It's sad that one of the most intelligent canidates we've had in years is having to sell himself out so much to get past the primaries. If the american people actually thought about their votes instead of going by name recognition, he would have won in 2000, and we wouldn't be in such deep shit like we are now.
Yeah...it is the primaries. The moderates don't do the big voting. It is the far left and far right, so whomever you are, you have to cozy up to them for a bit. Look at Lieberman...lost the primary for Senate becuase he was too far right, but won the general election as and independent. I think party primaries really are a sham.
After posing as a stalwart against torture, he gladly gave Bush dictatorial powers under the table and carte blanche to keep torturing defenseless human beings. John McCain, John Warner, and Lindsey Graham, in posing as objectors and "compromisers" on the Military Commissions Act, have back-stabbed all Americans and should be held accountable for their treasonous behavior.
Sad Fact: McCain used to be great, and has turned into a massive disappointment. He'll do and say anthing now. I never thought he would be like that, but he is now.
The sound-bite nature of this ad does no justice to McCain over the full interview. By deciding not to ALIENATE the far right christian base this time around, how is that any way contradictory to what he believes? He's being more inclusive and less bombastic, but not contradictory. He's just doing things gentler this time - and smarter.
well, he may have changed a bit but i believe that it is related to the next election, i think he still has the core beliefs and know how to do a great job.
This guy is the same guy that riped John Kerry, calling him a flip-flopper when he challenged Bush's policy in Iraq. I hope someone(esp. from the right) rips him apart for his own BS. What goes around, Comes around!
See, this is why I hate political ads. Dare to change an opinion over time? You get attacked as a "flip-flopper". Say you don't 100% support a group? You get attacked when you say you don't 100% oppose them. This whole thing was clumsy propaganda targeting one of the few politicians on either side of politics who comes even close to being moderate. Poor.

Hmm Yeah, I had faith in him, too. Maybe he received death threats from within the government.

This SOB has no place in our government.

settle??? mccain is awesome. I may actually work on his campaign. I've been waiting 8 years for him to have his chance.

If you've been watching him over the last 8 years you MUST have noticed him morph into a total phoney. The guy will do and say anything now.
I used to be a big fan, but now I can't stand him.
Hugely disappointing.
(btw, I don't care for this ad, either.)

Sorry but i can't see this guy in an evil light. I'd rather have him be president of my country than a fear mongerer like Hillary Clinton any day.
