I saw the torpedeos every Sunday at The Playhouse for about three years. Brendan Healy who played keyboard played at my dad's 65th birthday party 20 years later and was still amazing. The lead guitarist, Steve Hall's greatest solo on Face it Where it Stands was cut by Chas Chandler on this album a great shame. Tenor sax was played by Lindolph D'Olivera. Does any one have some footage from the Knebworth concert recorded by Channel 4?
I saw them at the Travellers Rest Darlington. They did a great version of Trammps Hold Back The Night as well as original called Rise Carr Reggae.
The lead singer at one time read meters for the gas board and knocked on my door, I played him Junior Walkers What Does It Take as we talked about the band.
As an exciled Darlingtonian great memories thanks to You Tube but in all honesty what a great band.
The band actually hailed from Darlington where they formed in 1978. They did the Melody Maker Bands Competition in 1979 and were runners up. They decided to have a go at going pro in 1980. The band reformed to the one you hear on this track. Only the Alto player, Nigel Stanger, was an architect.
They played the Playhouse every Sunday lunchtime for 5 years and packed it every time. Not a bad record.
That's right . They played in the foyer of the Playhouse Theatre in the Haymarket every Sunday about then. Someone told me they were all architects. Probably half of them were. But they were a great live band.
