I think the percentages taped to the guitars have to do with tuning or a personal reference. but I'm a diehard sparta and sleepercar fan. jim ward can do no wrong musically. God Bless Jim :)
I love how it sounds just as strong as it does on the album. It shows that there is real talent here. I love Jim Ward's voice. But still, I could never choose between him and Cedric Bixler-Zavala. They are both amazing and emotional in different ways. At The Drive-In was one of the best things to happen to music for me...and everything the members did afterward has been like a fragmented continuance of the awesome sound that they had together.
i dont care what anyone says i am as tough as nails but theres something about this band that makes me very emotional and i think that alone is amazing
dude when i first got this song i had the non-acoustic studio version and it took my like a month or two to figure out all of the words. but its an amazing song
The mass majority is right, ATDI and Mars Volta are neither here nor there... Omar and Jim whent their ways, shit happened, and now Keely and Jim are doing their thing as well... Don't get me started on Jim's side project and solo project (Those that are in the know will have an idea of what I'm saying) Either way, the music will always advance and evolve, beautiful, and eternal... This song epitimizes that very statement...
Opinions differ, especially when it's about music. So technically you shouldn't say the mars volta is better, only that you find it better.;)
I think tmv's first album was amazing, the other 2 nothing special. And I like Sparta, because of the melodies, Jim's voice and all the emotion in the songs. This acoustic live video is one of my favorites.
I agree, I am a big mars volta fan and sparta fan but they are obviously two completely different bands...i also agree with joris DEloused album was sick but the other two werent that great...
what is point even saying something like that. this is a youtube video of sparta. not mars volta. this same arguement happens all the time and its getting annoying
It's not drop D, I don't think, because they tune their lowest strings down at the end of the song without changing the rest. Although I'm not familiar with how to play this song... their tuning at the end of it doesn't seem to suggest anything lower than D, like drop C (which would require retuning all the strings). Sorry, is this making any sense?
Its definatley Dropped D - but there arent any tabs for their acoustic stuff. You just need to figure it out from the original version. Thats what I had to do for "Air"
absolutely amazing!

Doesn't it sound like Jim has an accent? Not only his singing but when he talks too. Maybe it's just me.

um its not drop D. its OPEN D. DADADD. its a beautiful tuning. Tremonti uses it both in Creed and Alterbridge as well.

It's amazing how someone who played guitar in a previous band could lead a new band with such an incredible voice ;]

D - Bmi7 - G - Bmi7
It's standard, they drop to D for Air.
