hip hop is the culture rap is the music. but apparently hip hop is the music as well. its kind of confusing and stupid. but rap is atributed more to "hardcore" and "ganster rap."
in my opinion though rap is just a beat with a flow. hip hop is more east coast new york style. unless its these cats or someone like wu tang or big L. thats rap. i wouldnt say this is hip hop or even the clothes they wear is hip hop but more just gangster to me. someone like neptunes: thats hip hop.

This isnt rap, its hip hop. There is a major difference. Rap is only about sex, drugs and violence. Hip hop is about the art of word play and the subject matter is of value. Rap is like the dirty perverted son of hip hop.

I beg to differ. Rap has some of the most intricate wordplay I've ever heard, like "Lose Yourself" by Eminem for example. Plus, some hip hop has sex and violence in it as well. Run DMC, Tonedeff, Celph Titled, Apathy, etc. are all hip hop, and they talk about sex and violence constantly.
