

  • because they think Mozart is a romantic composer and apparently have a very poor musical education!

  • I think, although Mozart was a Classical Composer, Mozart was a romantic, and that romance was at the very heart of this composition. This performance in particular, I believe, is exactly what Wolfie was trying to achieve. A bright Violist that matches the Violin in a considerate duo phrasing that cannot be written by black ink on white paper. Bravo! And Kudos! Coman and Halska! You have made a new believer in the Concertante ...

  • A new believer in the Concertante? You mean they had to schmaltz it up for you? Most of us could tell from the blank ink on white paper that it was a masterpiece before we even heard it.

There really is such a thing as over-romanticizing Mozart. If you don't think so, then prepare to run into a lot of negative opinions in regards to your interpretation of Mozart. I mean, it's your life, do what you want.

  • Classical and Romantic Music has nothing to do with actual "romance" as in what we have with each other. Its periods of music. Beethoven's death and back is called Classical Period, from Beethoven's death forward is called the Romantic period. i agree though, mozart's melodies are somewhat romantic sounding

  • Meijin I think you have read too many textbooks and have hence gone off the deep end. You are just about wrong in what you said here. Romanticism is an art style which emphasizes the personal, emotional and dramatic through the use of exotic, literary or historical subject matter. Therefore, the common definition of romance fits, as do a number of other definitions. Mozart is barely romantic to many scholars. He is a classical era composer. You might barely argue that some late comps -> romantic

  • thank you so much for posting this! i wanted to hear something with theodore coman for a long time. it's great!

  • molto bello

  • hi, good evening beautifful is music bye bye

  • woooooow!!!!!!

  • Bravo!

  • she es beatiful!

  • Wonderful concertante. That's why I like Mozart's musics.

  • very good

  • I can write for you any sheet music

  • this is one of my most favorte songs in the world. I love this song. They are magnifico players and the song seems like it was made for them and my fave violist Yuri Bashmet and Maxim Vengerov!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:D :)

  • Mozart is a genre unto himself!

  • The octaves are so in tune, and it looks effortless...amazing!

  • bravo exelente

  • Bravo, muito bom...

  • I love string instruments sooo much. I would so quit bass clarinet for a violin, viola and cello

  • Chibiguy go for Viola if anything, it is one of the most beautiful instruments in the orchestra. And it's better sounding than the screechy violin

  • It's interesting you say that. I was a viola player for many years, and I used to say the violin was a toy, whereas the viola was an INSTRUMENT. I described it as "shrill". Of course, I was just teasing violinists, but it was fun seeing how seriously they took it all. :)

  • Why on earth would she wear anything that bad.. looks like the green mamba jumped out and she jumped in.

  • or a bad '80s prom dress. (as if there were any good ones)

  • suprisingly, these two soloists did a much better job than Yuri Bashmet and Vengerov did in their performance of this together. And the two of them are supposed to be like "the best."

  • agreed.

  • I agree, however it's the style that was put off. I still prefer Bashmet (Vengerov is a little childish in my opinion), except to this song.

  • ABSOLUTELY WONDERFUL!!!!!!

  • Soloists, orchestra all perform in harmony.

Well arranged and practiced. Music flows smoothly. It is nie to see typical MOZARTIUM type small orchestra that playing perfect with great soloists. Tks.

    BellaMusica

  • Beautiful sound, beautiful interpretation, great violin and great viola.

I liked very much the dress of the violinist. She is very beautiful too.

    All great, all beatiful.

    Congratulations from Brazil

  • Mozart is the Man!

  • BRAVISSIMI!

  • omg that dress!!

  • Frumos

  • Oh my God!

  • quite amatorous

  • This sinfonia was composed for the manheim orchestra. The best orchestra at his epoque :)

  • I feel the viola in this has a slightly 'violiny' tone for a viola. Which I suppose soem like, but I feel the peice could do with some more deep resonance from the viola as counterpoint

  • Au Contraire , I think His Viola tone is decent, it is the recording that is not so. His adept responsiveness is a breath of fresh air. So many Violists ruin this piece with the seemingly overly phrased , rubato and sentimentalism adnausium. This is one of the few times I actually enjoyed hearing the Concertante. He is crisp, claen , in command while being well phrased and responsive . A true duet... Not the tortoise and the hare. Bravo!

  • I also enjoyed this interpretation, because it is a la Mozart, with finesse rather than bravura - as befits the Golden Epoch of music.

  • I like the interpretation as well, just not the tone :)

  • I'm new to YouTube per "Classical" music, and just checking what it is like to correspond regarding comments - it's a new thing that we can do this so efficiently. Violists are in a class by themselves, read "C" clef on third line, and play the biggest viola they can handle... The tone has to do with type of strings, volume of the accompaniment, and recording instrumentation. We wouldn't be commenting unless we like it in some way :)

  • I agree, the viola sound is nice, but surely there's nothing wrong with being a bit picky? Striving for perfection is a thankless task, but it gets you closer

  • I think this topic is fundamental to YouTube as a modern tool, and therefore worth addressing. For the most part, videos on YouTube are recordings that, for some reason, cannot be used for commercial profit. Some are excellent, though. I don't think a violist is going to change to another viola. Mozart is dead, so I don't know what he would say about this interpretation/equipment. The audio equalization probably emphasizes the high frequencies.

  • At 2:14, it sounds like somebody clapped...Anyway..I think the violinist is a little weak in her tone. They do seem to lack in "umpf"...Not bad though.Violists should play it as Mozart wrote it. The viola tuned a half step higher and in the key of D

  • Its a free video...

  • maybe someone dropped his/her bow on that big note?

  • Willviola.

  • i don't think her dress is ugly

  • the violists vibrato is better than the violinsts.. she has a viola vibrato -_-

  • like it very much, but the intonation is anyway much better in the first part!

  • My fave piece of all time...ruined by that dress! haha.

  • Her dress is awful! The playing is wonderful, though.
