Each time I went to Iraq, I was begged by Iraqis maimed, tortured, or who had family members raped and killed by Saddam's goons to liberate them. The Kurds have been getting ahead of the government and signing contracts with American oil companies. They give them exploration rights on specific tracts of land, with future profits divided 85/15, the 85 being to the Kurds.

My question is, how are these people affected by the insurgents? I'm not opposing the view that we shouldn't bring war to the middle east - I agree with that. But do the insurgents/terrorists ever affect citizens the way the US military does? By that I mean, yes the military kills innocents and such, but do the terrorists also do that the citizens in the middle east?

Kucinich has said Ron Paul would be his first choice for VP, so I doubt it would worry him that much. The fact is first and foremost we must nominate a candidate that will end this war. DK is not polling above 1% and is not even a factor in the polls. Ron Paul has the momentum and is our best shot at electing a candidate who will have all the troops home their first year in office.

I find the book of Revelations very difficult to understand. However, the Christian "Just War" doctrine is fairly easy to understand and reflects the thinking of many scholars over thousands of years. One does not have to be Christian to reach the same conclusions. In a sentence: defensive war is justified as a last resort if it has a realistic hope of success and is supervised by a legitimate authority.

It would be far more cost effective and efficient to buy a weapon from a county like Pakistan or North Korea if you are a terrorist than to develop your own. We keep hearing about countries developing WMDs from this administration, but they seem to be wrong every time.

It is not only this administration. To purchase a nuclear weapon is not cost effective to buy from another country. A nuclear weapon signature can be traceback to the country. Nobody would sell to rough countries.

A very small percentage of Americans read books and research news and information for themselves, instead they heavily rely on the television news for information when it's no more then a ride in the amusement park. The process of informing the misinformed has been a very trying and often discouraging task. Only 1 out of every 10 people I speak with (and these are friends and acquaintances) respond positivity.

The critical point that betrays Mr. Paul's simplistic flawed reasoning is that he chooses to equate a free nation liberating another with one that was by all honest evaluation ruled by a tyrant that openly made threats to the world and invaded his neighbors. One does not weigh the machinations of a criminal breaking into a house as if they are the same as a police officer breaking in to rescue a child or to stop a murder.

great mix of the documentary interviewing iraqi civilians with what ron paul has said about blowback during the debates. truth is, americans NEVER see the perspective of what iraqi civilians are saying or seeing. it's not that americans are purely evil. they do not see the nightmares that take place. they only see split-second shots of burnt cars and numbers scrolling across the television.

Each time I went to Iraq, I was begged by Iraqis maimed, tortured, or who had family members raped and killed by Saddam's goons to liberate them. Unfortunately, we wasted so much time waiting for the UN to do it's job... And the reason we bombed anywhere in Iraq prior was to eliminate the anti-air guns firing at us. Ron Paul is a nut.

In over a decade of enforcing the no fly zone the Iraqis were able to take out none of our planes. The issue isn't whether we should have taken out Saddam, but rather what the effect of our continuing occupation is when they clearly don't want us there.

It took over 40 years for the rebels in Northern Ireland to even think about ending violent opposition to British occupation of their country.
It will take at least that long to "win" Iraq since you will need to wait till all of the current generations of Iraqis are dead or incapable of fighting and your atrocities in the name of liberation are forgotten.

Franti and Kucinich have worked together on a number of things. Kucinich raised $300K last quarter while Ron Paul raised over $5million. If the numbers were reversed I would be supporting DK, but the best shot we have of getting someone elected who will get us out of the war NOW is Ron Paul.
