Funniest gearman review I have seen. I would say it is nice to see you struggle with an effect now and then but to be honest you made both delays sound better than i could. I try to use it then just want to toss them against the wall.

I think you did a good job demo'ing the two. recently having read about the differences in tape/analog and digital delays, I have heard the old tape boxes being blown away by the digitals. Only reason though is because digital reproduces the sound more so than tapes, and you definitely did that here. (having a vintage thing like that is just simply cool though. its like the guy who has an old yamaha home stereo with the old school flip switches and an 8 track, LOL)

The TRex does a great job of emulating the delay aspects of the echoplex, but there's a lot of breakup on the plex that the rex ain't getting. Depending on what you like, that may be a god thing, considering the breakup is in the higher frequencies, and sounds really weird

The Reptile is actually a pretty good pedal.

The Line6 Echo Park is my favorite, though, simply because of it's 500 different options. Plus, the trails switch is useful. Not the best sound quality, unfortunately.

I am fond of the original tape delay, overall, tho There's a certain charm to it, isn't there?gh.

This is really an unfair comparison as the Echoplex's trim is WAY overloaded and clipping sickly. It would much smoother and richer if trimmed properly. The T-Rex has a preset trim with lots of headroom so of course it sounds better. Those old tape fx take over your signal so badly, you would need a line booster and a good EQ to make the guitar through EP's effected tone sound anything like the bypassed sound.

The Edge is pretty talented as far as effects go. I think he runs two korg delays through an A/B into separate AC30s. One delay is long and the other is short.

I wish I could afford to try something like that ha. I'm trying to learn the techique, but still suck. delay has a learning curve, I guess.

You are right, acechris89. The Edge does use stereo Korg Delays. I've also seen him use EHX Memory Mans. (Or is it Memory Men?)

I recommend you check out the Boss DD20 (which I think Edge has also used, but then again what effects hasn't he used??) You can do stereo delays or dual head tape delays with the single pedal. Amps are your call.
