I don't think that may be the reason, maybe it has something to do with dromon and what not? Because this sounds familiar to the first colossi battle when you climbing on it.(listening to both at the same time, ears slowly dieing)

I honestly disagree with both of these theories, my guess is that this was the theme for a colossus that didn't make it into the game. As a result, this wasn't put in either.
