Im a beginner on the viola at school Im in the seventh grade and i really wants to get into a college of music whethers it's juliard or berklee i just want to go haha i barely know how to hold the bow i hate my guitar and i want a piano love singing and did chorus i did ballet want to do it again i also want to play atleats 5 instruments before entering college: viola guitar piano flute(maybe) and cello as you see I a music freack big time
I got bored with the Stern/Zukerman/Mehta after 1 minute and I am so glad this performance kept me riveted from start to finish. Outstanding playing by both in the cadenza particularly.
I LOVE THIS SONG! I pretty much cryy every time the viola n violin solo come up. these two compliment each other tooo well! i love them!!!!!! beautifal!!!! that duet! i believe they did this better than maxim venegrov and yuri bashmet...and i LOVE yuri bashmet's playing! great job. mozart is smarter than einstein to me! gorgeous music!!!!!!!!!!!
@animeimport im sorry. i was asuming that u were smart enough to. maybe if you reread it about 20 more times and then actually take time from not understanding to actually go listen to venegrov and yuri play this maybe youd understand. c'mon, i know ur small brain can handle it.
I think, although Mozart was a Classical Composer, Mozart was a romantic, and that romance was at the very heart of this composition. This performance in particular, I believe, is exactly what Wolfie was trying to achieve. A bright Violist that matches the Violin in a considerate duo phrasing that cannot be written by black ink on white paper. Bravo! And Kudos! Coman and Halska! You have made a new believer in the Concertante ...
A new believer in the Concertante? You mean they had to schmaltz it up for you? Most of us could tell from the blank ink on white paper that it was a masterpiece before we even heard it.
There really is such a thing as over-romanticizing Mozart. If you don't think so, then prepare to run into a lot of negative opinions in regards to your interpretation of Mozart. I mean, it's your life, do what you want.
Classical and Romantic Music has nothing to do with actual "romance" as in what we have with each other. Its periods of music. Beethoven's death and back is called Classical Period, from Beethoven's death forward is called the Romantic period. i agree though, mozart's melodies are somewhat romantic sounding
Meijin I think you have read too many textbooks and have hence gone off the deep end. You are just about wrong in what you said here. Romanticism is an art style which emphasizes the personal, emotional and dramatic through the use of exotic, literary or historical subject matter. Therefore, the common definition of romance fits, as do a number of other definitions. Mozart is barely romantic to many scholars. He is a classical era composer. You might barely argue that some late comps -> romantic
this is one of my most favorte songs in the world. I love this song. They are magnifico players and the song seems like it was made for them and my fave violist Yuri Bashmet and Maxim Vengerov!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:D :)
It's interesting you say that. I was a viola player for many years, and I used to say the violin was a toy, whereas the viola was an INSTRUMENT. I described it as "shrill". Of course, I was just teasing violinists, but it was fun seeing how seriously they took it all. :)
Excelente versión de la sinfonía concertante.- Beatha me parece una violinista muy elegante con una técnica impecable y bello sonido y Theodore muy seguro con una expresividad fuera de lo común.- ¡genial!
suprisingly, these two soloists did a much better job than Yuri Bashmet and Vengerov did in their performance of this together. And the two of them are supposed to be like "the best."
Well arranged and practiced. Music flows smoothly. It is nie to see typical MOZARTIUM type small orchestra that playing perfect with great soloists. Tks.
I feel the viola in this has a slightly 'violiny' tone for a viola. Which I suppose soem like, but I feel the peice could do with some more deep resonance from the viola as counterpoint
Au Contraire , I think His Viola tone is decent, it is the recording that is not so. His adept responsiveness is a breath of fresh air. So many Violists ruin this piece with the seemingly overly phrased , rubato and sentimentalism adnausium. This is one of the few times I actually enjoyed hearing the Concertante. He is crisp, claen , in command while being well phrased and responsive . A true duet... Not the tortoise and the hare. Bravo!
I'm new to YouTube per "Classical" music, and just checking what it is like to correspond regarding comments - it's a new thing that we can do this so efficiently. Violists are in a class by themselves, read "C" clef on third line, and play the biggest viola they can handle... The tone has to do with type of strings, volume of the accompaniment, and recording instrumentation. We wouldn't be commenting unless we like it in some way :)
I agree, the viola sound is nice, but surely there's nothing wrong with being a bit picky? Striving for perfection is a thankless task, but it gets you closer
I think this topic is fundamental to YouTube as a modern tool, and therefore worth addressing. For the most part, videos on YouTube are recordings that, for some reason, cannot be used for commercial profit. Some are excellent, though. I don't think a violist is going to change to another viola. Mozart is dead, so I don't know what he would say about this interpretation/equipment. The audio equalization probably emphasizes the high frequencies.
At 2:14, it sounds like somebody clapped...Anyway..I think the violinist is a little weak in her tone. They do seem to lack in "umpf"...Not bad though.Violists should play it as Mozart wrote it. The viola tuned a half step higher and in the key of D
