The tellers are trained to do nothing. You HAVE to assume he is armed or at least a knife. The bank is insured, so nobody loses money. Anyone gets involved would lose life or limb, or eyesight, etc. Why risk it?

Trust me that is exactly how ppl would act in a situation like that. The Body doesn't process adrenaline in a fight or flight response untill u ACTUALLY have to flee or fight, in any other circumstance ur body will slow down and perform rationally and calmly. The old guy obviously had some past training, adrenaline accounts for the jump, which at the end of the day wasn't THAT awesome.
