@Californialiving10 If you have been a gymnast before or has been following it for a very long time like others you'd complain too, there is a way to be graceful, have good choreography, show your personality, be clean, AND have difficult tumbles. Its called ARTISTIC Gymnastics for a reason :D.
@Californialiving10 Go watch Oksana Omelianchik's floor routine from 1985. Now that's a fantastic routine. It's got the perfect mix of tumbling, dance, charm and style! If you updated the tumbling, that could still be a competitive routine today!
@Californialiving10 OH MY GOSH YES! And there's too much acrobatics in dance these days. I am a dancer, but I have enormous respect for gymnasts and I adore watching it. People expect to see elements of both in both. Not true dance or true gymnastics. Little elements here and there are good, but these days t here's too much cross over for my taste. I have to admit, even just watching I get annoyed at the people wanting more dance.
Anyone who says her tumbling isn't amazing is stupid, but I must say her jumps leave something to be desired for me. They're FINE, they just don't go above and beyond-- though I just watched Nastia's floor routine so I guess I'm biased.
They should change her floor music. A nice floor music will make her routine stands out more and more beautiful. She is a beautiful gymnast, just need to have better choreo and music.
Why is the dancing aspect of artistic gymnastics choreography so neglected? I've been a gymnastics fan since 1992 when I was eight years old (and when I realized that I loved tumble runs but could never actually do one). I've never understood though why the dancing seems to receive so little attention. I have been dancing for 20 years and it just strikes me as odd that the the beautiful tumble runs are the only focus, the gymnasts often look as if they couldn't care less about the dancing.
shes incredible at 13! i keep thinking shes 16! :L she gets so much height on everything, yet still manages to land everything clean! especially her spilt leaps! :OO
@TormanSteven you have to remember that she is only 13 here. she isnt as mature, so i think the music is fine, for her at the age. Now though, she should have better music
I love Jordyn's gymnastics but she has got to get better choreography! She has always struggled in the overall performance. She's potentially one of the USA's best hopes for gold in London (AA). Martha.......help her! Tammy Biggs.......help her! Nastia.....help her! good luck Jordyn!
wait... during Olympics top scores were in the 15's and 16's so what does that say about all the gymnasts at the American Cup? (or is it diff. scoring?)
@karma212 in the 2005-2008 code, the top 10 skills were counted, resulting in higher D scores. in the 2009 code, the top 8 skills are counted, so the D scores are lower.
But I'm sick of the commentators talking about Jordyn when other gymnasts are compeating, its so rude, I mean she is a great gymnast but i wish the commentators weren't always talking about her.
honestly, i didnt really like this routine. her tumbles were great, no doubt. but her choreography was just soo...blah and bland. the music wasnt all that great either.
@stavrinou1998 well 14.650 is actually a good score on floor. since they can no longer do 5 passes, scores will be lower than we saw at last olympics. also, at 1:29 she fell out of her triple turn and that was a couple tenths, also her dance needs to improve a little bit and be more polished. however, i have no doubt in my mind that she will be all there for 2012.
@stavrinou1998 although I'm not saying she's very good first she has doesn't have a HUGE start value and second she has quite a few form breaks during almost all her passes She's a good gymnast for 13 and is definitely one to watch out for in 2012.
her chprepgraphy this year is much better! i just saw her at pacific rim and it was actually extremely enjoyable, great music and choreography and she really put her personality into it.
Shes 13!!!!!!! Of course shes gona pick some funa and exotic music and not be lame and robotic! nothin wrong with nastias music or anythin i love nasts cuzz it fits her! but apparently shes not that lame type of slomo girl GO JORDYN!(:
I can't believe she's only a year older than me. 13! Wow... She is the first gymnast since i saw Nadia Comaneci's performances that has shown the spunkiness that I adore.
I understand what some people are saying about her just being a junior, but the Russian juniors have much better choreography (well, some are senior now). I don't know if Jordyn has what it takes to be someone that I really like. I'd much rater match a routine with great choreography and so-so tumbling than a routine with so-so choreography and... well, most of her tumbling isn't that great either.
Aggghhh! She's soo talented, I just wish she had some decent music and choreography! She could be amazing! Oh well, she's just a junior, so maybe it'll improve as she gets older.
She's wonderful! I know her music and choreography are terrible, but that's true of most juniors. I mean, at least she smiles and actually performs it. Obviously, she can also handle the nerves. And even though she has tons of power, she's got flexibility!
@shawnjackson97 not anymore. nastia can make a comeback because she continued competing after the olympics but shawn decided to go all hollywood. theres no WAY she can keep up with today's gymnasts. she can go back to her tanning booth.
I agree with you, in a way. Shawn did decide to go all Hollywood. But I do think that if Shawn really wanted to make a comeback, she could do so, and quite well.
Can you guys imagine jordyn wieber, shawn johnson, nastia liukin, Chelsea Memmel, Sam Pezek, and bridget sloan on the team for 2012? They would be such a powerhouse team.
