If we want to be modern lets get rid of the slums in every major cities in Philippines, we need to build a state of the art recycling plant and put poor people to work, modern housing project for the poor, improve sanitation, cleaner streets and road, renovate our museums, zoo, national land mark, improve our education, specially protect our environment, our rainforest, coral reef, Philippine bio-diversity and preserve our culture, cuz this is what foreigners really come to see.

This stat makes more concrete what we all know. Those who are already rich, are making a killing. The wages for most of the other Filipinos have not gone up compared to the inflation. Even if the growth is said to be a 1,000,000%, it means shit when it's harder to budget for our needs.

From the last report I read nearly 20% of Filipinos go hungry or skip meals because they can't afford to eat 3 meals a day. The government itself does not invest in projects that would help the poor. How many of our people have the chance to graduate and find jobs? Only a few. There are a lot of grads but few jobs-unless you take nursing. AFP-better guns, same corrupt and abusive leadership.

Inflation is caused about by a LOT of factors and earlier this year's inflation was not the government's fault. It was brought about by the prices of gasoline. Companies also were not able to give wage hikes because they had to spend more on transportation costs for their products. They may have done this for two reasons:

We can only prove our military strength only if we can engage in war, but in our case, we can't declare any war thats why we can not protect our national interest. China don't fear us, even if we want to take the spratly islands are we able to protect it from invasion? who are we fooling?

lots of foreigners are saying that philippines is really under rated,they say its even better than most developing countries,just one factor is our already developed market,thinking that we just have been industrialzed in 1999 or 2001 i think,the problem is our population,our gdp is greater than KL but their gdp per capita is higher because they are only 24 mil,?

Actually we are an Newly Industrialized Country! Last year we had a GDP growth of 7.3% and peso's worth was up more than 10%! Sadly, not every, but it might be because they lack the experience and a capital, but in the Philippines money lending is still ongoing.

Young one, what does the GDP growth and the increase in the peso's value really mean to most Filipinos? It's getting harder and harder for most of us to earn enough to live. This stat makes more concrete what we all know. Those who are already rich, are making a killing. The wages for most of the other Filipinos have not gone up compared to the inflation. Even if the growth is said to be a 1,000,000%, it means shit when it's harder to budget for our needs.

Hi. Just to set the records straight, it has been found out that the real cause for the little girl's suicide were the physical, mental, and most shockingly---sexual abuse done against her by her own father. Of course they're poor, impoverished but hunger alone didn't cause her to commit suicide. ---God have mercy on her soul.

From the last report I read nearly 20% of Filipinos go hungry or skip meals because they can't afford to eat 3 meals a day. The government itself does not invest in projects that would help the poor. How many of our people have the chance to graduate and find jobs? Only a few. There are a lot of grads but few jobs-unless you take nursing. AFP-better guns, same corrupt and abusive leadership.

And another thing, the government can't provide everything. In a capitalistic economy, being rich is one's initiative.

Everyone can work on becoming rich. But what about those who have no resources to draw from? What chance does a farmer's kid(for example) who has to contend with lack of books, supplies and good teachers? It is incumbent upon the government to provide the resources for it's people to better themselves. As it stands, it doesn't even do enough to secure food for it's people. People are actually dying of hunger and malnutrition right now in the Philippines. I don't give a crap about the GDP!
