I broke an arm in Canada, The hospital visit, cast and drugs was around 5 US dollars. It was treated fast with quality care. When I returned to the US I rebroke it in an accidentand at the hospital for the recast, x-ray and and back in for removal, the cost was $4290. It have no insurance, We all need to back The Presidents Health Care reform bills

Two illegal Mexican immigrants get in a fight. Both get stabbed, one very seriously. Both get EMT response and are transported to the hospital where they are both treated with the excellent standard of care provided in the US. Both get surgery one is in the OR for 9 hours then intensive care for a week.  The cost is probably in the tens of thousand of dollars. Neither one has insurance or has ever contributed to taxes. US citizens are paying for this everyday. No system can take that drain.

Hospital prices go up..as this happens every single day. Then the cost is passed on to the insurance companies who passes it on to companies insuring their workers.. Universal healthcare for citizens vs. Universal heathcare for all (everyone who has a foot on the soil) is a killer for the US. We have a tremendous problem with the southern border you do not. 20 million + people that come to the county and use the hospitals for free. In Canada. we have private insurance for eyeglasses, dental, Short-term disability insurance and upgrading from a ward in hospital (4 people in room) to semi-private or private room .. Everything else is covered by Universal Health Care except for .. sex change operation, plastic surgery....

We have friends in Denmark that we talk to regularly...they would like to come back to the US but because of the healthcare alone they stay in Denmark with their 2 kids...if Universal Healthcare is as bad as the opponents to it would lead us to believe...why do our friends feel this way?

The health care is there, but even so, there are still people who will never utilize it. Be it laziness or pride. All it takes is a trip. You can have 10 kids and ready to pop out another, and the state will give you more money. No matter what. But it is a fact that some people do not know or are too lazy to use the system.

That's probably a good thing. Have you checked out the problems with those state run systems,like with Canada's? Many are in trouble with funding(tax paying baby boomers retiring) and long waits for access for treatments. Their reforms usually include more privatization.

The US will only help you if you go to a hospital dying *in that moment*. If you have a disease that is killing you slowly, as most diseases tend to do, they will help you unless you have money. US healthcare is generally equal to Canadian, for those who can afford it, for 1/6th of Americans it is not only inferior it DOES NOT EXIST. Republicans know this, but are apathetic, which is even worse than ignorance.
